  1. Awhile ago, there were a few writers suggesting the Twins move Jhoan Duran to the rotation, and trade for an established closer. With Milwaukee willing to trade Burnes. Maybe Devin Williams would be available for the right price. How about an offer an offer of David Festa or Marco Raya along with Gabriel Gonzalez the player we just received from the Mariners. I don't know if an offer like that would interest the Brewers, but acquiring Williams as a closer and moving Duran to the rotation might be worth the try. If Duran doesn't show well as a starter, you can always move him back to the pen. That would really solidify the bullpen if that happened. Speculation on a lot of things here. But, if you could acquire a pitcher like Williams for what the FO would consider "worth it". It might be worth trying. Williams has a 7M contract for this year and a 10.5M club option with a 250,000 buy out for 2025. So, he really wouldn't affect our budget, too much. And you have him for possibly 2 years.
  2. I just hope the fans treat the team the same way the owners and front office has. Lets stay home and save our money and not go to any games. Would serve the team right and remind them what goes around comes around
  3. The way it sounds from stories all over the internet is Seattle will not trade any of its “controllable” starting pitching unless it’s a massive overpay and plan on signing FA’s to supply “bats” on their roster. So good luck trying to deal with them.
  4. I’m sure what the Twins FO thinks about any of the players and contract situations listed here is totally different than a lot of us fans take. It’s fun to state opinions and see everyone else’s Come opening day We will cheer for the team put on the field and have to accept the FO decisions GOOD or BAD Then it would have to Wallner and Julien offered. It’ll take a massive offer for Luzardo and Jeffers is what the Marlins REALLY need. I agree though that the Twins would be very hesitant to trade Jeffers.
  5. Young pitchers mature as time goes by and I think Ryan and Ober should be given that opportunity in MN. It was more López maturing as a P, by learning a new pitch. But still I think Ryan, especially has number 2 starter written all over him as he matures as a P
  6. If Miami trades Luzardo the names Lewis, Lee, and Jeffers are gonna be brought up. Not Kepler or Vázquez. They won’t even consider taking on any unnecessary salary
  7. The thing is Ryan and Ober are controlled for 4 more years and the Twins really should know what they have in them They maybe could take a monumental step forward in the next year or 2, like Pablo Lopez did in 2023. So trading either one is a crapshoot on getting something even equal to them
  8. Then it would have to Wallner and Julien offered. It’ll take a massive offer for Luzardo and Jeffers is what the Marlins REALLY need. I agree though that the Twins would be very hesitant to trade Jeffers.
  9. It might take Jeffers and Julien for the Marlins to maybe consider. They need a C bad and Julien would be a fit also Is this to much to give up for Luzardo?
  10. I know with the TV issue and the revenue stream from it, up in the air. The Twins will probably want to lower the payroll But, with Pablo Lopez going from 8.25M in 2024 to 21.75M in 2025. And, with Royce Lewis, Joe Ryan, Jhoan Duran, Bailey Ober, Griffin Jax, Trevor Larnach, and more ALL becoming Arbitration eligible in 2025. It maybe makes more sense to spend a little more on payroll in 2024. We have a defending Division champion, and the other teams in our division are NOT that strong. So why not try to build a team that can compete for a WS, when we STILL have some cost controllable players. By letting 2024 go, by lowering payroll and not adding to a fairly good team, we lose a great opportunity to build our team to COMPETE for a WS. Plus, the young players on our roster, if they keep succeeding, is going to run that payroll up fast in the coming years. So lets go for it this year, by adding some quality to our roster. Which means we probably have to stay at last years payroll level or even add a little to it.
  11. How about offering Larnach and P Headrick for Edward Cabrera. You could substitute Miranda, Kiriloff, or even Wallner in some kind of offer for Cabrera. Cabrera has a lot of upside and is controlled for 5 more seasons. The Marlins maybe value him quite high, but their losing Soler and might be looking to add some hitting.
  12. Twins are a 72-90 team. Not much going for them. Terrible bullpen will sink any team and the offense is very weak. We won’t lose any playoff games this season. Cause we won’t be playing any.
  13. Complete SLOP. Get some attention to detail. It looked like amateur baseball on opening day.The Twins are a 70-92 baseball team. Gonna be a long season. Well, at least we won’t lose a playoff game this year.
  14. 244 big league AB's and 106 K's. A 44% strikeout rate, just what we need. I guess we need someone who strikes out alot, so Sano and Buxton don't feel so bad when they strike out. Sano strikes out 42% of the time and Buxton 35% of the time in their big league AB's.
  15. Odorizzi will be long gone from the Twins before Palacios ever plays a major league game. That's if he ever does. So the Twins win the trade until the day Palacios, MAKES the majors. Knowing the Twins luck. he will be the next coming of D Jeter and all our other SS prospects will flop.
  16. Trade Plouffe for Will Smith and then trade whatever minor leaguers it takes to get Ken Giles. That would give you a REAL bullpen, with RHP (Giles, Jepsen, and May) and LHP (Perkins and Smith). Transactions like this, would actually help the payroll. Probably, very impossible trades to make. But, one can dream. Smith, with 2 years of arb. Giles has 5 years of team control. One of the 2 would really help the team.
  17. If he hits .250 with 15-20 HR's he's worth 3M a year. A risk worth taking. It gives them some additional money to spend elsewhere.
  18. I would try to fortify the bullpen by acquiring 1 arb-prearb reliever through trade (Will Smith or Ken Giles). Then I would sign a Ryan Madson, Tony Sipp, Matt Thornton, Tyler Clippard, or Joakim Soria in FA. I would try to get one righty and one lefty. This would really stabilize a pen with Perkins, Jepsen and May already in it and let you bring up the young guns and start them out in low leverage situations throughout the season. Plus, you aren't breaking the bank by only signing 1 FA.
  19. You are getting rid of Suzuki's contract ( LuCroy's is less for 2 years) You are getting a cost controlled LHRP (probably the best available in the whole league). LuCroy and Murphy would be a very effective tandem behind the plate and you wouldn't have to wear either one out. A trade like this actually helps the payroll numbers (8M for Plouffe, 6M for Suzuki, and 5-6 M for Milone). I know giving up Kepler is a risky gamble. and you might have to acquire another "good defensive OF" if you made a trade like this.
  20. Trade Plouffe, Milone, Suzuki, and Max Kepler to the Brewers for LuCroy and LHP Will Smith. Then sign a Ryan Madson, Joakim Soria, Darren O'Day type RHP for the bullpen. This sets the team up pretty well for the present, while only making 1 trade and 1 FA signing. I guess we have to sign Park (yet) and I don't know if the trade proposed here is a feasible enough trade for both (either) side.
  21. With the Winter Meetings looming and the Twins having already made some impressive moves, one player who intrigues me is Danny Espinosa of the Nats. A 2b/ss who has kinda fell out of favor in the Nats organization. The Twins could use some help in the MI and Espinosa might be had for a minimal price. He strikes out to much and has a low BA. But he has 4 years of team control, is a switch-hitter, has really good pop, and a pretty good defensive player at both 2b/ss. He was a highly touted prospect and maybe hasn't fulfilled his potential yet. With the Nats trading Lombardozzi it maybe changes how they feel about Espinosa. But Espinosa is the type of player the Twins should look at to help their MI and can maybe be had for a very resonable price. Plus four years of team control. A very reasonable gamble on a player who might break-out and be a useful player. He hasn't played much ss in the majors because of Desmond, but he would be good competition for Florimon at ss and would give us some depth there. f
  22. A perfect roster solution for the Twins, but there is no way they could or would have taken on that much payroll. One of the pitchers maybe, but not all of that payroll.
