  1. I would prefer Kepler stay up, and play CF for a month, to see what he has. But, maybe they are now gunshy, and don't want to "rush" him.......who knows, it is pretty hard to figure out the plan.
  2. From where we sit, it appears there is no plan. Just a bunch of hope.
  3. So, about that bench........maybe Ryan doesn't feel they need a bench, since Molly doesn't PH for the catcher ever?
  4. By the time they call up the young RPs, they will be out of the race. They aimed low on catcher, and the bullpen, and they are getting what they deserved. If you are going to argue they weren't ever competitive this year anyway, why sign a 29 / 30 year old DH, and not start with some youth in the bullpen?
  5. That doesn't make losing him a good idea, in and of itself. The mistakes pile up over time, that's the problem here, imo. Too many mistakes piling up.
  6. the young guys aren't likely to step up when the SP are mostly long time veterans, as is all but one of the infielders. Until they turn over the roster, this is the leadership you have. the leaders they loved so much, they went out and signed a guy to be a leader last year.
  7. And, they refuse to call up any pitchers, so, um, why do they care if they lose the marginal ones?
  8. So, they are willing to lose what tiny little catching depth they have, so they can call up a 34 yo corner "OF"......who else are they going to lose as a result of this? Ugh. Just. Ugh. It's just terrible roster management, imo.
  9. Are they really going to call him up, and maybe lose a young player? Or are they going to finally go with youth?
  10. This is exactly what some of us feared, btw. The starters wouldn't be bad, but they wouldn't be good. And, the higher upside guys would use more pitches in the minors, and nothing here would really change. So far, that's what we've seen, imo.
  11. Well, I'm not sure you should worry about years of control with pitchers.....but putting that aside...... If Milone doesn't get better, move him to the bullpen. While you are at it, DFA Fien, and send down the least effective guy still there. Call up Berrios and Duffey. Put Duffey in the bullpen. At some point, having uber talented guys up here is more important than having mediocre guys here, but depth in the minors. I'd argue we are at that point now, but I can see why Ryan and team want to wait another week or two.
  12. In the other thread on this topic, there is a quote from Gardy saying he thought Danny was going to be great. It is in the other thread, if you want to see it.
  13. Kind of hard to continue the discussion here.
  14. As a Scout, he thought Danny Santana was going to be great. Scouting is part of his job now......
  15. Uh, only if that was the last post........
  16. ? What uproar? Most people wanted him at the top of the order?
  17. If we hear from van this soon, it will be like watching the twins "hit".
  18. Mauer sacrificed in the first inning? You cannot be serious.
  19. Did someone just type that Nunez is leading off, and Escobar is hitting 7th?
  20. See, I can like posts I don't totally agree with! I especially dig the last sentence, man.
