  1. Worley is a #4 pitcher on a team who has 3 HOF pitchers. For the Twins we are looking at our Ace for the next two years.
  2. Your ****ting me right. He pulls off two huge trades we have all been asking for and in an interview he says one thing about a guy...and we fly off the handle. Who doesnt hope he can come back and be respectable...he is still a good guy. You talk as if he had a homophobic slur written on his eyeblack. All he has ever done is try to find his sinker...and usually give up meatballs. Give the guy a break. So what if he does good and then flops...better than paying him 5 mil to pitch at rochester every 5 days
  3. Chances the TWINS sign Michael "Jason" Bourn??? That is what this offseason was about.
  4. Can't wait to hear John call these guys "C" prospects
  5. Anything else coming back? A couple of "C" prospects perhaps
  6. What about Hicks and Morneau? I think that is what they would ask for, not that I would pull the trigger on that deal. Maybe a throw-in from Texas like Olt or Profar...I like to kid around...but Hicks for Morneau what do you think?
  7. Because he has better command, throws just as hard, and already has a great feel for his change. There's a reason he went in the top 4, and was in the discussion at #1 overall, and Meyer was a late first round guy. The later guys generally have more warts, and the guys that go at the very top are usually more polished. And I'd guess they passed because they had Buxton higher on their board. Best player available is the only way to go when you're picking at the top of the draft. I am going to to have to disagree with you. In all do respect, Meyer and Gausman are about the same as far as prospects go. You can't take into account where a guy was drafted. Had Meyer been in this years draft, he would have been up there with the Gausmans and Appels. That is like saying Berrios is not in the same league as Wimmers because he was drafted much later. For one, Meyers fell because he was a Boras guy. But mainly, Meyers was taken in possibly the deepest draft since the first draft in 1965 (wikipedia.com). On the flipside, last years draft was historically shallow. I would argue that Meyers and Gausman will be similarly ranked in all national prospect lists and Meyer has a leg up as he has pitched a full season already. I say this with all do respect to Frodaddy G Bones.
  8. Other teams do the same thing with there guys, especially a Boras guy. Your God damn right its about the money. It is about getting an extra year out of a guy. What would you rather have: a full season of Meyer in 2013 or 2014 as a rookie learning the ropes and a free agent/trade candidate in 2017? Or a guy who plays half of 2014 (hopefully in a pennant race) and then a free agent/trade candidate in 2020? I would take the latter wouldn't you? I hope that we can't sign this guy long term because it means he maxed out his potential. Who knows, maybe a small market fan ENDS Boras...if you know what I'm saying
  9. Super 2 status? Is this why Antony Slama hasn't been called up. Makes sense. It is always about the money with the Twins...FREE SLAMA!!! P.S. Is it just me or does this Jamie Kennedy guy look a lot like Anthony Slama?
  10. I am also under this impression. The guy had 7 games at high A last year. SEVEN. Lets allow him some developmental time before we throw him out there. The question shouldn't be 2013, it should be whether or not we throw him out during 2014 at all.
  11. b o o m <-----------------------Nick Punto
  12. Hustley??? Did we just become best friends...YUP!!!
  13. Not even close to enough "eaten" 10 mil for one year of a guy who has pitched like 117 IP in the past two season is to much. Especially if you are giving up a legit prospect in Benson. Benson is no longer a "legit" prospect. We would be lucky to get Johan for him.
  14. We knew this would happen. I don't know why we are sad about this. There is no reason to go out and spend money on a top tier guy, when we are 4-5 top tier guys away from winning. We are a horrible team right now and overpaying for a Sanchez is bad business. Nothing in the Twins history or hearing from Terry Ryan has told us otherwise. The fact that we might sign three new guys for the rotation is very un-twinslike. My guess is Saunders for 2 years at about 18-20, Liriano for 5 (and hopefully gets his trade value up and we trade him again), and maybe, maybe a guy like McCarthy. A rotation of Saunders, Liriano, Diamond, McCarthy, and whatever AAAA pitcher pitches best in spring ball, is better than the rejects we threw out there last year. Is this a .500 rotation, probably not. But Liriano in the bullpen in July when Gibson comes up makes this a better, younger rotation. I don't mean to beat the drum on Liriano, but the guy (gulp) has potential.
  15. Does Saunders being left handed jump him up two spots in a rotation?
  16. We'll stop talking about him when another team has a blunder as mammoth as that one. It has everything you look for in a bust/bad deal. Trading a proven commodity at the hardest position to find talent (a position the franchise has been poor in for at least the past decade), getting virtually nothing in exchange for a proven commodity, a huge posting fee and contract for an infield japanese player, a player that will go down as one of the worst in not just twins history, but baseball history, a guy that was so bad, he actually gave up millions of dollars because he was disrespecting his ancestors (Shinto) by taking a big paycheck. Did I mention that when he did play in the Majors, you had to have the puke bucket ready because he would either make you laugh until you vommitted or you his play would be so bad he would make you vommit. And this proven commodity you traded, won another gold glove this year That is why we keep talking about him. His Shinto ways discraced the Twins ancestors and we are the worst team in the majors...possibly from this deal alone.
  17. Look at from a business aspect...Hardy didn't have reporters from Japan all over him. He didn't have a supermodel wife/girlfriend who was the biggest thing on the small islands of Japan. Nishi brought our franchise only wealth and prosperity...not to mention great at turning the double play with his new best buddy Brendan Harris. I said good ridens to JJ then, and I stick to it.
  18. Liriano and Sauders have no been given offers. I get Liriano, but aren't he and Saunders number 5 type guys?
  19. An outfield of Willingham, Mastrionni, and Parmalee may be the worst defensive unit in a long time. If Reverre doesn't get traded, I think we see Mastrioni out there a lot and would rarely see Willingham AND Parmalee playing together. If you trade Revere, we're looking at some serious holes in what was once a tea strength in the outfield.
  20. Three Revere trade threads=awesomeness
  21. Because he is only 29, still has potential as a mid-rotation guy, and multiple team are bidding on him. The guy is going to take the best deal with the most money or multiple years. My guess is someone will be willing to put in a second year. He will take the second year and run to the bank with it.
  22. 2 for 20 with a team option of 11 mil for a third year. A guy who got his head almost knocked off for 10mil scares me.
  23. I remember when a player would sign for less than 5 million on a make good contract. My how times have changed. Baseball is getting ridiculous with all the money.
  24. Blanton would be an upgrade and maybe teach the young guys coming up how to pitch. We will def suck with him as our ace but hes better than de vries
