  1. Now is not the time to make trades. Or, should I say, waste your time trying to make one. Sell high, not low. As the year goes on, more player will come up hurt. Remember this? http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24655128/twins-trade-kevin-correia-to-dodgers-for-player-to-be-named Wait for other teams to have roster needs. Quoting Platoon: Personally I think the trading criteria should be "how can I straighten out our own roster, and our 40 man" not what can I get in return. You can literally get something for everyone. If it's an A-baller and a AA, in many cases on the Twins roster, that would be a great success. In many others, a "Correa-like" trade for cash would still clear a spot.
  2. I'm not big on compare teams year to year and especially not to other teams. What disappoints me the most is the change from what these players were doing in Spring Training and what there are doing now. This from the Strib article on Brunansky: "This is not the offense Brunansky expected to see coming out of spring training, and he is constantly searching for ways to reprogram hitters who have gotten away from what they do well." This one tells it al for me: "A whopping 33 of their 44 homers have been solo shots." Blame Bruno all you want, but this is on the players. Only I know right now it Brian Dozier it the appointed "clubhouse leader". Yeah, he sure is leading........
  3. I read this article yesterday and pondered for awhile. The MiLB numbers are fantastic, no question. But nothing in this article makes feel good about Buxton being ready for the MLB anytime soon. I don't really know how the MLB staff was handling Buxton, but after a 2nd attempt and an opportunity to play a lot more in the MLB [Aaron Hicks removal from the competition], you'd think the pressure would be significantly reduced. As my dad would have told me: You have a young family to support. Grow a pair. or something like that.....
  4. Thanks for the info. BTW: isn't the Competitive Balance Lottery also known as the Sad Sack Lottery??
  5. Title: Still waiting for Buxton to be healthy for a full season. [ just because I got long winded :-) ] Not buying the "struggle for a month or so at a level" narrative because he has 187 PA's and a .195 BA and .555 OPS, among other unattractive things, in 63 MLB games. Buxton was given a chance in 2015 and failed. If I remember correctly, another set of injuries were a factor. Hicks was moved, so CF was cleared for him. Clearly over matched, again. Really, really don't understand the constant attempts to compare Buxton to Trout. Just now reading this: "What I would do for sure is time it so his first three games are against the 3, 4, and 5 guys, preferably on a weak team." Seriously? If the players name was anything other than Byron Buxton, would you promote this player? Having said that, Buxton's numbers are pretty incredible right now. And I'm not slicing and dicing stats. Full season. But still, he was just injured [back spasms] again. I'd rather he finish out the season healthy and bring him up for a good look when rosters expand.
  6. Thanks Seth. Question: Can same-day trades of draft picks be made? I see a player who was drafted can be traded in the same year, after the World Series is over. Don't understand that at all. It seems like we have a lot of 'swing for the fences' types right now. Twins don't need guys like Walker or Palka, We need a bunch of OBP and OPS (+) guys. Buxton is healthy again, after being injured, yet again. His overall AAA stats look really great: 394 OBP, 970 OPS. I've always been concerned with his lack of walks, but those numbers are tough to dispute. Replication at the MLB level, is. Hoping for the best! Rosario: I was in the group that thought he had learned from last year. Obviously not. Arcia: I applaud him for getting in great shape. I also wag my finger at him and ask: why didn't you do this before? I pass on Arcia next year. Santana still has value and is just being played to much right now because of need.
  7. THANK YOU! Goodness, gracious, gravy me. How short a memory some may be. Oh god, I'm channeling my grandmother.......

  14. Is it just me or does Allen only go to the mound AFTER the damage is done?
  15. 2 runs in just like that. then Duffey drops the ball for a balk.
