  1. not sure I like the contact play, especially to the left side of the infield, with a guy who hits it that hard...
  2. Great to get 3 runs, but man, you had a chance to do some damage and we have Gimenez and Buck up there...somewhat predictable results.
  3. Rosario walked? .290 ob% just went up!
  4. Wouldn't mind it if Molly played a practical joke on us all, and did not attempt a bunt in the first 3 innings, with a man on base...
  5. Not sure why we don't steal first, not after the failed bunt attempt. I know doziers risp stinks but c'mon. Of course buck was caught stealing...
  6. You have me with the first paragraph, but not so much on the last paragraph...it's all mental? Possibly. Per Gleeman: 415 pitchers have 500+ innings since 2000 and Kyle Gibson (38%) is the only one to throw fewer than 40% of his pitches in the strike zone. That failure is over a long period of time...continuing to trot him out there makes no sense. I want Duffey in the pen, but if that is my only other option, I would bring him back to the rotation.
  7. Hard for me to get to excited about playoff possibilities this early. Berrieos, Mejia unproven at this level and you simply cannot rely on them to help make a playoff push. Gibby and Huges...done, imo. Santiago...maybe you have something. Maybe. So that leaves us with Santana and 0 pitching depth. Trading for one more pitcher makes us contenders? Get them to July first and see what our young kids have done in the rotation... We don't have many trade chips outside of Dozier, which if you are making a playoff run, you wouldn't trade. I would throw out Eddie Rosario, he of the .254/.273/.661 slash line. I know people love Eddie, but these numbers are close to his career norms. I think we are starting to see that he is what he is. A good fielding LF, who is a below average player at the plate. With Lamonte Wade doing what he is doing at Chattanooga and a former college player, I would very much consider this options along with some prospects if we get to that point. Not to mention Britton at AAA.
  8. Grossman cannot field, rarely hits, and has average speed at best. He walks a lot and strikes out looking a lot. Why is he our 4th OF and DH? I wouldn't mind seeing Britton up here soon, who is very good defensively and walks a lot. And could pinch run. Yes he does not have power, but RG doesn't either. Eventually I think Wade will get up here (hopefully by the end of year, as he is a college guy, but doubt that) and possibly be Rosario's replacement. Eddie's at his norms right? .275 ave, .295 ob%?
  9. Now would be a nice time for BDoz to come through in the clutch...
  10. Colorado a sac bunt, with no out and guys on first and 2nd and up by 1. In the 2nd inning? Is Molly coaching both teams today?
  11. Interesting article here: http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2017/5/18/15656078/minnesota-twins-first-place-american-league-central-mlb Notes the Twins nice defensive metrics, but points out some other stuff. The info on the two players who are carrying us (Sano/Santana), is very interesting. I sent the link because the timing of that article and Nick's are coincidental.
  12. I get some of the angst, because TK is one of us. However, Ortiz is writing an auto biography, so this is going to be from his perspective only. This is his story to tell. I can understand any of us disagreeing with him, but Seth, for someone who goes out of his way to not criticize the twins, even when they deserve it, I find your rant on Ortiz, somewhat bizarre and far from objective. It's your opinion though, I just hope we see it used more toward our local 9. I do agree that TK has said nothing but positive things. He has been 100% class in all this.
  13. I'd rather have Polonco swinging as well, but c'mon Molly, you have a duck on the pond you let your young player drive him in...in no scenario should buxton be bunting in that situation, especially in the 2nd inning. Molly will probably say it was his choice. Well then Paul I hope you told him that was not the right spot, and take a crack at driving him in
  14. I am trying to catch up on here...did I see that Buxton sacrificed, in the 2nd with a man on 2nd and nobody out? No chance of a force out, but we sacrifice in the 2nd? Same guy who his next at bat hits a bomb? Also threw Hughes back out in the 6th, when his numbers against teams seeing him for the 3rd time are awful (well there are not a lot of those numbers as he rarely gets outs). Also, Grossman has one bobble for an extra base (possible), and later kicked a ball for an error/run? I guess a positive is both Buck and Castro got a hit in the same game.
  15. Are we wishing for a rain out so we don't have to have that 5th starter? Or at least it buys us some time to figure out what to do about said 5th? Just throwing Gibby out there because we have nobody else, is not the answer IMO.
  16. Just to add to the Grossman tradability for a RP better than Pressley (not my words). Has anyone forgotten, just how awful he was as an outfielder? He saw lots of playing time in left field last year, and there were many many comparisons to Willingham and D Young on these threads. Yeeesh.... My meaning, similar to Spycake, is in May, there is no market for R. Grossman for an average plus RP in MLB. He's getting a bit of the squeeze now that Kennys in playing, which I am fine with, but I also think that Joe could play a little less, so we can figure out what we have in Kennys, and Grossman.
  17. Not sure I want Wimmers or Baxendale at the MLB level when we have Metokolis and Burdi, who have way, way more upside and are no longer young prospects. I am not sure why you wouldn't just bring them up over those two you mention. Obviously Shaggy I am comfortable with when he's fully healthy.
  18. Bullpen gonna be tested today.... Send Vargas down after the game for a journey man veteran BP arm? Who we got down there?
  19. Hard to blame him when he's in an epic battle with Jaff....had to pitch around him.
