  1. This year, the Twins are kicking the feet out from under their Fan Base. Last place Team. Cut the payroll by 20%. I won't even get into the promises made to the Season Ticket Holders. There's still some time to change this scenario.
  2. Zygi Wilf and the Vikings put a high price on wining, despite having the second lowest revenue in the league. Money is the top priority for the Pohlad's.
  3. Aren't the Twins still 15-17 million under last year's payroll?
  4. I think of Ryan as the Guy who shows up to a Sotheby's Art Auction with $50 dollars in his pocket.
  5. My point was this, The Twins got a bargain with Willingham on one end, overpaying for a reliable Pitcher on the other end would not be a mortal sin.
  6. Sometimes you overpay in one area and balance it out with a bargain in another.
  7. At a Season Ticket holder Conference, Ryan stated that he would use all means possible to bring in high quality pitchers and significantly improve the Starting Staff. Payroll would not be an issue. Ryan has not been very honest up to this point. Hopefully this can be subject to change.
  8. The Twins are back to being a small market Franchise. Boy, that didn't take long. 27 Million Dollars came off the books. The Twins have plenty of resources to be an active player in the F.A.market. They choose not too.
  9. Twins Fans who buy tickets pay Major Market prices. This is one reason payroll strikes a nerve with many of us. If you pay some of the highest prices in Baseball, you expect a quality product in return.
  10. Last September, Ryan directly told the Season Ticket Holders that he would do what was necessary to build a contending Team in 2013. That was when the Twins were asking for our Money. Now that they have it, the story might be changing. Keep dumping on us and see what happens!
  11. Someone asked on the Trib. page "Would we have to give back the bag of Balls???"
  12. The Twins will never talk about the years that they underpaid the payroll. In 2008-09, the payroll was not even close to 50% of revenue. As a result, the Twins pretax earnings were in the upper third of Baseball. Payroll Revenue 2008: $57 million $158 million 2009: $65 million $162 million 2010: $97 million $213 million Pretax earnings 2008 6th 27.2 million 2009 9th 25 million
  13. Take Joe Moddon off the list. He acquired a 95+ loss mess. Maddon's Ray's had 97 wins in just year three.
  14. It does not take a lot of Money to improve a MLB. Bullpen, but it does take great scouting. (see Tampa Rays) It will be disappointing if the Twins do not attempt to upgrade the Bullpen. The Twins Bullpen ranks in the middle of the League. Is this good enough? Has Swarzak earned another Scholarship for next year?
  15. There is NO chance that a second Minor League Team will ever play at the new Ball Park. The Ball Park is being built for the Saints. For years, the Saints have lobbied and fought for it. They are throwing in 10 million dollars of their own money. They would not spend money on a project which could damage their business or put them out of business. The Saints would probably sue the Port Authority and the City of SaintPaul if an attempt was made to bring in a second Team. Is there enough Fans to support these two Teams? Since the opening of TargetField, Saints attendance has taken a large drop to averaging 4915 per game, still well ahead of most Class A Ball Clubs. Regarding the Facility’s, most American Association Stadiums meet MLB Class A standards. Chris Coleman has a tendency to shoot off his mouth from time to time. I wouldn’t put much stock in his comment. St. Peter is saying all the right things.
  16. Jim Souhan probably started the (Twins angry at Span talk) That is why I cited him.
  17. What?!? Please elaborate. You can't just throw that out there. You don't have to divulge your sources but it would be great to hear more on that nugget you dropped. Last week, Jim Souhan stated on 1500 that the Twins were getting fed up with Span. Not surprisingly, Souhan did not give his source. From time to time, the Twins have used Souhan as a back channel attack Dog.
  18. A few months ago, a good number of people wanted to see Perkins traded for a Prospect. Whats changed???
  19. No. The Twins are trailblazers here. They are cutting payroll while the ballpark is still brand new. Most teams use new ballparks to increase payroll while the Twins cut payroll in the attempt to bring revenue to a manageable level. They were spending too much money on green eye-shades, carbon paper and new technology like abacuses. The Pohalds are trying to copyright this strategy with the tagline: Think Different Last 2 seasons in Metrodome: 2008: $56 million 2009: $65 million First 2 seasons in Target Field: 2010: $95 million 2011: $112 million Your post was bad, and you should feel bad. Let me add the Twins Revenue to your numbers. 2008: $56 million $ 158 million 2009: $65 million $ 162 million 2010: $95 million $213 million 2011: $112 million $ 213 million The Twins have stated that they spend approximately 50% of revenue on payroll. Except for 2011, they are not even close. According to the business plan the Pohlad's sell us, the Twins have been under paying their payroll, three out of the last four years.
  20. Unfortunately, we could be heading down the same path. Cleveland was once a winning Team with a new Ball Park. As revenue drops, the Payroll will follow. Whats keeping us from being the next San Diego Padres or the Colorado Rockies, Our pitching rich Farm System? They have beautiful Ballparks too.
  21. We have seven more games left from our Season Ticket package. The Tickets are worth next to nothing on Stub Hub. At the same time, the Twins are hitting us up for Money on next year's tickets.
  22. Let's see, Scott Diamond was one of the first Pitchers cut in Spring Training. I guess, the Twins Brass were also right on that one.
  23. I don't think anyone here is saying the medical staff is without fault and some of those comments are certainly damning. But that information is still incomplete, especially if you're trying to make a case to fire the "Twins medical staff". Who were these doctors? Were they the same person? Were they even part of the Twins' medical staff? How many different people came to this same conclusion about that particular injury? Is "rest and rehab" a part of the training staff's job or does the medical staff make that call? Are those two groups the same thing? We know so little about both the medical profession and this portion of the Twins organization that we're still firing shots in the dark. Yesterday I stated the following, "Comments by Players who have had issues with their treatment have been documented in the Print and Broadcast Media" Several Forum Members have requested documentation which supports such a claim. I have attempted to document the comments of five Twins Players. That's it.
