    They need to recognize defense is a real problem with this group. Up the middle Buxton is the only capable fielder. They won’t be competitive until they can catch and throw the ball no matter what their pitching staff does.

    What makes the Twins think we want to watch hitters who strike out 29 times in 2 games? Absolutely tortuous baseball that turns any fan off to another entertainment option. The hitting coach should either be sacrificed at a stake of bats or sent back to remedial hitting 101. I simply can’t watch a game like that. Definitely won’t be paying to go see one.

    Seems pretty clear he is a future full-time or platoon DH. Lee at 2nd, Julien at 1st, Kiriloff in LF and Severino or Miranda at DH could be a long-term plan. Seems like the competition among prospects will be between Severino and Miranda.

    The lack of humility is striking. Perhaps leave a little space for the possibility that Miller is in fact a no-hit, great glove player that will never make it to the majors as a regular. Or that he’ll be blocked anyway by some better prospect. Andújar had it right. Enjoy the ride, we only get to go this way once

    I wonder if they considered switching his role with Varland's from last year. Keep him in the bullpen and let his arm get re-acquainted with a year of work from there and put Varland in his starting spot. Seems like if they want to protect his arm it would be easier to do from the bullpen and his results there were lights out.

    Bauer is a terrible idea and he would destroy this team. Whether his actions were criminal or not he was exposed as someone who completely disrespects women. Can you for a moment think about what kind of message that would send to 40-50% of the Twins fanbase? Even more since guys like me wouldn't even spit in his direction. In addition, putting aside his many public problems, he's a horrible clubhouse guy. There's a reason no one has signed him. He's selfish, abrasive and focused on being the center of attention at all times. He seems like a horrible human being to have to work with on a daily basis and a terrible addition to any team.

    It's kind of silly to make predictions about how these guys are going to perform going forward and then assume your prediction is correct and become adamant one way or the other that it was a great or awful trade. Time will tell and the Twins have examined this in far greater detail than any of us can. But the thing most posters are forgetting is that before you get to win a World Series you need to win a playoff spot. The Twins are far from an established, dominant favorite to do that. This move significantly improves the likelihood they qualify for the playoffs. That is THE first step. It elevates the team floor and not just for this year which is a big deal. To take playoff participation for granted is fool's gold. Trading a great prospect for better stability in getting to the playoff is not a bad deal at all.
