  1. Joe Mauers mom would have made u eat Kemps! At least till last year.
  2. That was me, but I know he can hit, but he is not a SS. In a sad confession, I was typing one of those posts while the ball was sailing outa here. Lol
  3. Not per se, but either he is the one of the only people around who do not think it important to give Santanna reps at SS, or he has made up his mind one way or the other, or he is under orders from upstairs not to. He often talks of doing one thing, but never does it. He can put out any lineup he wants, he is the guy. But since the 11th game after the ASG, he would have been doing the team a favor by treating the rest of the season as spring training.
  4. From some of the posts here, I am not sure that it is just nuts in them brownies?
  5. I am not sure why Gardy's exit should be controversial. Continuing on a march to -90. Has played Nunez at short much more often than Santanna? Insists on needing a certain catcher to "mentor" the upcoming young pitchers, and then catches Pryor either 2 of 3 or 3 of 4 times in Mays first games. Whoops, gotta run Marnie is doing the lottery winners for Bert... Later
  6. I was a little confused about tonight's lineup, until Marnie had Gardy on to explain how the guys can really run around out there... In fact he is worried they will run into each other.
  7. I don't have a problem with giving Nunez another game, there are days he impresses me a little. He is better than I thought. But I would not have done it at the expense of Santanna at short. In the 3 games we have had expanded rosters he has 7 innings there. There is no need to "audition" him in center. He is what he is, a good athlete who might turn into an adequate center fielder. Maybe a little better if u let him there, but short of a disaster Buxton will take that over. When Gardy does things like this, I get perplexed!
  8. Last night was fun to watch, I imagine it was a teaser tho, and the A team will be back on the field tonight.... Note that Arcia ripped two balls to the left side, and these were off legitimate go with the pitch situations. No matter what, it has been a long time since this club had the potential for this kind of power, and I might add, athleticism!
  9. Well dick, I hear a large woman singing Well Bert, she actually started singing in about mid May, but you were on your 3 week golf vacation in Florida Well dick that explains it, they don't have fat women in Florida!
  10. There are times when I swear he does this on purpose.... Just to show that no one can tell him who to play? I have always wondered about the depth of his "dog house" and temper. It does not seem possible that the only time he blow up is at umpires. But it might be the only time we see it?
  11. Well Bert I think it's Pinball Wizard? What do you think? Well dick, I don't listen to music like that!
  12. Well dick we are into the 5th with a tie score, what do you think? Well Bert, I am not sure! We never been this close in the 5th before?? Well dick this reminds me of a couple of [insert certain religious group here] who were invited into a home that they had called on. When asked by the homeowner what they wanted to talk about, they looked at each other, shrugged and one said " we don't know, we never got this far before"! Well Bert what did you think of the job tommy milone did tonight?
  13. Well dick you for got to put well dick in front of your "you forgot to put well dick in front of that" My head is starting to hurt, I feel like I have been listening to the hawk!
  14. Well Bert it sure took you a long time to get that! It must be your California reading classes that caused your lack of comprehension.
  15. Well dick, do u think Gardy is gonna use this time to evaluate players, or see that the boys get their performance bonuses and go for that 73rd win? Well Bert, I don't know! Gardy's been in this league a long time, and you won't find another manager who would be better suited to make such a decision. Well Roy, what do yu think? Well guys, I think Arcia needs to stop dropping his hands before he swings! Well Roy, I think u might have mentioned that in his previous 27 PA? Wel that wraps it up for tonight, stay tuned for Gardy's press conference and a replay of Marnies mn lottery winners!
  16. A question about the pitching? The Twins are historically near the top of the list for least walks allowed. Walking batters in this organization is not a good idea. Call down to Houston and ask Sammy what happens. Is this so philosophically engrained in our pitchers that corners become a thing to be avoided? Why not work around a guy with first open, to get to a lesser evil? Carl Pavanno talked often of this and did it. (Save the shots at CP, he is the only Twins pitcher I could think of who would do that). The Twins throw a lot of strikes, but if you are only throwing strikes to not walk anyone, those are not the kind of strikes that get people out.
  17. Everyone, including myself has taken turns defending the honor of specific players. By now this includes the entire roster, with the exception of the batboy. But to clarify my previous submission, it is the sum of these parts that is the problem. A Dozier is a nice 2B, an Escobar could play short or second for many good teams, and a Suzuki could catch for a contender. But those teams will have superior players at other positions, and these guys will be major league level "fill ins". Well that might be a bit harsh, but they will not be the engine that drives the train. They are all major league level players, and in some cases very decent ones. But there are too many clustered on one team at one time. A couple examples, with no particular bias.... Dozier hit in the 3 hole this year. Plouffe hit in the 4 hole. I do not mean to say that on those days they were not the TWINS best options, what I mean to say is that if they are, that is a reflection on the entire roster as it currently is constructed!
  18. My oldest son made this point yesterday when talking about the Twins. To paraphrase, we have become satisfied with the level of play. We are satisfied to have a SS in CF, a utility guy playing short, someone in left we picked up, a third baseman who is at best mildly ordinary, and collectively possibly the worst SP staff in the majors, a catcher who cannot throw out runners. I excused Dozier because he can field with the best, and Arcia because he is 23 and has potential where he is. So does Santanna, but not out there, with us not having a SS. His point, and I agree is this team has lost 90 games 3 (4) years in a row. And this team as it is now fielded will continue to lose. Maybe the question should be, IS there only one spot open? Or SHOULD there only be one spot open. In theory, if you lose 90 for four years in a row, there should be 25 spots open!
  19. Delbinson Romero not included? Do we really need to see Chris Hermann yet again? They KNOW what the results will be. He is what he is. You don't need to see him again to evaluate. Several of these spots were awarded as favors. But it is what it is. Hopefully they rest Mauer, Dozier, Plouffie, and Suzukiie. And some of the relievers. But out of the 8 probably the only true look see needs to be Pinto BEHIND THE PLATE, not at DH. And Hicks in center so Santanna can get a look at short. Tonkin and Darnell in spot situations. I wonder how Suzuki's upcoming potential for bonuses will affect Gardies distribution of playing time?
  20. Actually he is just like all the other twins pitchers..... An inning or to of tease... (Frankly a more interesting tease than the others). Then BOOM! It could be as simple as the low strikeout rates do not allow you to get out of a pickle? But whatever the reason it's still BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!!
  21. But the question is: what is wrong? Why does every SP here border on mediocre at best? Is it as simple as Andy? Pitch to contact? Whatever it is, it's getting old!
  22. Looks like Gardy read Soo's column! He moved EE off short!!! Well, maybe he only read the first half, since he has Nunez there! Maybe the early edition of the Trib in Baltimore did not include the whole column??
  23. I mostly agree for some of these reasons..... What better time to bring up Hicksie than now? Wait till going north next year, based on spring training vs hitting off of playoff bound pitching? That's been done before! That leaves one a chance to give Santanna some evaluation at short. A playoff bound team does not have him in CF or EE as a shortstop. But it would be great to have EE as a utility player. So for the mean time he moves to third, which means Plouffie has to go somewhere. Try him in left this fall, what can happen? Lose 90 games? Shafer has grown on me, (god I hate to type that). But the sample is small, and for some reason I don't trust him. But he has done nothing not to deserve a continued look. He is definitely 4th OF material, and great to have as a pinch runner. Lastly, Souhan did not address one of the other changes to consider! Changing the field staff. And that would have to include some personnel considerations to reflect the incoming number of Latin players.
  24. Maybe he forgot more than that? There was a report that he was using the slide step, with the bases loaded before the Davis bomb! I did not notice that, but I did wonder at the time why he was pitching from the stretch, bases loaded, and a non bunting situation? The numbers shown above make it even more difficult to understand. Is it against major league protocol to yell out of the dugout...... WHY DONT YOU USE THE WINDUP??
  25. The way Gardy is going lately we are gonna need a bigger bus!
