  1. I was an Onion & Garlic man. A very stinky, chubby teen. I could buy a bag, and make it disappear in two minutes. The trick is storing it as belly fat.
  2. I really like Eddie Rosario. He's a clever rascal.
  3. I blame Old Dutch potato chips.
  4. That strikeout of Napoi... That was Jose Berrios. He's going to whiff a lot of batters.
  5. Can't blame Santana for not being as fast as Buxton. Who is?
  6. Berrios looks very nervous. I admire his attempt to control his adrenaline.
  7. Berrios has a very funky change-up. 83mph, and it fades right quite a bit. He's going to get some very sneaky strike 3's with that...
  8. I agree. Kirby Puckett said a curve ball was a gift from god because a lot of pitchers throw a curve with a little hump in it that allows you to get under it and drive it a long way. A really good curve has almost no hump. It starts at a certain level, then goes down, not letting the batter get under it. I expect Berrios to get tons of ground ball outs from that curve.
  9. Wow, three runs. Now maybe we'll see Berrios relax and bring his game!
  10. I like how Santana still is using the good hip turn from before his muscle pull. He's starting to look like a really good all-around ballplayer.
  11. Finally, a company that has as much faith in Tyler Duffey as I do! And money to back it up!!
  12. Hard to imagine why a national sportswriter would make a comment like, "The southpaw continues to show he just flat-out knows how to pitch..." if all Gonsalves had was a fastball. His scouting grades from the Twins site: Fastball: 55 | Curve: 50 | Slider: 40 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 50 | Overall: 50 Does anybody ever update those blurbs and grades?
  13. Congratulations to JO Berrios. May the game of baseball be berry, berry good to you!
  14. Darn, now it won't go 16 innings. Okay, hurrah for Ozzie Arcia. He cranked a most palpable hit into the right field stands. Becoming a hitter?
  15. Most relievers get beat now and then. Pressley has a good, live arm and usually is effective.
  16. Maybe this game will go 16 innings too! Then we'd see Meyer, I bet...
  17. MLB's replay system does seem to work most of the time. Only a couple I've seen looked stupidly wrong.
  18. Everybody thought Jon Snow would wake up in a wolf's body. Imagine his surprise... :-)
  19. They lost me with the talking horse. I just can't suspend my disbelief that much. But I will admit, the Red Witch has an amazing beauty secret... ;-)
  20. Damn, Bert, you just gave away the secret of Oil of Olay.
  21. If his mechanics are fixed, then he should be able to pitch well in various situations, like Trevor May, but with hotter stuff.
  22. Duffey looks about the same as last season. Looks like he's trying to throw a few more change ups, but they're just get-me-over offerings, not corner-clipping heart breakers. His bread and butter still is his variety of curve balls. Even if batters are sitting on Duffey's curve, he throws them with enough variety and precision to make them pay. Meanwhile, if they sit on the curve too much, he can pop his so-so heater by them. It's a pretty good combination, certainly better than what Milone is doing these days.
  23. Dang, who drove the riding mower through the hen house? I ain't heard this much cluckin' since Aunt Bea wore a tube top to the cotillion! Andy near fell over, and Barney's gun went off, didn't even touch it! It's a bit early in a 162 game season to fire the manager, cut guys and send a bunch more to the minors. The Twins do have lots of talent in AAA, but the guys that are already here could just as well start hitting balls, pitching better and catching better. One thing we learned today is that the DH situation is even more awkward when we play a national league team. Not only does Park ride the bench, but Twins pitchers seem particularly inept at batting. Another thing we learned is that this team is going to get pounded by the league's better teams, like the Nats. With that, the surest move I'd make is to part ways with Casey Fien. He pitched pretty well for a couple years, but now it looks like there's better talent awaiting. Shaggy time! Admittedly I just want to see a Twins pitcher that can throw a ball 100 miles per hour. Same reason I'd do the move with O'Rourke, Milone and Berrios. Milone bumps O'Rourke for the same reason Berrios bumps Milone. Why have a LOOGY when you can have a lefty that gets both sides out? Why have an okay starter with average stuff when you can have a really good starter with electric stuff? And there I stop. Some of the position players are looking rough, but I keep putting them out there. Even with their struggles, Sano, Buxton, Rosario and Arcia are talented players that could get hot at any moment. Sano and Rosario are looking better at the plate. Arcia needs to work harder on his fielding and keep showing discipline at the plate. Buxton is just too good to lose his range in center. Mostly we just need to let the boys play.
  24. http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3970222592/tt0058329?ref_=tt_ov_i I thought you were talking about Tippi Hedron in the Hitchcock movie.
