    This is the exact reason why all this "Hicks isn't gonna make it" nonsense is nonsense. The guy hasn't even had a full season's worth of PAs, and people are already giving up on him completely, pining for the days of Clete Thomas and D. Mastro. Seems silly to me to give up on what was supposed to be a prospect, after less than a season. Especially when the team is as bad as it is.

    Well I believe in Hicks, and I don't think he'd be better off learning at AAA.

    You really think his OPS ranking is hurting the team more than the black holes at every OF position? Or that pitchers haven't known about his first-pitch tendencies for years? MLB players and coaches are smart. No way this is the first year they've finally gleaned that throwing a first-pitch strike is a good idea against him.

    I care if Rosario is the starting CF when Buxton would be a much better defender there (hypothetically). You and I agree, I assume, that it doesn't matter who plays where from the offensive side of things. The 9 best offensive players = the best offense, obviously. But this talk of "his bat plays better in LF" is just nonsense. There's no requirement that certain defensive positions produce at certain offensive levels, other than the "that's how it's always been done" requirement.

    Your best defensive CF should play in CF, all other things being equal. There is no reason for offensive output to determine defensive positions.

    My only contribution to this thread will be the hope that the Twins aren't changing whatever plan they had for this year on the basis of being 2 games over .500 and in the WC race in late May.

    If the Twins had signed Sizemore as a CF "option", I probably would have quit being a fan. Although I didn't when they held onto Bartlett as the CF option, so take that for what it's worth.

    Whatever .500 is during this stretch, that's what the Twins will go. 1-2 against SF, 3-1 against Texas, 1-2 against NYY, 2-2 against Milwaukee. If I had to pick teams where predictions go wrong...I could see 2-2 against Texas and 3-1 against Milwaukee

    I totally agree. And I think this is as close to a "nothing to lose" situation as you can get.

    To answer my own question, Arcia is not eligible to come up to the Twins until 10 days after he was optioned. That should be this Saturday...so might want to ease up on the sarcastic blasting of roster decisions.

    I couldn't agree with you any more than I already do. Hicks has BARELY played as a major leaguer, but we're already to declare that he'll never hit, his defense is terrible, and Sam Fuld is a better choice than him? Seems silly.
