  1. Must have been one of those grand forks someone stuck in him... Well done, Mr. Hunter!
  2. Oh, i figured it out! You can distinguish between good Magnum and bad Magnum by the hat.
  3. I also gotta read me this thread in a slower and deliberate fashion. There was poetry. Good stuff. And i's sad i did not the contribute. And having asked what we learned, i gotta learn too, if only to set a good example. But yeah, as fun as it may be to give folk a hard time, life is probably more important than game threads, so don't be too hard on anyone who acknowledges that... Anyway, yeah... Find time to read. Learn something myself, and perhaps contribute a bit more next time.
  4. Runner on second with one out. This sounds familiar for some reason...
  5. If you were a twin, we'd have the lead. Hope one of the Twins can say as much soon.
  6. Hicks beats out the dribbler! On first with no outs... Looks good.
  7. If he must fail, i'm glad he chose that to fail on...
  8. Perhaps just barely, as they are professionals, but ranging that way and then making the throw is more difficult than it looks. Trying to put anything extra on the throw is likely to pull it up the third base line, just like he did... (I remember thinking the same thing when Hicks airmailed that sort of throw in spring training a year ago)
  9. We be tied! (i's happy, but not satisfied)
  10. Santana trips! er, i mean triples!
  11. Gibson strands another runner in scoring position. Have both teams stranded a runner at second and a runner at third now?
  12. I didn't see it (nor am i Halsey) but might it have been one of those "hit and run, and wait at second to see if it is a double or a fly out"?
  13. That had not occurred to me. I went back and looked at the record. Indeed 3 AL teams had losing records: The Yankees, the Orioles, and the Indians. And before inter-league play, those 3 had to lose enough for the other 11. So my hat's off to them for their noble sacrifice in making everyone else feel better. But speaking of tough divisions... 33/115 and 35/122 both apparently round to .287, but the first fraction must be greater than the second, 'cause they list Hunter first in the batting averages. I might have to pull out a calculator to verify...
  14. I say, excellent pitching can make quite a difference...
  15. I haven't noticed that, but it has bugged me a little that i think cleveland plays a video game sound effect every time they score a run. Fortunately that hasn't been too annoying before last inning...
  16. Sounds like a job for... the Thesaurus. But of course, redundancy has its uses.
  17. Cue Chief-esc response in 3...2...
  18. Concur. (once i figured out you meant May, not Plouffe)
  19. Oh well. Tied game following a couple o' hits, perhaps with an assist to Rosario for letting the ball get away from him. (Some theme of 'infielders in the outfield' here isn't quite accurate, but isn't quite off base?)
  20. And it was good. --- Thanks ChiTownTwinsFan (to use your full and proper title) for the briefs on game thread history! If one has ever read a history book, that is nice and too the point. Succinct, you might even say. (I know this 'cause i'm still awake) And truer words ain't never been said. What makes the threads special is everyone's commentary. Anyway, i'm lookin' forward to another exciting game this afternoon. Oh yeah, and echoin' the already expressed mother's day sentiments.
  21. At long last, i think i came up with a comment what does justice to the game thread intro: Too many notes. Teh googels help you if you don't get the reference... Good night everybody!
  22. Winner? Yes. Concur. (just to get them all out of the way.)
  23. Folderol... Now there's a word i don't hear so often. I associate it with madrigals. Nicely put, good ashburyjohn. Speaking of which, Twins pitching seems to have mastered the cardinal rule of show biz: always leave 'em wanting more. I like.
