  1. We're going to see Graterol on some top 100 lists once he gets a larger sample of innings. His velocity is rare to begin with and his control to go along with it is very special. I wonder where he'd go in the 2018 draft. Top 5 almost certainly.
  2. 1000 ABs for a SS with a 780 ops at AA would be more conservative than I've ever seen a team be with a top 100 prospect.
  3. I actually think there's a lot to be excited about with Jay. Obviously staying on the field is an important skill but he has the results and raw stuff to be a high end bullpen arm.
  4. Bring on Curtiss. He might walk some guys but at least he won't throw frisbees down the middle of the plate.
  5. I hope you're right but he's almost certainly going to get smoked by mlb hitters
  6. Yeah. Rogers has 125 innings with a 3.5 era/3.7 fip. DFAing him would be odd... to put it mildly.
  7. Hopefully a division rival hires him for their analytics department.
  8. I'd rather see John Curtiss get some innings but I don't know that giving Kinley a longer leash than 3 innings is something to be ashamed of necessarily.
  9. If Sano reaches Dunn's production I'll be thrilled. Adam Dunn was significantly more advanced as a hitter than Sano at the same age. A lot more walks, fewer strikeouts. Similar power #s. Sano does have some additional upside on defense though.
  10. Gordon is a really great piece. He projects to be an above average hitting middle inf. Reviews of his defense are mixed but he has the physical tools to be above average at both SS/2nd.I'm really excited to see what happens with him.
  11. I don't put any stock in HR production comparisons across generations. You may but I don't think there's any value to it and projection models don't either. We'll just have to agree to disagree as to the relevance of the earlier #s. Who's betting that he'll decrease his strikeouts enough to have the opportunity to put up big HR #s? If he does that can he ever average more than 120 games per year given his physical makeup and inability to do so at ages 22-24? I'm betting against both laying heavy odds but very much hope I'm wrong.
  12. So when do the home runs start showing up? He's never been even close to leading the league in home runs. Not as a counting stat or a rate stat. The suggestion that he has a real chance at leading the league in home runs is absurd on its face. 30 HR's per 140 games isn't particularly notable in today's game.
  13. That's the problem. He doesn't have that type of power.
  14. He's not going to strike out at 50% forever but does Sano strike you as a player that puts any effort into getting better? The pitchers facing him on the other hand? Watching him bat is my least favorite part of a twins game. He has no discipline whatsoever and he's closing in on 1500 career PAs
  15. No. The Twins will never be a favorite in a playoff game with Milone as the starting pitcher. Every year there are multiple free agents the twins could sign to replace his value. Keeping him in the rotation and leaving May(or anyone with upside) out is quite odd. He's Mr. Irrelevant.
  16. From the twins perspective: They want young fans, they need young fans. Kids taking good memories into adulthood is good for the game's long-term health. Baseball will die the day it becomes unpalatable for young people(game length has been taken seriously for this very reason). If you polled season ticket holders I'd bet the vast majority were brought to significantly more games as children than the average person. Also who wants a baseball game to be boring for kids? Are we all scrooges now? From a lot of adult fans: If your kids can't handle the game, don't bring them. The narcissism of some parents is befuddling. It isn't anyone elses responsibility to entertain your kids. You decided to have them. Why am I expected to sacrifice something for your offspring? When they are crying/yelling/whining/climbing all over the seats it detracts from the experience. Many in this thread have admitted that their kids aren't well behaved at the games, but for some reason they continue to bring them. Not only do they bring them, they demand extra amenities because... the world revolves around their kids! Balancing those 2 ideas is a big challenge and I imagine there were some intense debates regarding how kids fit in with the fan experience at Target Field. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in that room.
  17. I'd bet on Berrios having a lower career fip than Gray 10 years from now and his age fits in nicely with our championship window. Kepler is more of an enigma but being able to play 3 OF positions + 1B and the potential to be a really good hitter makes me want to hold on to him. We need to get a king's ransom to give up those 2 guys together. A no from me.
  18. He's + #s in RF but so would almost everyone else. That's why he has -defensive value #s
  19. I'll take Kepler's production+the money saved over the next 6 years over Puig. I don't really trust the guy. He's a basket-case that can't play defense at 24yo. Kepler is the polar opposite.
  20. I wouldn't trade Kepler for Puig straight up. Why would we give anything of value for him?
  21. Velocity is a readily available stat to find. How many elite pitchers top out at 91? How many really good but not elite pitchers top out at 91? Velocity is king. The Twins clearly don't agree and that's why their K/9 #s have been a laughingstock for 5 years.
  22. "take away the 20-7 May, and the Twins would have finished with around 76 wins." Ok. But why would you take a random 27 games out of the sample? What's the point? Seems try-hard and offers nothing analytical to the discussion. That's not the way data-analysis works in any field, at any level. Again, what's the point?
  23. A 2.6 career war player is your counterpoint? Is my sarcasm meter broken?
