    IMO, much better defense than Harper, and not as good on offense.......All of my opinions are based on reading about him, and looking at stats though...so who knows.

    The Angels have the worst farm system in baseball.....they need all the flyers they can get. It cost them nothing, really.....since they aren't catching TX or Houston this year, and probably not next year.

    Beast might be over statement.....but yes, I think Berrios' start was more important than 1 game from a guy most of us believe in, and who has shown MLB success.....

    Hey, we agree, they messed up in how they used Meyer.....but the question is, on August 1, what should they do with the players they have? Me? I think what they did do worked. I think Santiago pitches really well here, or is not on the roster next year, and Meija (sp?) is your 5th starter, or some flyer FA. And while that 9MM or whatever doesn't help us, if I'm the owner, I appreciate that 9MM.....

    Fair, I'd like May to be a SP.....so that's 1. I don't think any AA starter will be starting for the Twins in April of next year......or May of next year, nor June of next year. After that, maybe. It is also possible Meija is ready early next year (which let's hope he is, as SPs get hurt a lot.....).

    That's a good question, and one that some people raised after the trade was made.....but is not relevant to "what should the Twins do now?".

    I'm curious.....who do you think in AAA or the MLB roster is better than Santiago, based on outcomes? Santana Gibson Berrios ???? Duffey? Milone? Dean?

    About half the posts don't mention Meyer.....they rip on Santiago....... I loved Meyer....but he's pitched a combined, what, 100 innings or so the last two years, maybe? He's not young, he's super tall, and the Twins had clearly soured on him. I would imagine he had to be on the 25 man roster next year.........would you keep him on the 25 man roster next year?

    After years, though......some pitchers clearly outperform their FIP, and some underperform.......FIP isn't like gravity or sunshine......... I cannot understand how anyone can look at this trade, and not think, wow, Antony got rid of Nolasco, and got something back in return.....

    It sure would help if Buxton and/or Sano could hit.......that lineup is not exactly scary.

    As much as I don't like Suzuki not traded......I think I'd give Antony a B or B+ for this deadline.......which is a really high grade for me.

    The only downside, imo, is that Suzuki is still in MN......it is hard to see how he wasn't dealt.

    Look, I really liked Meyer last year (or the year before......not sure.....)......but they got a legit MLB pitcher for him, who can probably be flipped at next year's deadline, and Meyer may never pitch in the majors. Oh, and they unloaded Nolasco and saved some money.......I hope Meyer becomes awesome, because I just want people to succeed, but I can't rip this deal. Not even in retrospect if that happens....
