Sanchez and Alfaro were both top prospects, consensus top 50 across all publications, for several seasons, and Stewart was a LHP, if he found success, he would have been a good throw-in - just goes to show that there is no such thing as a sure thing.

Vazquez wound up being a big overpay, but his 2019-2022 seasons didn't foreshadow that big of an offensive drop off. 3/$30 MM sounds about right for Jeffers, but his offensive value has been steadily dropping the last two seasons. No way do you offer him a QO.

Passan: Buxton Willing To Waive No-Trade Clause
mnfireman replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
My personal opinion is all. When I look at a thread and see BBTV in someone's post, I skip it, no matter how much good information may be contained in the post. My opinion is that there should be a thread dedicated to potential trades for posters wanting to throw out BBTV values when proposing trades. -
Passan: Buxton Willing To Waive No-Trade Clause

I may be in the minority here, but could the moderators/authors/contributors of TD please start a BBTV thread so the rest of us don't have to deal with this stupidity?? Thank you!! -

Passan: Buxton Willing To Waive No-Trade Clause
mnfireman replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Buxton currently has 9.160 years of MLB service, as soon as that clock hits 10, he can still block any trade as a 10/5 player, don't let that 5 team wording fool ya... -
The two go very much hand in hand, however a team is more likely to over-value one of its assets as compared to scouts rankings. However, as can be seen in the different national groups doing the rankings, a player's ranking/value can be hard to judge. I was just using one available tool to find similar values and trade possibilities, I chose MLB player/prospect rankings, but I could have just as easily used Fan Graphs.

Neither Ryan or Strotman top prospects, Ryan was TB's #14 prospect and Strotman was TB's #22 prospect. The fact that Cruz was only league average (101 OPS+) after the trade and struggled in the play-offs (they at least still made the play-offs) is a risk attached to trading for a 40 year old, DH only, type player. I don't think Ryan was projected to be as good as he as become, most reports I read saw him as a mid-rotation starter at best, though he did crack some Top 100 lists prior to the 2022 season. I'm sure the Twins saw something they liked, and he accepted the coaching, including going to Driveline, and had the drive to make himself better.

Using MLB Top 100 and their overall value: Berrios with 1.5 years of control returned #22 SS Martin (55) and #86 RHP SWR (55). Hence... Ryan with 2 years of control should get one of #24 SS Arias (55) or #28 LHP Tolle (55) and one of #85 RF/LF Garcia (55) or #89 RHP Witherspoon (55) from BOS (plus maybe a lower level prospect). OR #25 SS/2B Lombard Jr. (55) and either #74 RHP Lagrange (55) or #97 RHP Rodriguez (55) and one lower level prospect from NYY. I doubt neither BOS or NYY would do either of these deals...

Your making things up now, I didn't even look very hard and found 3 articles describing how hard Bradley works to better himself. He even accepted his demotion to AAA with humility, stating that he needed to work on things while he was there. https://throughthefencebaseball.com/where-does-taj-bradley-fit-in-the-tampa-bay-rays-rotation/ https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/taj-bradley-shows-marked-improvement/ https://facts.net/lifestyle/sports/50-facts-about-taj-bradley/

Varland is firmly entrenched as a HR-prone reliever now. His ERA was 4.94 to finish the season with Toronto, so he did not perform well. Despite setting a record for appearances in the play-offs, he gave up 4 HR in 16 IP and had an ERA of 3.94, not bad but not elite. What makes you think Ryan is immensely unhappy? He was upset the team didn't re-sign Gray, but other than that I didn't see anything stating he was unhappy.

Passan: Buxton Willing To Waive No-Trade Clause
mnfireman replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
My guess is that Buxton is "willing to waive" the no-trade clause means that Falvey and Buxton have discussed the possibility and have agreed that any deal has to be beneficial to both team and player; Falvey has to get a good return first, even then if Buxton doesn't want to go to that team - no deal. Buxton picks a team he wants to go to if they can't meet Falvey's request - no deal. Other team sweetens the pot, but asks for more players from Twins that Falvey doesn't want to part with - no deal. Nothing to see hear other than that the national sports media doesn't think that smaller market teams should have nice toys... -
Buxton can pick and choose where he wants to go, thus limiting the return.

Maybe, maybe not. The truth of the matter, whether we as fans like it or not, is that Prielipp is going to be on an innings limit this year and probably next. I would rather he get those innings at Target Field instead of CHS Field. If that means he has to pitch out of the 'pen, then so be it. He won't be the first young SP to get his MLB service time started there.

He didn't out-and-out say it, but strongly hinted at it. Per John Stevenson at Fan Recap: Minnesota’s broader strategy: build a bullpen from within, using arms that might not have stuck as starters but could thrive in shorter bursts. President of Baseball Operations Derek Falvey hinted at this approach last week at the GM meetings in Las Vegas. He pointed to Prielipp and Marco Raya-another high-upside arm already on the 40-man-as potential bullpen contributors. “You see Connor Prielipp throw the way he can at times, you see Marco Raya throw the way he has,” Falvey said. “I’m excited about that group in aggregate.”

Left Field Could Surprise Next Season
mnfireman replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree that the best players should be playing, however the guys making playing time decisions with the Twins do not. That and this team has several young players that have not been given the chance to adjust after the league makes adjustments, especially players that have come from other systems. I 100% hope Martin is the opening day LF and is given the chance to play 145 games out there, but I think the Twins are hoping he's Willie Castro 2.0 and want to play him all over the diamond. As far as batting him lead-off; no, that's Buxton's spot, and his best numbers have come out of that that spot. Martin batting 9th could be a nice weapon ahead of Buxton as pitchers might be more willing to pitch to him instead of Buxton.
