  1. I mean, trade France and Sands for a good prospect, sure. Will a trade like that really make an impact, near term or long term? Is it really that good of an idea to trade away Joe Ryan? Really, though?
  2. No! 😀 (really though, no. And do what with who next year?)
  3. Gentleman’s bet with you— I say that Jax does maintain this level of performance over the next two years. I like the setup with Jax in the 8th and Duran in the 9th. It takes me back to a time before StatCast, when teams set up their bullpens by what felt right, and it is in my opinion the best thing the Twins have going for them this year. (Well, 2nd to Buxton’s great year.) It would be a mistake to break up the Jax/Duran combo voluntarily. As good as they are pitching for the Twins, no team is going to break the bank for either of them in a trade negotiation.
  4. I see January’s windchill
  5. I think I know which two players you are talking about. Can you foresee any situation in which either of them ever plays another inning with the Twins at the MLB level? (barring a slew of sudden injuries) Actually, I could see one way for one of the players, but the Twins have shown they won’t try using the player that way. Anyway, bottom line is we could clear two spots from the 40 player roster right there, and not really miss a beat, aside from the initial shock of hearing the news. So in those cases, it was the trades not already made, that the Twins missed on.
  6. 👆 Lewis has always seen himself as an All-Star shortstop. I still do as well. (I am not assuming you still agree with me @TL) Lewis can still be successful. I believe the sunny attitude we associated with Lewis is still in there as well. How quickly we forget how transformative Lewis promised to be. I am not trying to convince anyone of anything at this point. Lewis’s childhood idol was Derek Jeter. (All the ball guys will tell you that Jeter was a terrible fielder.) Lewis never got the chance to be Derek Jeter here and I wish the front office would trade him to a team that can give him that chance. They could get a very nice return for Lewis, and they know it.
  7. Good catch. Were the coaches asleep, you ask? Probably, I would say. I do think throwing every pitch in the exact same location was the biggest problem there, which I mentioned. Ultimately that falls on Stewart. But hey, shout out to Stewart for being able to locate your fastball and throwing strikes. 🙂
  8. People are talking about Jeffers bad game. Well they can add the 6 straight fastballs Jeffers called for Brock Stewart to throw in that 5th, and Stewart threw every single one of them middle-middle or middle up at 96-97 mph. I thought Stewart would wiggle out of that inning but Tovar was sitting on that first pitch fastball and crushed it. .
  9. Other teams were right to be concerned about his right ankle. It has become both feet and ankles now, that are affecting his play, and daily prep from what I’ve heard. He is a tough SOB and might have one more good season in him at some point.
  10. A glass half full is 90% mental. (did i get that right?)
  11. Paddack needs to give the Twins some innings. Bullpen needs a breather tonight, I am guessing.
  12. and then—hear me out—play them at that same position in the majors!
  13. “One a them new-fangled 43 yard extra points, I betcha. Back in my day, the extra point meaned something.”
  14. “Dad, why did Terry LeCount just spike that football after he scored the touchdown? doesn’t Bud Grant have a policy against that?” ”Well, kid,” said the dad, tussling the kid’s hair, “it’s because the world is going to hell in a handbasket, that’s why.” Note: Based on a true story
  15. I don’t think he has much trade value but I do think he is a good Twins contributor. There seems to have been a maturity bump, a year or two ago. Sometimes promoting a guy to the majors will give you that. SWR always takes his turn the past couple seasons, which I think is underrated. By chance, I heard a radio guy say sometime in the past month that SWR was laying on the clubhouse floor after on one his recent starts, either cramped up exhausted or dehydrated. Yikes. That would explain why Rocco doesn’t pitch him more than 5 innings. I don’t see the ace stuff or dominant bullpen potential though, no. Not every guy needs to be the future star.
  16. I hear you all. My thoughts go down bad paths often. If the Twins sweep the Rays this weekend, it may very well be ducks ‘n bunnies again for a few days. And, hey! Don’t we get to see the Cubbies and Crow-Armstrong next week!? Optimism is easier to read and live with, than pessimism. Let’s not make this too personal. Granted, Nick is a professional so open to fair criticisms. We have been hearing on TwinsDaily for several years, since 2022 at least, that the upcoming season was the “make or break” season… in my opinion, it’s been a little bit of makin’, but mostly a lot of breakin’, since then.. Personally, I think if this season ends the way the pessimists think it will, then I think there will have to be a different tone on this site. It would mean missing the playoffs in 4 of 5 years. Hard to put a shine on that. If the season ends the way the optimists hope it will, then… playoff baseball is not a bad thing, right? Chew on those pitching matchups, adjust your work schedules, and *cough*cough* like I do and figure out a way to sit your butt down for that Game 1 AL game at 12/3 PM that first Tuesday in October
  17. Correct - I don't think there is anyone as good as Correa at quickly setting himself to make an on target throw to first base. It's really a treat to watch, aside from all the other quibbles big and not so big.
  18. Moderator note: Ok everyone. I think there was some discussion at one point, about making Caretaker articles available for comment for subscribers at one point? As it stands now, comments look to be open to everyone. No need to make it meta at the expense of the actual content.
  19. Solid 6 innings for Skubal, wonder who Detroit will send out for the 7th!
