  1. winnah. ho-hum. all this winning is getting boring.
  2. I predict a Chitown post in 3, 2, 1...
  3. A little something to put in your will?
  4. That's just a foul ball in Oakland
  5. In all seriousness, McDonald's ice cream is quite good, IMO.
  6. If Oakland doesn't score this series, I can see us taking 2 of 3.
  7. This Zobrist guy reminds me of Ben Zobrith. Used to play for the Rays.
  8. That's just a foul ball in Oakland.
  9. 7 shutout innings? pfft...what's his xFIP?
  10. Thanks. Thank you very much. I'll be here all week. Try the chicken, and don't forget to take good care of your waitstaff.
  11. Got kids? A spouse? Works for beer, too. Usually.
  12. Y'know what goes really good on ice cream? More ice cream.
  13. So a Chief walks into a bar. Nobody there but the bartender. Row of stools at the bar, empty tables, bowls of nuts every few feet on the bar, TV on in the corner. I The Chief orders up a beer, the barkeep brings it to him, and after a rather lackluster round of small talk, the bartender wanders off to the other end of the bar, where he goes back to watching a rerun of "The Green Mile." The Chief sits there, quietly sipping his beer, when he hears "Nice shirt, Chief." It seems to come from nowhere. He looks down at the bartender, who is 15 feet away and uninterested. The words clearly didn't come from him. "Maybe I imagined it," thinks the Chief. Not a minute later, there it is again..."Have you lost weight?" Chief looks around...still nobody. He calls over the bartender and asks him about it..."Is there somebody behind the bar?" The bartender hears the story, says "No...nobody back here but me." He thinks a bit, and I the Chief cacn almost see the lighbulb go on over the bartender's head. "Oh," he says. "That must be the peanuts. They're complimentary."
  14. Nice of Plouffe-see to wait till after Halsey's bedtime to hit the grand slam. Would've ruined Halsey's night.
  15. Conversely, that WAS a hell of a PA by Sano.
  16. Yeah, McCann is certainly killing the Yankees. Good players cost money, and they don't often drop off a cliff just because they turn 30 years old. Or, just roll with Suzuki and something lesser I guess.
  17. I've been told the playoffs are a crapshoot. Get there. To start with, catcher is a need, and will almost surely be a need in the future. Why wait? They need better arms in the bullpen. Why wait? I actually like Santana's future, but I wouldn't object to a surer thing at SS, and going forward they need better play from SS. That might be worth a gamble. A starter like Hamels wouldn't be just for 2015. Lucroy would help now and the near term future, possibly more with an extension. Fortune favors the bold. Sitting around waiting for the future doesn't appeal to me, and I don't think it's the smart way to play the MLB game. YMMV, or course.
  18. The goal is to get to the postseason. Putting off helping a team that is in contention for the postseason, on the hope (and that's all it is) that you MIGHT be a postseason contender at some point in the future, makes no sense to me. In real life, saving for the future often makes sense. In pro sports, it's folly.
  19. Here's a couple places to start: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/about_mlb/rules_regulations.jsp https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Baseball_rosters https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Baseball_transactions http://www.brewcrewball.com/2009/1/4/703125/the-40-man-roster-how-does
