  1. I'd be more interested to see all the coaches take the night off and have the players coach and see what kind of lineup pops up.
  2. Are you aware of the ridiculousness of the blackout restrictions in Iowa? The Twins, Brewers, Royals, Cardinals, Cubs, and White Sox, Iowa is "home territory" to them all. What a fantastic way to build support for your game. The MLB's blackout policy is an archaic disaster. Furthermore, the Twins were broadcasted on WHO radio across the entire state and beyond in the 60s and 70s I believe (my father tells me), surely someone on here knows exactly (I looked this up to no avail). This was before the Cubs moved their AAA team to Des Moines. In short, Iowa used to be much more Twins territory... there is not even a station in Des Moines (nor 80% of the state) with the Twins games now. It's quite a loss of ground leading to the current cluster "mess" If only the Twins would have moved to Des Moines in 1981.
  3. Hendriks needs to take Inderal, assuming that it's not a banned substance. Performers use it to eliminate stage fright and it is very effective. Maybe just get buzzed on suds to steady the nerves.
  4. Looks like you nailed that prediction. Thanks. Wish I were wrong. Double sigh.
  5. He's very hittable at this point. I wish I could have seen him pitch in AAA to see what's so different. Perhaps Parker can put something together? Major league hitters instead on minor league hitters!! It's more than just that. You don't find many 2 ERA guys in AAA that can't be fair in the MLB.

  7. Nah... can't say that with any confidence at this point. Just that low ball which should have been a strike (Liam's pitch for the K).
  8. I don't think Dozier makes that play... Carroll either for that matter.
  9. He's so dang nervous... got to get past that or he'll never be effective. I'm thinking 4 ER on 5 IP 3K 3 BB
  10. Hendriks' line predictions anyone?
  11. Yeah, I'm not necessarily against any of these rules (are they rules or guidelines?), I'm just disillusioned and disappointed that it's necessary (I guess?). Also, what is a juvenile comment? Please define with the connotation, not with a denotation (fark-monkey-robot i.e). I very much agree with (but as a guideline) not using text/shorthand. Students are already putting this into papers... it's bad (for society too).
  12. What's really sad is the need (or perceived need) for all these rules. Sigh. I get it though.
  13. For those of us unswayed by 'balance' in the lineup arguments, and more concerned with stringing hits together in succession to score runs, the lineup should read: Revere, Mauer, Hammer, Doumit, Plouffe, Carson, Casilla, Florimon, Butera.
  14. No argument here. [video=youtube;5G4HxrVx20A]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5G4HxrVx20A
  15. Maybe I could have phrased it like "Plouffe's aerophobia became uncontrollable" but now we're nitpicking. Royce White's aerophobia has been well documented and he's still "wasting his time" pursuing an NBA career. Not trying to be rude, but you need to go look up the condition and how it manifests itself. This hypothetical is absurd if you know the Royce White story you'd know that his anxiety doesn't prevent him from flying, it only makes him really weak and exhausted when the flight is over from the increased stress. He's found ways of managing it to the point where it doesn't have a great affect on him. A team would know this before signing a player where the job description includes frequent air travel. So again, if Plouffe had the condition, and was now playing MLB ball, it would be because he's got it under control for the most. Part. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9TaK9fCI2U -- Royce White on his anxiety Tangential. Steeler's safety Ryan Clark has sickle cell trait (not full blown anemia) and cannot play in Denver. After playing in Denver a couple years ago he was hospitalized for days recovering. He's still a Steeler. http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/sports/steelers/mundy-expands-his-safety-net-role-647933/?p=1
  16. Trixi or Dixi for Hendriks. I like Dixi.
  17. Crikket: Isn't the worst part of the TV coverage (lack thereof) in Iowa that even on nationally televised games (espn i.e.) Iowa is blacked out? The situation is an outrage. I long for the day that tv stations will be a la carte, like iTunes. This is one area where congress should get involved to clean up the mlb/cable monopolies and tv station access.
  18. Darnit, was really hoping Florimon would get the chance to go 4-4. Let down....
  19. Even straight up, I don't see this happening.
  20. Wait, wait, wait. Are you suggesting there are more than six? I'd like to read what 10-15 look like.
  21. His location inside against RH was far better tonight, which for him is huge. His breaking pitches were hitting the corners as well. Good to hear. Duensing really becomes one dimensional when his slider and curve are not biting and up.
  22. After being swept sleepless in Seattle I was worried the team was ready to crawl into the fetal position the rest of the way. I very glad to be disappointed. Some want us to lose games the rest of the way in order to climb up the draft board. I want to see the team compete with these new guys and win as much as possible... on a good note going into next year.
  23. NEWSFLASH: Florimonsy chasing batting title? Now batting .500 even. Good on ya kid!
