Similar COF have brought back only A or A+ level prospects the last couple of deadlines, unless part of a bigger trade package.

We can't say the team needs bats then immediately say the team should trade Jeffers and/or Larnach, proven bats help you win now. Carrying 3 C is not ideal, but Shelton seems to be managing it OK. Trading Caratini may be the right move, but then the team is looking for a C next year because neither Jeffers nor Caratini will be here and the prospects in the minors are a couple of years away at the earliest. Detmers and Gore are not going to come cheaply because they still have team control attached to them, neither has a great track record, and I don't feel the team should mortgage the future for "potential", though that is what the future (and the MiLB system) is built on. The team already has potential and team control in Bradley, Rojas, Abel, Matthews, Prielipp and a few others with rising stock in the minors. It remains to be seen how much this group helps down the stretch, but Detmers and Gore are no guarantee to help either, and then the SP logjam begins fresh next spring.

Didn't both teams announce it (unofficially) until HOU owner stepped in and over-rule his GM?

I understand teams "going for it" and trading prospects to win now, the Twins are not going to win now. They may make the play-offs, but advancing out of the WC round would be a nice achievement. 3 of 4 prospects listed are part of the future (4 of 4 before Lackey and Tinney were drafted) and should not be dealt for a "rental" or place holder to try and win a WC series this season.

Listening to Brian Kelly give the Dodgers the Joe Buck treatment is making me ill.....

If the ball had been hit anywhere but where it was, to Lewis's left, its a non-discussion. Lewis is new to 1B and doesn't have the ability (yet?) to fight his instinct (get the out at 1B) and realize the play was to throw to 2B, though to be honest, there was a lot of traffic in front of him - Martin and Rodriguez were both in his line of sight and Martin dropped to the ground kind of late and still directly between Lewis and 2B, or step on 1B and immediately look/throw home. Not making excuses, I was always coached to anticipate the ball coming to you so you knew what/where your play would be

Munson, very comparable numbers to Posey (everybody says he's 1st ballot) in about the same number of seasons, is not in HOF. Based on that neither Perez nor Molina should be in. -
