  1. Can't read the whole article but what I could read was solid. At the end of the day, KOC has to develop him. He's a good coach. JJ seems "football" smart and willing to learn. He's only 22. We should know one way or other by the end of the season.
  2. Apparently Ivan Pace screwed up the coverage on the last kick return. He is third from the top and instead of running his lane, which was the one the runner went to, he cut inside to get there faster. That left the Bears with a lead blocker to knock out Thomas and get the big return. https://www.nfl.com/games/bears-at-vikings-2025-reg-11?active-tab=highlights&tab=recap
  3. Yeah, that was so cringy. ugh
  4. Yep, let him finish the season to see what we have but if he looks like those two, we move on. That's pretty defensible. I think moving on could mean one of two things, which we don't really have to worry about now. 1) draft another QB with our (likely, if he's playing that badly) top 10 pick. 2) bring in a vet to be the starter and let JJ sit and watch and get experience in blowouts and learn the offense. Likely what they would have done in year one behind Darnold. I don't know who that vet would be. In fairness, I don't know what the QBs look like for the upcoming draft, either.
  5. This article talks about how the cap problem for next year isn't really a problem. For all the worry about KAM remember that he was hired because he was a cap guru. https://zonecoverage.com/2025/minnesota-vikings-news/dont-panic-but-the-vikings-are-over-the-salary-cap-for-2026/
  6. On reddit, someone posted the Vikings offensive PFF grades from the Bears loss. McCarthy didn't make the bottom 5, which surprised me. PFF is putting more blame on his receivers than I think is right - I think if it hits the receivers' hands and then incomplete, they rule it a drop, but I'm not sure. But they put 5 drops on the receivers and said McCarthy's adjusted completion percent was 70%. Take that for whatever you think it's worth. I don't love PFF and I think McCarthy should be bottom five. Addison and Hockinson both had some big drops but that happens all the time. Right now, the offense can't keep a drive going if a receiver drops a ball or we have a pre-snap penalty. Good QBs can overcome that. Right now, McCarthy can't. Hopefully he will, and soon. But a positive from PFF is that McCarthy got the ball out fast - his average time to throw was under 2.7 seconds. So that shows (arguably) that he is reading defenses better and making the right reads. Now he just needs to complete the passes.
  7. Because they've seen the importance of cost-controlled QBs and the ability to shape the roster elsewhere. We went all in on Cousins and it didn't work. This lets the team bring in vets.
  8. You've suggested locker room problems before and now this. I have no idea why you think this would happen. KAM and KOC seem to be on the same page on everything. KAM isn't forcing a QB on him that he doesn't want. He's not picking McCarthy b/c he worked with Harbaugh in SF. The team made the pick. I'm sure they all knew there were risks - especially after he missed a season. But you're suggesting a level of disfunction that we haven't seen here until the end of the Zimmer/Spielman regime, with no evidence to support it.
  9. I think this is generally right. McCarthy had some real positives - young, played in a pro-style offense, albeit a run-heavy one, was coached by Harbaugh, passes all the intangible tests. The big criticism on him at the draft was that he didn't have a strong arm. Turns out, that's not true, he has a very strong arm. But he's mostly only throwing one speed - hard. Really hard. I'm always optimistic but for the most part this isn't a Anthony Richardson inaccuracy issue. While he did miss on a few badly, mostly he needs to get touch on his passes. We're also in SSS. He's 22 and it's been 5 games. He hasn't even thrown 200 passes yet.
  10. Darnold's teammates really seem to like him. I think we did the right thing but I'm glad he's doing well, one game excepted. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46995273/seahawks-offer-ardent-defense-sam-darnold-4-ints
  11. Yeah, that's why this was a must win. Realistically, we needed to win today to have a playoff shot. We essentially can only lose one more game to get in. But if we don't make it, I'll root for Darnold over the Rams, Eagles, and Lions everyday of the week.
  12. 90% of this loss is on McCarthy. He just has to play better. Simple as that. We were 3-11 on third down. Minus-2 in the turnover battle. On the plus side, the defense looked good and Redmond was really good - I thought he got held a lot. The o-line didn't give up a sack and the rushing game was strong.
  13. We literally could have. Which is kinda nice, I suppose. What a ****** loss
  14. Defense standing up
  15. Ignoring all this. They need to play JJ to see what we've got. He's the youngest QB in the league, five starts. This season is his to sink or swim.
  16. Jefferson needs to catch that but ugly series
  17. JJ needs to play better. Simple as that.
  18. I hate this game
  19. Or, it's a good team with horrible QB play.
  20. KOC seems to be calling a good game, actually. JJ is just missing throws
  21. Down 10-3 with two turnovers is probably better than we should expect.
