  2. Aaron and John talk about the Twins clinging to their spot atop the worst division in baseball, why there are no easy solutions for the slumping, strikeout-prone lineup, Alex Kirilloff and Ryan Jeffers providing rare bright spots, and how much longer the Twins can possibly stick with Max Kepler. 3. Here's my favorite behind-the-scenes thing about this story. Stu was dealing with technical problems so the story came in late morning. At that time, both Seth and I were busy so I sent a text message to our founders to see who could jump on it, edit it, and publish it ASAP. Parker Hageman, who has done that about twice in the past five years, responded that he was free and would get right on it. 8-)
  4. Aaron and John talk about Carlos Correa's foot injury, Royce Lewis' imminent return, Edouard Julien and Matt Wallner getting chances to impress, and Byron Buxton running fast and getting up slow. 5. Aaron and John discuss the blessedly sad state of the AL Central, Tyler Mahle's Tommy John surgery, Jose Mirada's future as the Twins' third baseman, and Ale Kirilloff's impact on the lineup. 6. Aaron and John talk about Byron Buxton being at the peak of his DH powers, why the Alex Kirilloff equation could be changing soon, Carlos Correa showing signs of life, Jose Miranda digging a deeper hole, and meat raffle investigations. 7. Aaron and John talk about beating the Yankees, injuries to Kenta Maeda and Tyler Mahle opening rotation spots for Bailey Ober and Louie Varland, why Alex Kirilloff is blocked, Byron Buxton, Jorge Polanco, and Joey Gallo leading the lineup, and the upside of Brock Stewart. 8. It's a special game time with special happy hour ... um, specials! Let's not miss this one! This Friday, the Twins Daily Social Club will be rallying at a Twins game - and you're invited! The Twins are trying out, for the first time, their 612 Happy Hour. What is that? We're all about breakdowns here at Twins Daily, so here it is: $6 beers $1 pop $2 hot dogs and a special 3:10 PM game time (so it happens during happy hour). Twins Daily's community will be rallying at the Gray Duck Deck near the left field foul pole where John Bonnes will be the celebrity bartender. Plus we'll all be hanging out with other Twins Daily writes to celebrate spring and the baseball season. Gray Duck Deck is a great place to watch the game, as it overlooks the field, has counters for your drinks and food, and serves up their signature tasty Bomba Juice cocktails. (John suggests you get a double.) Also, it's covered and there are heat lamps, so even when the weather isn't cooperating, it's a comfortable place to watch the game. So start planning your escape from work on Friday afternoon. The Twins haven't done this before and there is no guaranteed they try it again, especially not with prices this low. Start your weekend early with Twins Daily, Gray Duck and the Twins! View full article

  13. If you missed it, don't despair. We'll do more. Over 350 Twins fans attended Twins Daily Social Club's pregame party at Tom's Watch Bar prior to the Twins' home opener on Friday afternoon. The afternoon included a lot of socializing, games, baseball cards, and Gray Duck Vodka Game Change Shots. Needless to way it both had and built a lot of energy for the 3-2 win over Houston. Vikings legend Chad Greenway also joined the party to help us with our Last Fan Standing game. The winner got a great prize pack and a Twins/Gray Duck Tin Tacker that Greenway signed. The final giveaway of the day was a limited edition Carlos Correa bat, but just as good was how fans qualified to win it. Each received a pack of six vintage baseball cards and had to trade with others to get "six of a kind." It could be all the same position, same team, same pose, or just guys with mustaches (and man did a lot of ballplayers have mustaches on those vintage cards). Of course, some people also opted to just keep them..... And Tom's did a great job of keeping everyone fed and, um, let's say hydrated. It was a great time, and we want to thank everyone who joined us. We'll try to do more of them soon, because Twins Daily isn't just about great Twins' writing, it's also about building community. In the meantime, whether you made it or not, you can see pictures from the event by searching #TwinsDailySocialClub on Twitter. View full article
