  1. so this means Bats in the Pelfrey somehow lands on the 60 day DL to begin the season? I'm good with that! I'm also fine with Hicks starting in CF to begin the season. They brought Hunter in to mentor, so let him start mentoring. If Hicks still can't figure it out, at least we gave him every opportunity. As for Santana, I hope he stays at SS all year. It's time to see if he can play there. If he fails miserably, we have another candidate to play LF next year, next to Buxton.
  2. I certainly hope Santana is our SS this year, & not bouncing around between the SS & CF. Find out if he's our SS, and plug other stiffs into CF for now. We brought in Torii to mentor, so stick Hicks back there, and see if he can get his act together until Buxton gets here! AS for Pitchers, none of those names on the list outside of Ervin Santana do anything for me. We've done the Correia/Pelfrey/Ponson/Nolasco thing, and it hasn't worked. I'm hopeful Nolasco turns things around this year to be respectable (something like 12-10,4.1), so anyone not named Santana would just be someone we need to cut bait on come late June.
  3. It's like a child hearing something from a parent, or me teaching my wife to golf. If I point something out, I'm a moron and know nothing. If a friend says the exact same thing, in the exact same manner, it's like the word of God being spoken. There's some things that respected players can "coach" that will be heeded 1000X more than a coach saying it.
  4. I'm really hoping our management change means we WON'T be seeing guys playing out of position just to fill a need. It's time to put Santana at SS, and leave him there. Playing him in CF made no sense if we're looking toward the future. Buck is the CF of the future, and it's time to find out if we have our SS of the future.
  5. I hear rumors of another St Paul native possibly being added as pitching coach, in Jack Morris.
  6. I'm happy for Molitor, and called for this hiring years ago. What remains to be seen isn't how knowledgeable he is about all aspects of the game, but can he handle the players thru the day to day grind. What drove me nuts about Gardy was he seemed unable to deal with a young player with attitude. They'd end up in the dog house quick, and stay there. I hope Gardy can get the young guys focused, having fun, and playing hard, even with little owies. What remains to be seen is if Moli knows how to handle these guys; when to coddle, and when to kick butt.
  7. Agree! This is yet another reason I was happy to see Gardy go, as this should've been happening 2014 (and probably 2013). Instead, we end up with another 90+ losses, and still don't know exactly what we have. Everyone agrees Buxton is the CF for the future, but Gardy insists on playing Santana out there, instead of finding out if we have our SS of the future, too. I'm interested to see what the young guys can do, especially under a new manager, but once again, it's a year longer to wait.
  8. OK, I'm still an admitted Joe Mauer apologist (haven't gone to any meetings yet), but i believe the question of moving Joe to LF has more to do with the upcoming IF talent. To say Joe shouldn't play LF because we need someone with high avg, great power, & steals bases? Last I checked, every team wants a perennial all star like that.
