  1. So, put one together. Not being snarky here, but I haven't really noticed and issue with balls hit to his right. Actually, probably a lack of attention on my part. I don't think there a whole lot [re: very, very little] people here who would consider Plouffe more than MLB average in the field.
  2. I guess it depends one your criteria for "Best Hitter". BA, OPS+: Nunez, still. Somehow OBP, BB: Mauer SLG, OPS: Park, SLG by a lot But that's not really what you're talking about. It's about lineup structure. That's why a guy like Nunez [with a .371 BA, .420 OBP and a whopping 3 BB's ] hit leadoff for a long time and Mauer [with reasonable .316 BA and team leading .445 OBP] is hitting 2nd/3rd. I think we're talking about getting Park an extra AB per game, just like we did with Sano. Based on OPS+ [2nd behind Nunez] yeah, I like Park #3 in the lineup, behind Nunez [Danny Santana looks pretty gassed, to me] and Mauer. Packing high OBP together.
  3. The die is cast, the ship has sailed, etc, etc..... May is not a starter. He's no a permanent fixture in the bullpen, hopefully as the closer. Soon. I'd like to see more of the Tonkin from earlier this year. The one that exploded off the mound, not the one that kinda saunters of the mound like a whipped puppy. Abad has been successful, but with the slop he throws, I think more than a little bit of luck is at play. I like O'Rourke far better for the future and Pressly over Jepsen any day of the week.
  4. In last nights game, the death knell for Alex Meyer was when Neil Allen went to the mound. What were the next 2 pitches? Breaking balls low and very away. What are Meyer's worst pitches? Yeah, breaking balls. Game over. If I'm in the Twins organization, I'd be asking myself a simple question: What type of pitcher is Alex Meyer? Similar to a Brad Radke - type or Randy Johnson - type? Pretty easy answer. Early in his career, I have little doubt the Expos tried the same thing with Johnson. He gets traded to Seattle and becomes a largely fastball 1st pitcher with a nice little button-hook type slider. Success. Let Alex Meyer be Alex Meyer: a power pitchering starter that only shows a breaking ball to keep hitters off balance a little. His long, lanky build makes him a Terrible choice for the bullpen. And the real thing is: the Twins, historically, will not allow this to happen. It's the Twins Way. Release Alex Meyer and let him go to a team that will allow him to develop as a power pitching starter.
  5. damnit, stop calling for breaking balls
  6. .....can't....see......lineup....cards....through....fog......
  7. Looks like Twins need to clear a 2nd spot in the rotation!

  9. whew, good thing there's only 8 innings left.....
  10. not sure, but I think it was that breaking ball he just threw.
  11. Twins are in McHugh's head already. Likee....
  12. No Freaking Way! Go DANSAN ! and here I was just thinking Santana coulda used a day off
  13. Plouffe is in the lineup. OK, who's the schmuck that didn't send me the memo?
  14. FYI: I use Sling and Fox Sports North is included for free. Well, part of the Sling package
  15. I can't wait to see Meyer. He looked like crap in spring training, but turned it around in AAA. Here's hoping tonight's catcher doesn't leave him hanging like they did with Berrios. When a rookie pitcher runs into trouble, the catcher is the one that should calm him down.
  16. was really surprised the Bosox signed him. Horrible contract for a guy that's horribly out of shape??
  17. I'll say this: the poor kid was over-hyped. Buxton has had some pretty messed up mechanics and being physically gifted, he can put up stats like his 2013 season. But that was A - Ball. His mechanics are much better, but the pattern hasn't change: Strike 1, strike 2 and everything else is down and way until you get Buxton to bite.
  18. What's next for Buxton? He needs developmental reps. If it's anything less than finishing out the season in Rochester, I don't know if there actually is a plan.
  19. Umm, yeah. That had nothing to do with it.
  20. a white-knuckle finish with a 4 run lead. ah, such are our hometown boys....
  21. any chance we can bring Pressly back in?
