  1. What do you mean coming off a career 8 weeks? If he had a career 8 weeks this year, then he's had a career 8 weeks for the last 4 years as well. His home run totals have increased every single year since he made it to the MLB. It's not like he's hit 6 HRs per year over the last 4 years and all of a sudden this year he has hit 40. When a player is on an upward trend for 4+ years, it's not a fluke and it really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Not to mention he was an all-star last year and even hit a home run in the all star game. If he hits 65HR's next year, should we have selective amnesia, forget about this season (and the last 5 years), and insult him by minimizing his accomplishments to having a "career 8 weeks, woop dee doo?" That's player bashing and shouldn't be allowed on this message board. Secondly, what SP should we trade him for? Make a list of "MLB caliber pitchers" you want in return for him and we'll see if those teams will part with those pitchers. Just because we want X pitcher in return for him, doesn't mean we'll get that pitcher in return. We as fans don't know what all goes on behind the scenes. What if our new POBO and GM shop Dozier around, but no team is willing to part with the pitcher we want in return? Just because we don't know that information and no trade happens, are you going to blindly bash the new POBO and GM on here next season?
  2. Some years I get so much snow in my back yard, I could walk over that fence. No need to knock it down.
  3. Sano holding it down @ 3B!
  4. Agreed. It would help if he'd take the bat off of his shoulder.
  5. 88-90 MPH fastballs down the middle should be hit hard somewhere by a hitter like Joe Mauer.
  6. The more I watch Polanco play, the more I like what he brings to the roster. He's so athletic, smooth in his movements, and has good fundamentals both as a hitter and fielder. I can see him being a solid MLB player from what I have seen so far.
  7. Who else on the Twins makes the play that Sano just did? I know Plouffe can make the dive, not sure if his arm would have gotten the runner out. #StrongArmsMatter
  8. I haven't seen much of Polanco in live games, so I had to go and watch a bunch of highlight video's, but I like what I see for the most part. Polanco seems to have good baseball IQ all around. Good hitter, who can leg out doubles and triples. In the field, he seems to be focused and knows ahead of time what to do with the ball. I saw decent arm strength and range on multiple plays. He plays with such confidence and seems pretty smooth both offensively and defensively. He definitely doesn't have the arm strength of a Florimon or Sano from the left side, but I've seen enough from him to give him the benefit of the doubt and want to see him get more time at SS, so I can make a better decision. Either way, even if he eventually moves over to 2nd base, he has the tools be an all around solid MLB player.
  9. Brian Dozier: 2013 - .244 (AVG) .312 (OBP) 18 (HR's) 2014 - .242 (AVG) .345 (OBP) 23 (HR's) 2015 - .236 (AVG) .307 (OBP) 28 (HR's) - *** All Star *** 2016 - .279 (AVG) .350 (OBP) 38 (HR's and counting. 39 if not for the game cancelled by rain) Yes, he might be a hot and cold type of player, but by the end of the year his batting average and OBP have been consistently respectable and his HR's have been increasing every single year over the last 4 years. There's no denying that he is a bona fide MLB 2nd baseman. I agree with DaveW. I am open to trading him, but we need an ace pitcher and I probably wouldn't want to trade him unless another team offered something significant in return. I'm not sure what the market is like, but if the market for 2nd baseman is weak, then I"m more than fine with just keeping him. I think it's so important for teams to draft, sign, and develop their own players (pitchers included). Instead of panicking, I think the Twins need to focus on getting the right people in the front office, which will hopefully translate into finding, acquiring, and developing talent.
  10. Some fans have wanted Dozier to be traded away for a while now. I've generally been against it. Over the last few years, Dozier has been pretty good defensively and offensively. He's the kind of person and player you want on your team. Generally, I think the idea is to create a team full of good/great players, which hopefully translates into a lot of wins. I've never been a fan of trading away or getting rid of a player once that player becomes an established MLB player or an All-Star etc.. However, with the Twins being the worst team in the league, I'm not totally against trading Dozier away, but the return would have to be worthwhile and the trade would have to make sense for the rebuild process. It's very important for the Twins to hire a president and GM, which are capable of building a championship caliber team. If and / or once those people are hired, and they evaluate the team, if they feel that the rebuild will take a certain amount of time, offers for Dozier are great, and it will be very beneficial to the rebuild process, then sure, go ahead and consider all offers for Dozier. But until then, I would keep Dozier and focus on hiring quality employees in the front office.
  11. You must be a Blue Bombers fan. I'm quite happy to hear that Andrew Albers is getting another opportunity to play in the MLB.
  12. What if Dozier's defense didn't improve? What if Plouffe's defense didn't improve? What if every players defense doesn't improve? Asking this question indirectly implies that these players had a real chance or opportunity to improve. Sano should be no different. Sano's mobile enough and his arm is more than strong enough to play 3rd base. Unless the Twins keep Plouffe or get another bona fide 3rd baseman, Sano should be given every opportunity in the foreseeable to work on and improve his defense... just like every other player.
  13. This "rust" thing people are talking about is real. I know first hand. I took 8 years off to go to school and start my career. It took me years to get my timing back (mind you I don't play as much as these guys do). People are suggesting "give him the rest of the year." No, that's not fair. Guys like Plouffe, Dozier etc.. were all given multiple spring training years to improve. At the very least give Sano the rest of the year, plus a spring training. After playing RF his timing HAS to be off. Of course there's skill level and developmental and even mental issues, but there are also timing issues. Time, development, and repetitions will all benefit Sano. People expect him to be an all-star without even giving him a real chance. That's unrealistic.
  14. Yeah, I saw that ground ball that ate him up yesterday. I also saw that throw the day before that was a bit off. I have also seen him make a lot of really nice plays and throws. The guy is young, he spent spring training and the start of the season in RF. Just give the guy some time. Remember Plouffe and Dozier? They've grown and improved as infielders and baseball players, but it took them time and hard work. The same opportunity needs to be given to Sano. Give him some time to put in the hard work.
  15. Where do you suggest Sano plays if it is not 3B?
  16. Why? Mauer is just fine at 1B and Sano is just fine at 3B with his canon of an arm. I would just leave well enough alone. Sano is young and can move over to 1B at some time down the road.
  17. I like Sano at 3rd base right now. He's mobile for his size and has a strong arm. In the future he can move to 1B/DH.
  18. Carlos Gomez
  19. Miguel Sano to the 15 day DL, Max Kepler recalled from AAA.
  20. The Twins are beating themselves right now. They might have been able to tie the game up in the 8th inning if guys like Buxton and Nunez wouldn't chase after strikes that are nowhere close to the strike zone.
  21. Burns' helmet flew off of his head before he made it to first base. I guess Nunez isn't the only one.
  22. Brian Dozier: Still pulling the ball, still getting out.
  23. New drinking game: Have a drink every time these guys say "leg kick."
  24. Danny Valencia with a 2 run home run to right field. Nice hit!
