  1. Uh, no. Don't read things into what I've said.
  2. Maybe this was not clear. I'm attacking the argument some have used, not the conclusion.
  3. Yes, that seems to be the better analogy.
  4. When a black person walks into a room, you know he's black. Do you know anything about his sexuality at that point? Thus, the civil rights issues involved with sexuality are not on par with discrimination on the bases of skin color.
  5. Anyone analogizing prejudices of skin color (something immediately, publicly visible) with sexuality (private, unless you choose to share it) is a stage-one-thinking idiot. Am I allowed to say that? (My use of "idiot" is not name calling, but a technical use of the greek word)
  6. Quick, everyone run over each other to show, rather --anonymously write -- how tolerant you are.
  7. Who going to have the better year, Baker or Pelfrey? Be sure to look back at the end of the year to see how well TR's decision was.
  8. To make the Quality start stat a better indication of what a quality start actually is, it should become a function of ER/IP. Granted this must be a whole number stat, so I'd say a QS should be separate brackets beginning at 5 IP and 2 ER, 6-7 IP and 3 ER, 8-9 IP and 4 ER. I really don't have a problem with the current stat, but recognize it for what it is -- a very MACRO snapshot of starting pitching success. It does that okay.
  9. I'm logged in, and using Firefox. If I click on Twins Daily - Kevin Correia And The Twins Face Obstacles I get 1 comment (Seth's). Same if I use IE. Same if I clear the cache. Yep, it has to do with stories/blogs/whatever on the home page. Clicking "comments" right from the home page story does the same. Poo.
  10. No, I'm always logged in. Running up-to-date Safari browser.
  11. Doesn't take me to the comment section on some links like: Your most recent post to Twins To Sign RHP Kevin Correia in Twins and below is the "see more" link to the comment section. Upon clicking the link, it takes me to the story, but only one comment, not the hundreds? of comments that actually exist. This appears to be the problem with any story that is on the home page/front page. I've heard others with the same issue. Don't think it's a cache problem as other links in forums work when "see more" links are clicked. If it's just me, I'll just deal with it. Thanks for your effort.
  12. Are the shortcuts to latest comments from the home page and 'what's new' list ever going to work again? Makes navigation a problem.
  13. Kevin Correia, Twins agree to terms - Bucs Dugout What the one Pirates Blog is saying. In short, they (we, cause I'm a Pittsburger) don't get the money or the years -- the whole signing really.
  14. No, he's not better. Just as bad I think. The guy has been a below replacement player his last 3 years and over his entire career. That 4.21 ERA in the NL will on a team with average to above average D will bloat to >4.5 ERA in AL and with the Twins D in all likelihood. I hope you are right and I am wrong.
  15. I really think a "solid #5" is too much to hope for. Over the last three years, the only starting pitcher with a WAR lower than Correia's 0.8 is Nick Blackburn (0.5). His home run rate was almost average last year, but in 2011 it was 1.40, which is high even compared to the Twins cadre of gopherballers. Correia gives up way too many hits, and his strikeout rates are about as pathetic as Pavano's. I cannot believe how utterly stupid this move was; signing Correia to a one year, MLB minimum deal would've been a questionable move. Giving him an extra year and $5 million per season is sheer insanity. Agree. Seen him pitch here in the burgh, and he's no darling.
  16. At best Correia can be Pavano 2010 - 2011 and at worst Blackburn 2012 - current. So, with a lot of luck, good defense (did I say luck), and catchers that can frame pitches, he could pitch to a #3 level, but likely we only hope for a solid #5 with an ERA no higher than 4.75 this season and sub 5 next.
  17. Phew, I thought we weren't going to sign an Ace this year.
  18. Kinda pissed, but with the realization that this is the Twins Org., why even get animated with these fated, tepid moves?
  19. Sounds a little intense. Just that is good for this milquetoast team. Any relation to country singer Darryl Worley? Welcome Vance, and thanks for some bio/background Crikket.
  20. So unless Morneau is moved, Parmelee is definitely slotting to start in RF now. I can accept that.
  21. Where did you read that they were "shopping" these two? Both are available, but shopping? Haven't heard that.
  22. Laugh, did I. Maybe in some other thread. Certainly not here. That would be like... I don't know... two totally different things.
  23. It can't get any worse than running Doumit out to a corner OF spot. OF Defense: Parm>me>Delmon Young>Doumit
  24. Let's not make another Blackburn contract mistake. Arb years don't have to be bought out... that's a good thing, that's what they are there for.
