  1. Maybe they sign Donaldson, use an in-house option at first and skip trying to figure out what to do with Sano next year when he only has one year left. He's a great hitter but is defensively limited and they need spots for their young hitters coming up. If they get any prospects it could partially offset any that you trade for a starting pitcher upgrade.
  2. Sorry if this is covered somewhere else. I'm not a Sano hater, but is there any chance they could trade him to Texas? Texas lost out on Rendon, and have an obvious need at third and they seem ready to start going all in in with the new ballpark, is there any chance the Twin's sell somewhat high on Sano after he finished strong last year? He's only got two years left of arbitration and they could use a defensive upgrade on the left side, this would also leave first base open for a cheaper option. Just wondering if they could get anything interesting pieces to go with the next wave of young guys. I'm not someone who feels they have to move Sano but I feel like Texas might be motivated to make a splash, and they do not seem to be afraid of taking on some risk.
  3. Lynn signed with Texas as a free agent so his performance this year has no impact on the value of the trade.
  4. Looks like he is pretty hard to double up.
  5. I'm lazy today so I'm not going to find the article to support this, but haven't teams that have one player accounting for 20% or more of the payroll struggled to make the playoffs, and never won a World Series? Manny at 8/250 would mean the payroll would have to jump to over $150m before he would be less than that threshold. You can't buy a good team in the long run, and giving that high of a percent of your payroll to one player is asking for trouble. Injuries happen, he has ben called out for not giving it everything, why risk it? We had a catcher that was on a HOF path and people could deal with it when it didn't turn out, I really don't want to deal with all the bitching again in 4-5 years.
  6. If the Twins don't keep him around I may just find another team.
  7. I'm not a fan of spending big on free agents(not that i should care it's not my money), I just look around the league and see subpar player blocking up roster spots due to the size of their contract. I think Twins' fans are lucky that Mauer provides the value he does, not what you signed him for but better then Pujols. I think this is the year to sign a premier free agent pitcher, you have some contracts coming off the books soon and, if your lucky you trade away an extra pitcher at the deadline if the younger arms are forcing their way onto the roster.
  8. One thing to remember with Kepler is he just has a lot less baseball experience than probably any professional his same age as he did not face the same amount or level of competition growing up in Germany. I would guess he is getting by more due to athleticism and his baseball instincts will continue to improve with more experience. I also think he is the one that you could put off signing to an extension for another year, unless he signs a more team friendly deal or they feel he is a good bet to continue to develop.
  9. At this point if you don't think Rosario is valuable why do you think anybody else would see more value in him than you do, or you think everyone else is an idiot.
  10. This should free Gimenez to do some more relief work.
  11. Good point, I must be a little slow today can't play both positions at the same time xD. Good point on receivers too.
  12. Would be nice if Garver could supply the other half of the platoon with Mauer.
  13. Gimenez, he's their most reliable strike thrower.
  14. There was an article in the City Pages a couple weeks ago about Breslow and it sounded like he might be interested in remaining in baseball in some capacity other than as a player. www.citypages.com/news/meet-craig-breslow...smartest-man-in-baseball/432334883
  15. I guess I was mostly stating he is the one Molitor has used and most likely will continue to choose to use, so I guess I'm satisfied so far with what he's doing with the opportunities.
  16. Best closer with the most saves on the Twins' 25 man roster, and they sure as hell shouldn't trade for another one during the season. I also doubt they could talk Molitor into using someone else within the current system.
  17. Not sure where to bring this up but... Chih-Wei Hu's fastball in limited MLB appearances was an average of 93 mph, why am I thinking on of the knocks on him when traded for Jepsen was his fastball velocity was below average?
  18. Will we see Granite join the Twins this year as a 4th outfielder so we can keep Grossman out of the outfield?
  19. St. Louis doesn't have a first round pick and lost 2 picks for the Astros hack.
  20. So can a team take a low ranked college senior in the first round sign them cheap and use the money to sign all the sliders.
  21. Shortstops are usually valuable trade bait.
  22. Even better would be a pitcher that could catch and catcher that could be a LOOGY.
  23. They can try to flip Suzuki for some long shot prospect but who is going to catch Meyer/May if they get called up. I would imagine their current top pitching prospects would benefit more from a reliable backstop that can keep the ball in front of them and call a good game than any value they receive in some unknown future commodity.
