  1. Don't forget Hastert's history of child molesting. Republicans: gotta love 'em.
  2. True, but these people are 50 meter (easy) targets for Republicans. What about someone like Tammy Duckworth or a red state senator?
  3. It's only a small digression and still on topic, in my opinion. After all, if Trump resigns tomorrow (and anything is possible), you would not automatically lock the thread because Trump is no longer president anymore.
  4. I guess that's what bothers me. She is the face of the team and perceptions matter.
  5. True.*also very important
  6. not deflecting just pointing out that Democrats might come back into power someday. Then what?
  7. I like the above posters idea too. I was thinking Cedar Rapids for myself. Whichever pitchers are coming or going through the system.
  8. I keep thinking back to how Democrats ran on health care reform for an entire generation, as their top issue, and then when they get to power in 2009 they have nothing ready, no votes lined up, and end up settling for the far right-wing Heritage Center health care reform plan.
  9. Glad to hear it. I am against the Democrats having anything to do with impeachment, and if Trump resigns he will blame it on the Democrats and media, so they will need a practical response. On the other hand, the Democrats just elected their senate and house minority leaders from New York and San Francisco, respectively. How dare Republicans accuse Democrats of being coastal elites, right? Ugh. Nothing about this is good. Rant over, for now.
  10. How are Democrats laying the groundwork to show the public they can be trusted again, or to show how spineless and pathetic the Republicans are?
  11. I will sign up for a couple of guys. Or I can comment on prospects already adopted unless people feel like that's not in the spirit of it or stepping on their territory.
  12. Using Kintzler as closer this year feels a lot like using Jepsen as closer last year. And Molitor will be the last one to figure it out.
  13. Nor is this an exaggeration or mischaracterization.
  14. Congrats to the founders and everybody else here. I love this place. Not to kiss a**, but I think the discussion moderators are what keeps this place so great. As a contrast, look at the Twins discussions the Star Tribune. They missed the boat. For the life of me I can not understand why more news sites have not devoted resources to moderating discussion of their content and finding good moderators.
  15. and you managed to say so in less than 25 words!
  16. Here's a link to what Ben is talking about -- and I had missed this. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/01/could-seth-manesss-elbow-surgery-represent-a-tommy-john-alternative.html It's a pretty in-depth and satisfying read for an MLB trade rumors article.
  17. So much for casting SNL anymore, when it's just Hollywood folks flying in and taking over
  18. I think the saner Trump voters are going to abandon him. I just wish I knew how many of those there are. I'd roughly guess his voters are about 50/50 made up of "piss off liberals" vs. people who actually expect him to follow through on things. Which he has no intention of doing, as we know. Trump is going to drag this immigrant-hating out for months to the exclusion of everything else, and people are going to get sick of it. I hope.
  19. I will check this one out.
  20. No, Chief is tracking my thinking quite well. I am not trying to be your adversary, but I did look up Adrianza's range after you suggested I do so, and I posted what I found. Instead of checking RF at Baseball Ref, I checked RZR at Fangraphs, which I thought you might appreciate. Adrianza's RZR was the best of 73 shortstops with 200 innings at shortstop since 2015. I did not type this but posted a JPEG instead, which you might not have seen. Obviously it's too few innings but it should tell us something. So, I am expecting Adrianza to be a very good fielder. I am as curious as anyone about that Giants writer who described Adrianza as learning baseball from an in-flight magazine during his trip to the U. S. (or however he/she put it.) That was a great line and it makes you wonder what kind of entertainment the guy might provide when he's not fielding grounders.
  21. Here is excellent advice for Democrats, IMO: http://democracyjournal.org/arguments/keep-it-simple-and-take-credit/ (Note: there are some F-words)
  22. I'm pretty sure this is on the list of things to fix, but I'd much prefer if Vikings and Wild threads don't show up on the forums list on the home page.
  23. If you mean argue in the sense of presenting data to support my own impression, then sure. None of us know much if anything about Adrianza. According to Fangraphs, RZR "measures a player's range." Sure it's only Fangraphs but I think Fangraphs is reliable. We were evaluating your claim that he is an average defender.
  24. Good to see. Like another poster said, being in the opposition is maybe the best way for a coalition to take for.
  25. Ben: Possibly. "Here comes the politician from the cities in her fake working-man outfit surrounded by men in expensive dress clothes, and they've only got 25 minutes for us." As long as she's having honest conversations with people and not checking her watch, it's better than nothing. Who knows.
