  1. I still hope the twins pony up the cash to negotiate with tanaka. it wont cost a draft pick and who know what unproved talent might go for? i dont see the twins as a landing spot for him necessarily but it costs them nothing to post the maximum bid to negotiate...unless of course they sign him.
  2. So....we could still get him. Technically....I would like it better if like only a certain number of teams could negociate no matter how many ponied up the winning bid. With some kind of lotto system based on winning %.
  3. Eric Chavez and Jeff Baker. For that to make sense though Doumit would need to b traded. I would love to see Pat Neshek back with twins but I have no idea where or how to fit him in a bullpen that already has a waiting list of good options.
  4. With a career .207 average and .193 last year I doubt that will improve much. Yes he does have good power but I am not confinced that will play all that well at Target Field. I would rather they let Pinto take his lumps. Or get "salty" even tho I think he will get paid more then he is worth
  5. i would rather have the Kazmir contract then Nolasco. But I dont think thats a fair question. i think the real question is whether i would rather have the Hughes contract or Kazmir. And i would rather have Hughes
  6. I think the twins need a lefty in the rotation. If i am right...that means one of Diamond Albers or Johnson. and no i dont think the twins sign any more free agent starters
  7. I like this much more then the Nolasco signing.I think Hughes has much more talent to outplay his contract then Nolasco does.
  8. thank you to all who make this site a good one. it is wonderful to come here and not have to deal with the viciousness of some of the other sites especially the newspapers.
  9. i really hope there is no truth to this and its avicious rumor. I would much rather they sign feldman then pelfry
  10. i like the plan. i am not sure we could get somebody to pay for all of josh's salary but i am sure somebody would eat most of it. Second i would sign him to a longer contract. Maybe thru 7 years@ the prices mentioned. And i say that because We woukd have his best yrs and get the mostout of his posting fee that way. And i would not sign any other pitcher until next offseason if i signed Tanaka. This year Meyer and Gibson would be up. Next offseason I would target a lefthander. the lineup posted for 2014 would pry get us a great draft pick 2015 when the twins are really good. I myself would rather watch the kids play then watch verens play to a .500 record
  11. Don't forget Scott Kazmir. If the twins sign Garza and Kazmir and AJ I wonder how much better they would be next yr?
  12. Good. At least we didnt sign another soft tossing low k starting pitcher
  13. I have a question. Would somebody be willing to start a thread...or two threads one that shows a listing of all the twins unprotected in the Rule 5 draft and then a list of probables the twins might select or should select in the Rule 5 draft. I realize the second is hardly feasible but would love to see somebodys perspectives anyway
  14. My guess would be that this means Kazmir is off the wish list.
  15. Shoot why stop there? Im sure Terry Mullholland could still throw and he is lefthanded. Might as well give Diamond and Albers some competition.
  16. I would make that trade in a second, but the Cubs wouldnt.
  17. Does anybody know if this means he is required to be on the 40 man roster? Or can they drop him off and stash him at AAA. I ask bc I am unable to fathom him getting a roster spot
  18. I would be absolutely thrilled if the twins would sign this guy and Tanaka. That would make this offseason a huge success. ..in my opinion. If they dont sign Kazmir they are counting on Albers and Diamond. That wont cut it.
  19. Im in the group that likes signing AJ. AJ can catch 3 days a week Pinto can catch the others. Trade Doumit sell low.
  20. The twins need to sign Tanaka and Kazmir. That would help a lot. They also need to sign AJ. I would also check in to see if they could get Jurickson Profar without giving up one of the big three. i doubt it tho. That is pry a convo for next offseason anyway. I would also sign tanaka to as long a contract as I could, which would drive up hs trade value. Especially if he is as good as everyone says he is
  21. Some thoughts on this...I wonder if Mauer and Morneau talked about this before joe said he would do this as this almost guarantees Morneau wont be back. And I wonder if that means AJ might come back and if that happens does Doumit get released
  22. I think the Twins almost HAVE to sign Kazmir. He won't be expensive...per se...and they need a lefthander in the rotation. Im not sold on either Canadian being able to cut it in a lefthander starting role as much as I hope they do. I also would sign Tanaka. Period. He will be expensive. But he wont cost a draft pick and would still be pitching for the next wave. And we could always flip him for prospects down the road unless he really tanked. I would not sign any other pitchers.
  23. I feel that even though Jorge Palonco and and Max Kepler are good prospects they are ranked too high. I felt the Adam Walker and Josmil Pinto should have been ranked higher mayb flip flopped with polonco and Kepler. But that is admittedly bein picky
