  1. Six in the books Twins up, Six two That's how it looks This C. B. U. (Burma Shave)
  2. They keep trying to get it by Beckham and it ain't working. Someone on the White Sox is fielding his weight...
  3. Well, at this point, no blood, no foul... And that sort o' play is why ya try and give 'em enough playing time to keep sharp.
  4. Concur. Do moments of silence exist on game thread? Or some equivalent?
  5. Milone covers second, another assist to Buxton on the lost popup.
  6. He has a lot to learn about camouflage, but yeah.
  7. Buxton keeps it only a 1 run deficit. 2-1, half 3rd. (CBU-- not SXO)
  8. And would only a Twins fan be proud of that? Count me in, for sure.
  9. I know this is a while ago, and it coulda trivially been verified by google and wikipedia, but i finally came across the Annotated Casey at the Bat on the shelves again. In front of version 1 is the following paragraph: "THIS is the original version of Casey--word for word, comma for comma--exactly as it appeared in the fourth column of the San Francisco Examiner, Sunday morning, June 3, 1888." (I don't entirely believe it, as there are lots of little numbers referring to notes on later pages, but i bet in this case, that's what "annotated" means...) Of further interest, it appears version 25 is "Cool" Casey at the Bat, by the editors of Mad, originally published in October '60.
  10. True dat. Poor choice of words on my part...
  11. That was my figuring, especially with a lefty on the mound, but i saw some value in the latter as well, so it was worth trying to provoke discussion... on a thread... about the game.
  12. Is the decision to play Nunez at short rather than Escobar riding the hot bat? Or is it giving him a chance to get comfortable at the position as well as more playing time in general?
  13. Wait, What?! Buxton is the lead off batter? And no one hithertofore has commented thereupon? I do not know how long in the snow I wrestled with grisly fear; But the stars came out and they danced about ere again I ventured near; I was sick with dread, but I bravely said: "I'll just take a peep inside. I guess he's cooked, and it's time I looked"; ... then the door I opened wide. Should be a good game, independent of whether Vargas and/or Buxton are suffering some growing pains. Anyway, i approve of the moral of the snake. It's not the outside of the bunny that matters: it's the bunny inside. Snakes apparently know this instinctively.
  14. Yes. (Not to imply i ever stopped.)
  15. Is there a Chief in the house? No? Going once... Going twice...
  16. 5 run lead. (Woulda been a 4 run lead, but for that challenge)
  17. Concur. Alas, it isn't bad to give Graham his work either.
  18. Unlike the tale (not tail, no monkey here) of Mel Famey, a i recall it?
  19. Hughes flashes the leather for a 3rd out. Always good to see.
  20. Hard to say, except they are soon parted... Maybe it's a batting helmet, not a running helmet?
  21. Bartender pulls out a book entitled "to serve spirits" (My, ashburyjohn, but that was good!)
  22. I think you have to kill the beer for the ghost... Does that mean you can sell the same beer twice?
