  1. If it's in the course of a normal batting stance, yes...and if you get hit higher on your body, it could lead to a strike called against you (I had to make that call in my high school season this year). But if you're bunting and your stance carried you outside the batter's box, you're not leaning into the pitch...you're just setting yourself up for trouble if you make contact with the bat.
  2. When it comes to getting hit by a pitch, it doesn't matter where you're standing, just as long as you're not leaning in to the pitch or making an effort to try to get hit. Had Young made contact with the bat with a foot on the plate, it would have been dead ball and he'd have been called out. Had he not pulled the bat back in time, it would have been a strike despite the fact he got hit by the pitch.
  3. Welp, hockey went crappy so hopefully the Twins can save my night. (Don't hear that said too many times)
  4. Sano owning Pujols down there at 3rd base tonite.
  5. *checks toilet paper* *sees it's still white* Yep, clean inning.
  6. Apologies if it has already been brought up but has anyone petitioned MLB to move all Twins 'home' games to Madison or Milwaukee?
  7. Well look at that, a manager who uses his bullpen as badly as Molly does. GET KINTZLER WARMING UP!!
  8. I swear to Kirby, if this challenge overturns that call, I'm going to fly to Anaheim and rip Polanco myself.
  9. Taylor Rogers...the gift that keeps on giving...for the other team.
  10. Probably wouldn't have meant much but I gotta wonder if scouts got Grossman the info that Revere has one of the worst arms in high school baseball. Chances of little Benny throwing him out at 2nd on that fly to left were pretty minimal.
  11. He only takes with 2 strikes.
  12. When our batters go to the mall, they don't ever buy anything, right?
  13. I would be perfectly fine if I didn't see Ryan Pressly in a Twins uniform after today.
  14. I guess there was a reason Rucinski was sat down in the pen.
  15. Spot-on observation. I was listening to the game in the car when I went to grab some food during a work break and thought, 'ok, get Erv thru the 7th and then let Rucinski and Wheeler handle the business the rest of the way and we'll be fine.' The pen got obliterated yesterday and it was important to get everyone a rest, especially when your offense explodes and your starter gets you 7. Very messy.
  16. How's it possible for it to take 2/3 of an inning in a 6-run game to give your ace a ND. Fire everyone in that bullpen.
  17. Anybody in this bullpen wanna get a stop?
  18. Nobody said anything about scoring EXACTLY one run in that situation. You have 2nd and 3rd, 1 out...2 guys in scoring position. A single that isn't sharply hit wins the game. We got EXACTLY what we wanted out of Grossman, he just hit it too damn hard and couldn't get Adrianza in. Now you have the winning run at 3rd base with 1 out and simple contact probably wins the game (minus a popup, which the Twins are very capable of hitting). Hell, you can even get a wild pitch and the game's over. But if Rosario hits into a DP there or even worse, gets an unproductive out, then maybe you don't even tie the game, let alone have a decent chance of winning it. But that's fine, think how you want. If you want to let analytics and Moneyball run your baseball thinking, so be it.
  19. And you can take all of that analytics crap and throw it in the trash somewhere.
  20. I'll still take 2 guys in scoring position with 1 out in a walkoff inning. Good teams get BOTH guys home. Even below-average teams get 1 of them in to tie.
  21. Maybe so...but I'd rather have 2nd and 3rd with 1 out than Rosario hit into a DP and have 2 out with a runner on 3rd.
  22. Given the way this team hits, the bunt was the right play to get both guys in scoring position. If anyone could freakin execute with 1 out and a runner on 3rd, we're not here right now. Hell, if Grossman's hit is a 30-hopper instead of a sharp single, we're not here right now either.
  23. Santiago with another unfortunate pitch like Friday night.
