  1. That's too much, but as an opening offer, there is nothing really wrong with it. Particularly if the Dodgers initiated talks, which is more likely than not.
  2. Impeachments backfire. Clinton impeachment mid 90s backfired. Scott Walker's recall backfired. Just my opinion.
  3. Damn, looks fantastic. One of these years.
  4. Why stop at Alvarez? Why not throw Bellinger into the deal while we're at it?
  5. I guess I am not hung up on De Leon specifically, or how the media ranks him. He wasn't the right guy right now. Remember the Dodger guy who tweeted the Dodgers were not high on him.
  6. Nunez is to Meija as Dozier is to De Leon. That's how I read it. I think a De Leon type prospect or more will be available at some future point, if need be.
  7. I think the phrase was "not much considerable difference" which I took to mean they are different, just not vastly different depending on how you want to look at it.
  8. I will contradict my earlier position and say that I am ok with Sano playing some right field this season, if circumstances warrant. Just as long as he follows the golden rule: When in doubt, Let it bounce™ However, coming off an 83 win season and intending to compete for a wild card, I still think the decision to move him out there last year with no experience was a head-scratcher and ill-advised, at best.
  9. Sano does some good things at third base. Embrace the Error, and all your worries will wash away.
  10. I will confess that it's possible the Twins never lowered their asking from De Leon + another Top 3-5 prospect. And if so, and because prospects are not sure things, I still feel the fair deal was closer to what the Twins were asking than the Dodgers hoping to give just De Leon and minor piece(s) (which is still what I personally believe).
  11. Agreed, Knapp gave some context to De Leon's shoulder issue, which might have alleviated some concern about him here if this trade were still a possibility.
  12. I appreciate that you post 'em as you see 'em, even when you disagree in opinion with what they say.
  13. Maybe the Twins are only 50% sure De Leon can be a three? Maybe the Twins don't see De Leon as highly as a couple of the national media guys do. Also, I would guess a baseball lifer like Knapp knows the context of the trade talks, player rules, etc., in addition to personal information he surely knows about De Leon that he would never share with Berardino.
  14. Do I disagree? What do you think?
  15. Falvey keeps doing the same thing with the Twins while expecting different results?
  16. I actually thought Knapp had good things to say about De Leon. He likes his ceiling more than most but admits he's still a bit of a project.
  17. Remember, every team supposedly has a complete book on every other player in every organization, and all that. It's not something I personally buy into, but i've seen it suggested here. In any case, Knapp knows De Leon intimately well, which comes through in the interview.
  18. Knapp is not a source at all. Not as far as shedding light on the trade talks, he isn't. Knapp is just a guy who knows both Dozier and De Leon really, really well and is uniquely situated to talk on record about both of them. And he gave a great interview to Berardino. Edit: ninja'd by nick post 345
  19. Good find. Kudos to Berardino for tracking down Knapp. I admit I didn't really think much about what opinions Pickler might have during this. http://www.twincities.com/2017/01/24/will-minnesota-twins-regret-passing-on-jose-de-leon-for-brian-dozier/
  20. Also FWIW, Chris Camello was tweeting that the Dodgers were never high on De Leon. So then the question is why should the Twins be high on him, then.
  21. Does this mean we all need to become experts on the Mariners system now?
  22. They got younger at catcher. Mauer is Mauer, and I doubt Falvey will attempt to trade or cut him. Mauer is very good defender who probably won't be hitting in the middle of the order anymore. Kepler is a younger guy who might be hitting second or third, which does making the batting order slightly younger. Sophomore slump for Kepler is a concern. I grant you the pitching staff is a different beast, but I have no problem if they want to study those guys more closely before making a move.
  23. Valid point, the Twins are not bursting with talent up and down the roster, but I think the starting nine is set and they are mostly pretty good and pretty young.
  24. The Twins are extremely young, Mike. Except for 2B, it's almost harder to get younger. I don't think Hughes actually makes the rotation this season and at least one of Grossman or Santana is cut in spring, which true some of those things are yet to be seen.
