  1. In Fire Fox. It's definitely version 36. 0. Unless this comes out normal. LOL
  2. Oh, my. Over eating? Give him a strict diet? OR, do we all have a really short memory? Sano had Tommy John surgery on his right shoulder. Recovery time needs to include a period where he can not workout. That's why he weights whatever he weights right now. That's also the reason why he will not be in the majors this year unless he makes enormous strides in conditioning and performance and gets a call-up when rosters are expanded at the end of the year.
  3. I haven't read it yet, but THANKS for the article. I'm still trying to wrap my head around Sabermetrics.
  4. Dozier has progressed some over the past 3 seasons but looking at his BA and K's, I'm wondering how much more can we expect? I'd [quietly] put him on the trading block to see what other teams think of him. If there's a team out there that likes him, I'd trade and give Polanco and others a shot at the job. Terry Ryan seems stuck in a pattern of constantly trying to patch the pitching staff with long-ish contracts for mediocre pitchers and extending players to the end of their playing days. And, yes, I would have traded both Hrbek and Puckett at their peak.
  5. Would be nice to see an add-on to this article on how the prospects in camp are doing so far. Example: How is Sano's arm? Has the scar tissue "broken" yet?
  6. Question on Sano: How's his arm? I've watched a video of his 1st cage session after surgery. Doesn't tell me much. The reports from Spring Training say he's hitting bombs during hitting practice. What's his throwing like? Has the scar tissue broken yet? BACK TO THE SUBJECT :-) I am hopeful for several of the young hitters, mostly because of Brunansky. He seems to have their ears. I'm sort of hopeful for Plouffe. He might just be a late bloomer. And like many, I think this may be a breakthrough year for Arcia. Doubling walks from last year, which could increase his doubles, would really round his offense out. Defense? You've already read my opinions on that....
  7. I was taking the quotes from the Judd Zulag and reading past the drama. By his own admission, Hicks is the person who made the decision to stop switch hitting, without considering the consequences i.e. he hadn't hit righthanded against righthanded pitchers in a long time. After the failed experiment in the minors, he announces he's switch hitting again. I call that bad behavior. Do we know there was a lack of coaching or managing? Gardenhire seemed like he already had one foot out the door. Did Brunansky not do anything to help Hicks? I can't say for sure either. But is does sound like Hicks has taken some responsibility for his career: he's worked to get in better shape and has seemed to have a plan for AB's.
  8. I'm not buying the "do something to help the team win," thing, the "considers it the scariest moment of his life" thing nor am I buying the concept that it was HIS idea to walk into the Managers office and declare he was done switch hitting. I'm smelling a parental-unit behind this. Declaring Hicks as competing for a MLB spot seems like rewarding him for bad behavior. His minor league stats weren't even all that great. AA ball seems to be the best place for him. I'm thinking the veteran AAA breaking ball pitcher will only mess with him.
  9. From the Star Tribune this morning: In Hammond Stadium, Joe Mauer took his first batting practice in a ballpark this year, dropping two perfect bunts before lining a single to left off bullpen coach Eddie Guaradado. 2 bunts and a slap to left field? That ain't no way to get the juices flowing
  10. THANK YOU! Someone's finally on my side
  11. I still think $10m is too much. My recollection it was the Twins vs. Rangers for his services. But the way I'm looking at it now, who else is there to play in the OF? They were running INF's out there last year.
  12. Hey Seth, I took a really quick glance at the AAA OF's. Ages: 25, 29, 29 and 30. What do you think? Maybe a good training spot? Get him used to some breaking ball?
  13. For those asking about Lyman Bostock: He was an amazing player! I absolutely loved to watch him play. I like what I'm hearing about Rosario, but they're still questions: like it takes a couple times getting caught taking drugs, performance enhancing or not, to get suspended for 50 games. Here's wishing Rosario the best and good health.
  14. I was there on the day that Baron von Raschke was in the stands!! He was a GREAT character in person. Here's another one for you: I don't know if it's still there, but there was a small passenger train that ran around the Minneapolis lakes. James Donald Raschke was the conductor.
  15. Arcia higher in the lineup. Interesting!
  16. "Moncada will likely require at least one season in the minors — possibly two." I'm curious. For what? That's a lot of money for a player that not ready right now.
  17. At 5'11" you don't have much body to soak up the wear and tear that throwing that hard has on a body. JR has had some shoulder issues in the past. But he was being used as a started by the Braves. I hope he makes it!
  18. Seth, I have a question about ranking systems in general. I'm not criticizing anyone, I've just been curious about this. How can a player or players [buxton and Sano] still be ranked high when they've missed a large part or all of the previous system? Aren't rankings based on the progress or decline of a player year to year? To me its strange to say the Buxton is still the #1 MiLB prospect when he missed time due to injuries and Sano is #whatever, when he missed the entire year.
  19. Reading the seattle.pi website, he was already caught doing PED's and the ice cream thing is what has motivated him to loss the weight.
  20. Sort of a Lyman Bostock vs. Tony Oliva type question. Although Tony never hit 10 triples, but a ton of doubles. I'm good with either :-)
  21. Oops, guessed I missed it. TWINS BITE-SIZE HISTORY lol
  22. Many thanks! Any article on Killebrew is tops on my list. One more favor: can you create a title for all of your articles? Like "Twins history into fun-sized chunks - Part 1" ?
  23. I can't access Part 1. Error message says: Sorry, you don't have permission for that!
