  1. All of the sudden it seems like the prospects are pushing upwards. Decision time for the Twins front office.
  2. Patience little grasshopper. All in due time. There is no reason to rush Hicks. Let's see how he does through the month of May. If he's still hitting well towards the end of the month then it's time. Not before though. We've seen this from Aaron before.
  3. I have to admit that after the 1-6 start i was flipping the panic switch. That said, these last two weeks and the Twins return to relevance has been a breath of fresh air. I hope it continues. I like that the front office has called up Rosario and is watching Buxton closely in Chattanooga. That would seem to indicate that changes are likely coming in the outfield soon. Obviously the platoon in CF is not ideal but it hasn't been so terrible (lately) that it has cost us games. Arcia too hasn't exactly been outstanding in LF either. I bet that Ryan is watching Buxton closely and we could see a callup to Rochester in a few weeks. The point is though that help is on the way for the outfield. The next key item is the starting rotation. If these guys can keep these games under control and respectable for the most part this team will win games, there's no doubt in my mind. The offense is good enough to compensate. What has impressed me the most is the FO commitment to May after Nolasco went down with the injury. Maybe it was by chance, but they stuck with him and Trevor has stepped up pretty well. I expect him to gain more steam as the season progresses. Pelfrey....Mike has been a big surprise so far. I think a lot of us had pretty much given up on him, but now he appears to be back on track AND he's added a split finger pitch to his repertoire. My honest opinion.....SELL, put that for sale sign out at the curb RIGHT NOW. Now is our chance to recoup some of the lost investment in him. Especially true given we have Milone, Rogers and Berrios ready to go in AAA. Nolasco. Boy I don't know about this guy. What do you do with him? If he continues to pitch like this i don't see how you keep him in the rotation. He just stinks. Too bad he's signed for two more years. Yuck!
  4. I've moved on from Hicks. If he ends up turning things around and has a respectable major league career as a corner outfielder i'd be happy, but at this point i'm looking at Buxton and Rosario. We've seen this smoke and mirror show from Hicks before.
  5. Good move by the Twins. It will be nice to see what Rosario can do even if this is a short term callup. I also like that they were considering Pinto as well. Looks like we FINALLY get to start seeing the talent that has been drafted these past couple of years. EXCITING!
  6. Unless Sano really turns it around here shortly, i don't see a trade of Plouffe anytime soon.
  7. Alex just needs to relax and pitch. If he saves some of that gas for later innings he'll walk fewer batters and his arm & shoulder will thank him.
  8. Buxton has looked a lot better lately. I'd like to see the Twins send Berrios and Buxton to Rochester in a couple of weeks. Not to change the subject but has anyone been paying attention to Taylor Rodgers? Guy is off to a good start in AAA.
  9. True but teams are more willing to gamble on guys with one year deals. MIke is tradeable no doubt.
  10. Terry Ryan is just being stubborn at this point. After last nights disaster Tim Stauffer should be DFA'd no ifs ands or butts. PERIOD! Guy is absolutely HORRIBLE and has blown multiple games for this team already. There is absolutely NO REASON that he should pitch in any more games. I've seen enough. You? The outfield isn't much better. The sight of Arcia, Schafer and Hunter day in and day out is almost vomit inducing. Not only are they hitting poorly, but they are making boneheaded decisions that have nothing to do with talent level. Inexcusable. Schafer flat out stinks. I think it's time to call up Hicks and just pray that this time around he sticks. Send Vargas down to AAA for a while with the hope that he figures things out and move Arcia over to DH temporarily and callup Rosario. Let Arcia and Rosario split time at LF & DH.
  11. If the Dodger's scouts were indeed watching the Twins starters you would hope that Terry Ryan called Zaidi and offered up Nolasco. Heck I'd offer to pay part of his salary for the next 2-1/2 years if they took him off our hands. Seems like a no-brainer.
  12. I'd trade him to the Dodgers for cash and future considerations. Straight up that would be a win win for the Twins.
  13. Unfortunately, I think you're correct. If his last start hadn't been shortened by that fluke ball to the elbow he would have had more time to make the case that he belongs. However, at this point money and option years talk. May will likely go down to AAA when Nolasco returns, unless Milone absolutely implodes in his next start.
  14. If they're going to move him you would think it would happen at or around the all-star break. If he continues to pitch like this (I have my doubts) some team looking for a rentable starter will take him off our hands for a B level prospect, which in my opinion is a WIN WIN compared to where we were at six months ago. He's a free agent at seasons end, no long term commitment required, and pitching well..... for the moment. Plus, plus & plus to a club looking for a serviceable 5th starter in the midst of a playoff push. That said, it scares the heck out of me that the Twins FO will have another brain fart and hang onto him, before signing him to ANOTHER extension......shudders. We have enough of these mediocre filler guys already (Milone & Nolasco). What would be more desirable is to move Big Mike to a playoff contender and then figure out someway somehow to offload Nolasco. I see it as an amicable split because he's unhappy in Minnesota anyways and the sooner the better. However, for that to happen it requires good pitching and wins from from Ricky, something he has not displayed yet with the Twins. One way or another two of these guys will be optioned to AAA by the All-Star break. Once Santana's suspension is up something has got to give in this rotation.
  15. I think the Twins need to REALLY really think hard before sending Trevor back down again. Just saying.
  16. Actually believe it or not Joe Mauer hasn't been that bad.
  17. I think your right. I'd like to see some shuffling in the outfield to start with. Call up one or more of the following (Rosario, Hicks and Buxton) and start interchanging pieces out there hopefully raising the bar defensively. DFA what you don't need (Hunter, Robinson, Schafer). I'm really down on Arcia. Is this kid ever going to step up defensively? He kind of reminds me of Hicks; undisciplined at the plate, boneheaded plays in the outfield and questionable work ethic. Is it me or have the Twins been drafting more of these types lately? Anyways, if the starting pitching continues to stink i think you start looking at Berrios and Meyer. I REALLY REALLY like what we've seen from Berrios so far. Kid has great work ethic, determination, guts and the stuff to go with it. He has a strong mental game. Callup Berrios, DFA Pelfrey and then find a way to move Nolasco at some point making way for Meyer even if we have to eat a big chunk of his salary. Not sure that they would be willing to dump Milone at this point unless its for good prospects. Sano. I definitely see a mid may call up depending on how he handles Chattanooga. Plouffe has been AWFUL so far. Perhaps he turns it around, but how much longer do the Twins put up with the low batting average and high strikeout rates when he can't even get a hit period, let alone the occassional homerun? I think at the very least you bench him in favor of Escobar who can hit .250 and play the position adequately at least for the time being.
  18. If the Twins lose 100+ loses this season you have to believe that a BUNCH of heads are going to roll in the front office. I don't know if Terry Ryan was or is on the hot seat, but judging some of his statements last fall he was getting an ear full from the Pohlads. If he's replaced who knows who they will fill the gap with and the chaos it will create. If it was up to me i'd clean house from Dave St. Peter on down.

  20. After watching these first 7 games I haven't hit the panic button just yet, but I'm about too. I don't have a good feeling about this bunch AT ALL. We have scrubs in the bullpen, scrubs in the outfield and several scrubs in the rotation. This team is going NOWHERE real fast. Judging from what we've seen so far: terrible outfield defense, awful offensive, horrid bullpen blowing games left and right, and mediocre starting pitching at best, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they end up with 100+ loses. I've watched this team for almost 30 years (certainly not as long as some of the old timers), but this is some of the worst play i've ever seen by Twins and it could get a whole lot UGLIER very quickly. If the current trend continues Terry Ryan should consider calling up prosects in a few weeks. By the time the all-star break rolls this team will be so far below .500 that there will be no pressure on anyone the rest of the season other than defacto tryouts for 2016.
  21. Yea Trevor has been awful this year.
  22. Yeah he hasn't looked too good. 11 hits, 6 ER in 3 innings is tough. Stauffer too. I think in another week or two we'll have a much better idea of what we've got. I think Molitor should continue to trot those two guys out and see if they can pick themselves up. Then re-evaluate. If not onto plan B, whatever that is.
  23. "IS THERE REASON FOR HOPE ANY REASON" Nope. None at all.
  24. I agree with you. Unless Pelfrey's arm literally falls off i don't see the Twins giving May, Meyer or anyone else at AAA a shot before September. It ain't happenin. Of the five starters (not including Pelfrey) all are under contract through 2018 and three are under contract through 2019. There is clearly a rotation logjam right now and Terry Ryan is in no hurry to clear space. In fact the FO is SO desperate to win games this year and draw more fans that they are pushing back the timetable for most of their prized prospects with the hope that the mediocre veterans will scrap together a few more wins and avoid another 90+ loss season. They have exhibited this pattern year after year after year. It DOESN'T WORK! Honestly, I don't think that Berrios will see the majors until mid 2017 given he's only 21. May and Meyer might get a September callup but that's only if the Twins are totally out of the running by August and the injury bug has bitten the rotation. As far as the lineup goes Sano might get a fall callup but only if he's tearing the cover off the ball and Plouffe is struggling at 3rd. In the outfield, if Jordan Schafer and Shane Robinson stay above the Mendoza line i really don't see Ryan calling up Buxton or Rosario this season. Not trying to be negative but we all know how Terry Ryan runs this operation. It's all about fielding mediocre veterans.
