  1. Man is this site promotion crazy. No way should he be promoted. Cant we just say he is having a good season instead of ripping the Twins. This guy strikes out over a quarter of the time...in high A. I honestly do not see him being able to handle big league pitching. He might be a top 20 prospect...but abwii has a long way to go.
  2. When did Hicksie get promoted? Can you call it promoted or just moved back?
  3. Buxton...i swear...i need to be put on watch if he is down again. I swear.
  4. No need for most of these promotions. Trevor May will get a shot soon but not at the expense of cutting Kevin C. Depth at SP is not a bad thing. KC is nothing great, but even 4s and 5s have value. Jared Burton has a good enough track record that you cant just cut him either. Kubel, sure. Gilmartin, maybe. You have some other good moves and i think vargas might get moved or be a september callup. I think another possible move might be a trade of willingham. Dude is mashing and is finally healthy. If we fall out of contention he might be first guy gone.
  5. I have officially put my eggs in the buxton basket. Plus i put some eggs in buxtons basket that werent even mine...he is the cf of the not so distant future...like next may.
  6. But seriously no way would i pick walberg. We need a big italian. A big bearded italian. How about that guy "pussy" from sopranos (no clue what his name is). Lets face it, if its a sports movie it would have to be costner. I could see it. Or maybe a kevin james
  7. Big day tomorrow for pitchers...milb.tv app will be on fire
  8. Because it is just an average ranking of analysts. Obp has nothing to do with it...maybe they watch the pitching staff and assume the record cant last...which it cant
  9. But that outfield will have a guy named Buxton as early July roaming center. By 2015 we could have an outfield of Hicks, Buxton, and Rosario (assuming he ends up in OF). That gives us possibly the best defensive outfield in the league, at least the fastest. Arcia could split between RH and DH. Next year the Twins could still be .500 if Gibson takes a step forward and becomes a #3/4 starter. The rotation now looks passible for the first time in years.
  10. First, at least someone read your blog, I enjoy your writing. Second, I am not disagreeing I am simply pointing out that we are comparing stats. Is this Yangervis guy going to better than Dozier? Maybe. But who knows. I am not a SABR guy by any means, but I would have to guess Dozier is at about replacement level. I agree that our Twins have had a horrible time or are terrible at developing middle infielders. This is a fact that any swinging Richard on the street could tell you. But if you look at any organization, this happens. Do you think the A's or Reds made good decisions on Jared Burton? Do you think the Astros made a good decision on Johan Santana? You never know how a guy is going to react or how he is going to develop. I have heard Keith Law and Buster Olney whom are very respected in baseball, say they do not blame the Twins for trading Calos Gomez and letting Big Papi walk. My point here is, you can't just look at how a guy is hitting in AAA years after the fact. Now if you want to talk about letting Joe Benson go for nothing, even if he doesn't pan out, then we can talk. Chill Shane, you are a good blogger when you aren't so damn negative. That is a compliment btw.
  11. Comparing AAA stats to a guy who is in the majors...nice
  12. Should all stadiums North of the Mason Dixie line...nay...north of Kentucky, have a roof? This is getting ridiculous.
  13. Got to keep them down. The point is that you get another year of their prime versus their rookie year. This is why the best teams do it. Do you think that Harper and Trout deserved to be on the roster in May? Probably. But even they got held back a year so that they could gain another year of service for their respective teams. Hicks is no Trout or Harper so he should definatly be sent to Rochester to start the year.
  14. When is the sequal to the movie coming out?? Are there still camera's following him around minor league ball?
  15. I catch a hint of sarcasm...but I like it. Your method is less scientific than sabremetrics but probably just as effective. Plus you probably get laid more. Great blog!
  16. I think the top 10 for the Twins is going to be debateable on the order, but not on who makes it. After number 10, it becames a literally crapshoot. Tools vs. production. I like Nate Roberts and think he is a top-15 guy after a strong showing in the Arizona Fall League. I also would probably have some of those bullpen arms a little higher because they are almost sure fire major leaguers (Chargios and Corey Williams, etc.), but it all depends on how you rank. To pick 60 guys is kind of a tall order, especially in such a top heavy system like the Twins.

    Mauer Trade:

How many mil are we sending?
  18. Thrylos sympathizer huh? You don't have to be so mean about it (I would assume this would qualify as another garbage post)
  19. We should have a vote to remove thyroid...all in favor?
  20. Isn't it crazy how we give him a pass, yet we hate on Knoblauch?
  21. First, you have a gift for story telling. I was intrigued throughout the whole article. Second, I threw up all over my desk and some of my students. The good news is I got to go home for being sick (wouldn't want those little one's to get sick). The bad news is I am probably going to hang myself after reading such a nightmarish story. How dare you? I had to check back at who wrote the stroy because I was sure R.L. Stein (Goosebumps) wrote the story.
  22. "The teams may have figured out something since then. In the five years since, only eleven pitchers have reached that $20M level. No class since has had more than three pitchers reach that plateau. In fact, no class has had more than seven pitchers even get $10 million contracts." I don't have skill nor the time to look this up, but I was wondering how much pitchers re-upping with their old team has to do with not throwing all that money at FA's. The Phillies just did it this season, and if I'm not mistaken, didn't CC opt out of a deal around last summer and get a bigger deal from the Yanks? Just question's I would like answered. Thanks
  23. Yes, another toolsy outfielder with a high ceiling. I am so glad we have a million of those in our farm system that we can pass on guys like...Mike Trout. Nice!
  24. Too bad Span going on the DL killed his trade value. Hopefully he gets traded, Revere fills in at Center, and Hicks can take his time in AAA. Revere is an abover average centerfielder. WIth Span, we could have an outfield of Hicks in Left, Span in Center, and Revere in Right. Arcia could DH and play the Kubel role. The hammer could be San Fran or anywhere and we could get some great pitching prospects. Boy for the 3rd worst team in the league I sure am giddy with excitement... Now lets go out and spend 30 million on a pitcher or 2 and we will be good for 3rd in the Central
