  1. Another former Twin comes back to haunt us. Drew Butera with the game winning home run.
  2. He left the game around the same time other Twins pitchers do, but he didn't give up any runs. Not bad for his first start.
  3. Johnson isn't going to make it out of the 4th inning at this rate..
  4. Dozier definitely doesn't have the range or the arm that Florimon has. But Dozier does have big play making ability and always gives a full effort, which is why he is doing so awesome at 2nd base. His arm is fairly strong for a 2nd baseman and his range is good enough. I'm not against giving Dozier another chance at SS, I just think he makes a solid 2nd baseman and seems to be helping Mauer out quite a bit. In the short term, I'd rather give Escobar more playing time @ SS and see how he does.
  5. Under. However, I will be very impressed if they finish over for the month of May.
  6. The Twins definitely have to give Escobar more playing time. Here we are panicking over the SS position and we might just have a guy on the team right now who can get the job done at the plate, while still being pretty good defensively.
  7. Outstanding at bat by Plouffe! That's how a major league player gets it done!
  8. Solid game by Escobar. Instead of panicking about the SS position, I think the Twins should just let Escobar play more and see how he does.
  9. This is just a guess, but I think it's because the Twins have shown great patience at the plate this year and he trusted Plouffe to use good judgement in that situation. If it's down the middle and Plouffe puts it in the seats, Gardy looks good. Plouffe just made a really poor decision.
  10. The Twins are 2-0 in double headers.. hopefully that trend continues tomorrow.
  11. Speaking of Escobar's hitting, he's done a really good job today, but he needs to be smarter on the base paths.. Don't drive it into the wall, then get gunned out at 3rd base..
  12. He makes those plays look routine all day long..
  13. Plouffe needs to be more patient at the plate. There was no reason to get itchy for a hit.
  14. Florimon would have made that play look routine..
  15. Mauer owes Dozier two steak dinners. First the pop up, then the fumble.
  16. I wonder how large the Blue Jays allegiance map would be..
  17. Only in Minnesota does the best starting pitcher from last year "lose" his job to a bunch of duds, only to have fans scream to have him put back into the starting rotation less than a month into the following season. Too funny.
  18. I doubt the Twins are receiving very many calls for Correia and his 7.33 ERA (Pelfrey's 7.32 ERA isn't much better). Even if the Twins could find someone to take Correia, I can't see them getting much in return. Is Meyer even ready for the MLB yet? Would Pelfrey do any better out of the bullpen? Deduno has a 1.84 ERA this year. He was arguably the best if not one of the best starters last year. I wouldn't be against moving him back to the starting rotation. Signing Drew after the comp deadline could be an option if the price and contract length made sense. But I"m just not that crazy about Drew.
  19. Considering Mauer has been one of the better two strike hitters in the league for some time, I would say, that surprises me the most. However, it's early in the season and i'd be even more surprised if all three of these trends continue until the end of the year. Colabello seems to be for real. It wouldn't surprise me if he ends up having a good year.
  20. It's no revelation that the Twins have very little infield depth. If Plouffe can't go, Escobar gets the start at 3rd. And I don't think it matters who gets called up as a back up. Whoever is playing the best in AAA would be a good place to start.
  21. Instead of taking a baby or small step forward, he took a large step back. I am frustrated with his hitting. I'm not sure what the answer is. Maybe give Escobar a few more starts than normal for the time being and see if he can get something going... At least until the Twins can bring someone in. I'm not convinced that Nunez is the answer. His defense is too frightening. I want to give Florimon until June, but watching him strike out and hit duck snorts to the pitcher is scary. Get it together Pedro!
