  1. Anybody remember Ron Clark? When I was a kid, coming up watching Killer, Carew, Oliva, etc., I thought a new superstar was going to be in the pipe line every couple of years. Rick Rennick, Dan Ford, Steve Brye, Steve Braun, Bombo Rivera! The list, as we all know, has been long ... Well, I remember Ron Clark, a third baseman in 1968 or 1969 had an easy popup at third but ... he tripped over the bag, and missed the ball. I thought it couldn't t get worse.
  2. What happened with Disco Dan?
  3. I have it. Arcia's mission this year has been to make all the mistakes possible, so next year, or the year after, his pluses will outweigh his negatives.
  4. That ... should ... never ... happen. Does ... it ... even ... ever ... happen? So ... very ... tiresome.
  5. Any word on what happened to Pinto?
  6. No, he comes from Lobstein, Prussia, where all the boys lobbed stones at clubs held by the elders of the community. The goal was to lob under 10 mph.
  7. Another un-fundamental play - by Arcia.
  8. I had to look that up, but he has had much better results against lefties this year. Any idea why?
  9. "I do recall him saying something about going to Japan for 6 months or so. I think it had something to do with his daughter's volleyball career. Don't quote me on that though."
  10. My favorite part of the 2014 season was discovering Twins Daily Game Thread. It has been great to find so much good humor to go along with baseball games. As good as a Grain Belt, no better.
  11. Hunter 82 RBI, 33 2B, .290-ish average. Did you see how he gave D. Santana a friendly hug at third base? I wouldn't mind seeing him in the Twins outfield. I know this is controversial, and I'm not the GM wearing a disguise (in case anyone was wondering). Is his defense as terrible as some people say it is? (Baseball Reference grades his DWAR at -2.5). I'm just saying if I see him in a Twins uniform next year, I'll say, "Hey, there's Torii, cool." And I won't care if they don't add him either.
  12. Kids used to go to the prom, Now they go to the porn.
  13. I think you've all made Brian embarrassed.
  14. The Twins got to the World Series in their 5th year at Metropolitan (not Neopolitan) Stadium. The Twins got to the World Series in their 6th year at the *%#* Dome. Will they get to the World Series in the 7th year at Puckett Park (er, Target Field), 2016?
  15. I briefly thought of the 1965 Twins tonight too. I was thinking what it felt like to have superstars on your team. Bonafide superstars. And when Carew came up we had three.
  16. The first time Mauer has been hit by a pitch all year. Only the 18th time in his entire career. That's once every 309 plate appearances. I'd call that "calitas" interesting.
  17. Manufacturing? On a related note, I suppose "hog butcher of the world" doesn't sit too well with Chicagoans these days.
  18. Yes. Mauer has confusion on his elbow. A rare injury, just the kind Mauer sometimes gets.
  19. I always assumed colitas was a fragrant desert plant. I guess, in a way, I wasn't far off.
  20. Art. And what is wrong with Nunez's head? Is it shaped badly so that the helmet flies off every time he runs? I'd cut him from the heat just because of that.
