I think the plan for Brent Rooker is to put the side work in on the Taxi squad, and be ready to knock the snot out of stirkes, let balls go by, and run the bases smart. Oh, and to field cleanly what he can get to.. And hit his cut off. In short, plaay ball. -
Simmons got no team MVP votes? I expect him to be in the discussion at the end, although i can't fault no one for not expecting him to win it....

If asked to name knucklers in the 21st century, i woulda come up with those. So yeah, i actually take Wakefield as my personal Dobnak comp, being perceived as a low ceiling workman-like pitcher. So now i definitely don't believe the allstar game is too great a stretch. And my impression is Wakefield too had an interesting contract for a stretch: being a mutual perpetual option for the next season with the Red Sox at $1m. Dickey i knew had earned Ace status for a period after leaving the Twins, so not at all surprised he made the allstar game.
