  1. He should have been demoted back to the starting rotation weeks ago.
  2. foul ball off foot
  3. Love Centeno's arm and enthusiasm, hate his inability to block pitches effectively.
  4. Back in the olden days, on stolen bases, the fielder might make a tag on a close play and then punch the glove into the air, as if to show the tag to the umpire. Nowadays, with replay, if you are a fielder, you apply the tag and keep the glove down on the runner, hell or high water. I like the old way better. Resist change, people! I beg you all!
  5. No, I fully agree. Just commiserating with the base runner.
  6. and I hate that play. I don't know why. A base stealer loses contact with the bag for one instant, even if he's basically smothering the bag, and your called out. What can you do.
  7. How signable is Kirilloff? What happens if they can't or don't sign him?
  8. It was me. I'm sorry. It will clear out and be safe to come back in a few minutes.
  9. I noticed that too and I agree.
  10. I firmly believe that if Arcia had been given a clear role and expectations with consistent playing time, such as the lefty hitting side of a RF or DH platoon, that he could have been a huge asset for this team.
  11. Agree, but what a fine line it is trying to know if a guy's edginess would lead to destructiveness. However, some guys like Johnny Manziel (who Kohl Stewart actually went to school with) are just patently easy to identify and avoid. Or I think they almost went to school together?
  12. Clear skies and getting a little muggy in the Twin Cities as the Twins try to sweep the Marlins. Miami sends Tom Koehler (3-6, 4.50) to the mound against Ervin Santana (1-5, 4.50). First pitch at 7:10 PM. Please follow Jeremy Nygaard's official coverage of the MLB 2016 amateur draft here and jump into the discussion. I'm not a big draft head, but even I get sucked into Twins Daily's good coverage of it. Here is a link to his final mock draft list. Skin in the game. I love it! Did I link to the TwinsDaily draft coverage yet? Here's the link. The word draft means so many things. All I will say about the draft tonight is this. I hope the Twins take the player who pulls the biggest load, quaffs the freshest drinks, and creates the coolest breeze behind him. Does that make any sense? If not, keep in mind it's only an early version of what I really think, and I'm still in the process of rewriting it. 1. Florida Marlins entered the league in 1993, and participated in an expansion draft with the Colorado Rockies in November 1991. From that draft the Marlins found Trevor Hoffman but soon after sent him to San Diego. Hoffman would go on to make second on the all time MLB saves list. 2. The first player the Marlins ever drafted was Charles Johnson, a catcher and Florida native who would go on to win a World Series in 1997 with the Marlins. 3. One guy who refused to be drafted was Muhammad Ali. What does this have to do with baseball? Well, true story, the Miami Marlins broke the news of Ali's passing two hours before it became public. Link to story here. 4. The draft will actually be taking place the same time as the game tonight, so perhaps Target Field management will put live draft coverage up on the scoreboard to give the people at the game something to watch. I'M JOKING PEOPLE 5. I am predicting a 3-1 Twins victory tonight. The math is simple: just add up the first rounders. Joe Mauer + Trevor Plouffe + Byron Buxton = 3, and Christian Yelich = 1. Giancarlo Stanton (as Michael Stanton) was actually a second round pick so he will probably fly out to the warning track in the 9th for the final out. MIAMI MARLINS 1. Ichiro Suzuki, RF 2. Martin Prado, 3B 3. Christian Yelich, LF 4. Marcell Ozuna, CF 5. Giancarlo Stanton, DH 6. Justin Bour, 1B 7. Derek Dietrich, 2B 8. J.T. Realmuto, C 9. Adeiny Hechevarria, SS Pitching: Tom Koehler MINNESOTA TWINS 1. Eduardo Nunez, SS 2. Robbie Grossman, LF 3. Joe Mauer, 1B 4. Trevor Plouffe, 3B 5. Brian Dozier, 2B 6. Byung Ho Park, DH 7. Oswaldo Arcia, RF 8. Juan Centeno, C 9. Byron Buxton, CF Pitching: Ervin Santana First pitch: 7:10 PM
  13. Nice! Only been there once. Thanks for that info. Two dots connect for me.
  14. Really interesting that Sedlock and Hudson have nearly identical stat lines in college. With only one season as starter and relief their first two seasons. I wonder when the Twins started putting scouting eyes on them? Is there StatCast type of data they have access to?
  15. whatever you just said...... it somehow makes sense.
  16. Nolasco not exactly dealing against the worlds greatest lineup, but he's getting the job done and not doing too bad.
  17. Maybe you want to use 'hallucinating' instead?
