  1. We were so small, it wouldn't have been much more than a fart in the wind....
  2. I loved the job, but if you're not hooked into the voice over/commercial group, the pay is pretty poor. Pretty much everything is automation now. I miss John "Records" Landecker, Dr. Demento and The True Don Blue....
  3. Way back in the day, I was a weekend announcer at a small radio station in WI. It was both AM and FM. Except after the sun went down. By law, we had to shutdown the AM portion because WCCO AM went to full power. Our little station would have caused static in WCCO AM's signal
  4. hmm, everyone AWOL? Nevermind. Slow screen refresh
  5. 1st, I never said Sano was a mess in RF. 2nd , are we talking about the same Sano? Miguel Sano has looked pretty good recently. He's past the initial hesitations and is moving around much better. Room for improvement? Of course.
  6. Things got kinda messy when the Twins informed Sano that he'd be playing Right Field and it appeared like lack of communication, no communication on what Sano was supposed to do to prepare for it. It was a weird 'he said, she said' mess. Nobody took real responsibility. Sano is a big kid. I have my doubts about him actually weighting 280lbs. But he was definitely carrying a budda belly. Look at him now. Damn near svelte.
  7. Does Andy McPhail have any children ??
  8. I was going to say something like, "hindsight" and "time to let it go". Then I looked at his 2000-2002 stats: .265 BA, 48 HR, 186 RBI A ballerina at 1st? Er, no. Neither is Sano in RF Different era.
  9. "Regardless of his offensive contributions, he bring an immediate upgrade defensively to the Twins lineup, as his play and range in center field was solid even during his offensive struggles. " No. Cheap excuse for his lack of hitting in the MLB. D. Santana may have some issues defensively, but not completely horrible. A .260 BA is palatable for a guy predicted to be in the "super-sub" catagory. Issues: MiLB numbers, Fantastic! SSS, 29 Games, 116 AB's. Buxton's perchance for injuries is a big issue. ++AB's in the MiLB are needed to determine if he will be durable enough for the Twins needs. I also believe it's a "comfort thing" for Buxton: a "self inflicted pressure" thing. A recent article on the MiLB.com drew some attention to this. I'm actually surprised they haven't been searching for another Grossman/Mastroianni-type to fill in. Left out 4. I really, really hope I'm wrong and Buxton stays healthy and he's learned his lessons in MiLB and translates it to MLB success!!
  10. I think people are over-estimating the whole leg-kick thing. It isn't much more than a timing mechanism. The light-switch for Puckett turned on when he started using one. Maybe it's changing Buxton's perchance to lunge at low and away pitches? And, of course, this doesn't work for everyone. Sano has a big ( HUGE ) upper cut and has had a horrible start. After he worked with Bruno and Hernandez, the change made was the opposite of the leg-kick: They worked to quiet down his movement in the batters box and, well he's on a tear. Dozier: looks like a brain transplant is necessary. With leg-kick
  11. If Buxton hits, it's all a non-issue, correct? Between the injuries and non-hitting, I don't fault management a lot.
  12. Actually Jeremy, I don't follow the MLB Draft that much. Generally speaking, there isn't much instant gratification for me It sounds pretty much like I thought: a draft setup to help poorer teams build, but exclusions that benefit teams with more money. I read further that this doesn't happen a lot and some weird thing where teams that take advantage of this need to draft more in lower rounds? Thanks, Jeremy
  13. "Teams with big pools will cut deals with prep pitchers to drop to their second pick." Can someone explain this to me? Sounds a little fishy..
  14. So, Spring Training is now over In a Strib article, Sano has been working with Bruno and Rudy Hernandez every morning on his swing. Pretty good results http://www.startribune.com/twins-notes-sano-adjusts-gets-powerful-results/381265921/#1
  15. party pooper.... https://youtu.be/bQ_LHyx2odc
  16. there's nothing funny about it. looks like the Twins could actually make it 4 in row! was that the right answer? what do i get?
  17. Pulling Walker out. Twins knock out another tough pitcher. What's going on here??
