  1. The last guy made a lot of these trades, too.
  2. I think pretty much everyone between 10-16 are interchangeable for us, so he'll fit in there somewhere.
  3. I think it's fair. Watson has some nice potential - still growing into his body. Has some mechanical issues to work out. But has a feel for some non-fastball pitches already. Reminds me of a poor man's Stephen Gonsalves.
  4. Watson is a nice lotto ticket. 6'5" lefty. Only 20. Lots of strike outs but not high velocity.
  5. I liked the Dragonstone stuff for the most part but the Lannister's walking all over Highgarden was not really believable. It was clearly done to make the Lannister's seem to be stronger than than they are so it's not a cake walk for Danny. But at least Olenna Tyrell went out in one last great scene.
  6. I doubt it. Someone will get to 3k again. It goes in waves.
  7. I think Romero finishes this year in the ML bullpen and will be given every chance to start with the ML club next year, like Mejia did this year.
  8. To the basic gist of the thread - AL baseball has been better than NL baseball for quite some time. It's almost certainly the DH, which allows managers to rest regulars on occasion and it forces AL pitchers to face longer, harder line ups where their NL counterparts can walk #8 to get a nearly automatic out. Rob Neyer wrote about this some time ago during the PED era. He noted that 1) suspected PED use was more common in AL teams 2) he suggested that the many pitcher friendly parks in the NL protected pitchers so they threw the more traditional fastball, change, curve whereas smaller AL parks + DH made pitchers adapt so you saw more types of pitches in the AL. Lastly for a long time the top payroll teams resided in the AL so they can buy out the talent. We'll see Bryce Harper in the AL pretty soon and it's unlikely that a guy like Machado is going to leave the AL when he hits FA. Because the DH helps protect the longterm deals, it's easier for AL teams to give a guy like Harper all the money.
  9. Seems like a decent return for Garcia but at the same time, it's unlikely that either of these guys will ever help the big club. Maybe keeping Garcia around for rotation stability should have been considered? But I would guess that this means the Twins won't trade Santana.
  10. He's putting up good numbers in AA and he's only 21 but apparently his stats are ahead of his stuff. He's ranked #22 in the Yankees system in pipeline's recent update.
  11. Technically, Gibson is under control for another year. I agree that the Twins could, maybe even should, trade from their OF supply for a pitcher. But not Buxton.
  12. No. Buxton's bat isn't where we want it to be and I know WAR isn't a great stat but Buxton is more valuable than Grey and has more years of control. And that assumes his bat doesn't improve.
  13. I certainly hope we aren't making trades from a position of weakness. Heyman called the pitching market a "seller's market" and I hope he's right.
  14. Regarding the Astros, it sounds like they aren't willing to move their top prospects.
  15. Red Sox have a surprisingly barren system right now. Obviously, they have enough to get Kintzler but Trey Ball has fallen out of their top 30!
  16. Not sure where to put this but it was on Heyman's twitter timeline
  17. The sticking point in the Grey to Yankees trade is that the A's are demanding Torres or Frasier. I imagine the Yankees are seeing if Santana is significantly cheaper to drive down the A's asking price? Of course, if that was the plan, we'd hear leaks about the Twins/Yankees.
  18. It wasn't that we can't trade for him. It was that he was injured with an era over 5 in A+. I agree that this is a buyers market but if Santana is bringing back a package headlined by Abreau or Acevedo or Tate, it's a bad market for us. Hold on to Santana because we need a few pitchers that can make 30 starts a year.
  19. Assuming this is real, Abreau is on the DL and is their #11 prospect. He's in A+ with an era over 5. Seems similar to Ynoa. Acevedo is #10. He's a big dude who hits triple digits but is probably a reliever. Tate was a 4th overall pick a few years back, is #18 in their system and is 23 in A+. I'm not liking the names.
