  1. I have watched a lot of baseball, and I question the need for a "rehab" assignment for a position player. I understand it's been pretty much SOP forever, but what is gained? 15 ABs in ST Paul doesn't "prepare" Buxton for anything. I can understand a starting pitcher who needs a few starts to "stretch out," but a position player? Those 15 ABs might as well be in MPLS. They make zero difference in getting a player "ready."
  2. An outfield of Refsnyder, Gordon and Cave doesn't excite you about the future of the Twins??!?
  3. I like a nice, warm and fuzzy human interest story once In a while. Just not as part of a plan to build a championship baseball team.
  4. Gordon wasn't even playing SS in St Paul. Tonight he subbed in, and they moved Polanco over to SS, Gordon to 2b. Gordon at SS is a ship that sailed, except in an emergency.
  5. Were you to ask me if I prefer an 11-10 win or a 1-0 win, well...I'd have to say, "yes.'
  6. They've also subtracted the best hitter from the offense in Cruz.
  7. I did. Unfortunately that old ***** from 2C jumped out of her walker with a "BINGO!!!" one call before. I hate her.
  8. No reason? They have one major league starter on the roster. One. They're going to need a lot more than "better health and some good breaks." I don't see it. Hope to be wrong.
  9. Is there a path to contention in 2022?
  10. I would have a much easier time chalking up 2021 as some bad luck if I could look optimistically at 2022. But from where I sit--and I realize there's an entire offseason to change the roster--it's very hard to imagine this team anywhere close to even .500 next year. They're short 4 starters, half a dozen relievers, and a SS at minimum. I'd say there's a reasonable chance they're WORSE next year rather than better. They said their goal is to compete every year. Hard to see them giving themselves a passing grade on that goal, so I don't know how I can.
  11. "Throw enough **** against the wall and some is bound to stick" doesn't sound like a solid method of pitching staff construction to you??
  12. This is all you need to know about the talent difference between these two clubs: up 11-1, the Sox can send out a LHer throwing 97 for mop up duty.
  13. Right away in the bottom of the first the Astros put a threat together with some bloop base hits and shoddy Twins defense, but Maeda struckout Yordan Alvarez and Carlos Correa to end the inning and limit the damage. Nitpick: Maeda didn't K Alvarez and Correa. The 'stros had one in, two on with none out when Maeda got Alvarez to hit into a DP. He then K'd Correa. Like I said, nitpick, but it is the game writeup. If nothing else, rest assured someone actually reads these.
  14. At the point Donaldson is keeping someone better off the roster...which is pretty far fetched IMO ... DFA him. Costs only money.
  15. Don't be ridiculous. Hrbek didn't pull him off first, Gant leg whipped poor Kent mercilessly
  16. That's pretty conveniently leaving out the part about Falvine giving Happ cash and a guaranteed spot in a supposedly contending team's rotation in the first place. Not to mention he got nothing of any actual value back. I AM happy I don't ever have to watch Happ take the mound in a Twins uniform again, so there's that.
  17. I think it's really cool when people grow their own vegetables in a garden.
  18. All of which misses the point. This is worse than the NBA. It's not healthy for any league for 1 or 2 teams to always game the system and get whatever players they want.
  19. MLB is in a a bad place when the LA Dodgers can add Max Scherzer and Trea Turner. This is awful. Ridiculous
