    If I could have double liked this post, I would have. I didn't expect my rookie game thread to make a top 5 list. I should have retired after my rookie thread. There might have been some monetary value. Sort of like Billy Ripken's rookie card being worth quote a bit, due to there being a somewhat naughty word on his bat. Or maybe sorta not.

    I'm home early, waiting for an estimator to show up so my wife and I can part with a good chunk of change to replace a badly poured concrete patio. The added bonus is being home in time to catch the game from the beginning. So, no more talk of this rain stuff. However, since the estimator doesn't seem to think it's necessary to show up, we'll probably go with the first and only quote. I cannot believe how flaky contractors are these days, considering business isn't all that good.

    One of the cardinal rules of baseball: Never trade a position player straight up for a pitcher. I would not have done the Ramos for Capps trade. Too little return for an MLB ready catcher. As for Span, I don't know. Probably not, see the cardinal rule.

    ChiTown, glad I'm not the only one who has a problem with Gomez. I was cool with the trade, though I thought Gomez would develop. However, since then, there is something about Gomez that just rubs me the wrong way.

    The commercial spoof featured someone getting hit in the head with a cupboard door and from there segued into safety and helmets for everyone for every situation. It was a hoot. However, that particular spoof probably goes back 20+ years. I did some searching but cannot find the audio.

    Rush Limbaugh used to run the Spatula City spoof. Joe Soucheray and Garage Logic used to do a parody about helmets and the Helmart Store, if memory serves.
