  1. Peter Gabriel's "Secret World Live" is one of my favorite albums.
  2. You make it sound like they were propositioned on a street corner.
  3. I'll take "How many times has Bert talked about a productive at bat" for $200, Alex.
  4. Minor quibble: We're going on 5 years of Twins tryouts. I wish it was only this season.
  5. I dunno, Nolasco managed some crisply hit balls.
  6. When Molitor made his trip to the mound, I think he forgot that Nolasco was having trouble executing pitches all night.
  7. DFA. DFA 'em all and bring up the Triple A club.
  8. Didn't realize "double play" meant two outs?
  9. I played golf in MN when there was ice on the greens. Interesting trying to putt across a green with a surface that resembled a slushy.
  10. I love the surprise in Dick's voice when the Twins do something right and the utter lack of surprise when something inevitably goes wrong. Comical Bremer beats excitable Bremer.
  11. Just remember what Jack Nicholson said in "The Bucket List." We of the prune juice brigade don't dare let things "sneak out."
  12. Hank Aaron, on golf: “It took me seventeen years to get three thousand hits in baseball. It took one afternoon on the golf course.”
  13. Oh, thank goodness. When I first read "moving" my aged mind thought it was going to be a thread about "movements."
  14. Okay, that was odd. Dozier hit two home runs, one with men on base. A Twins starting pitcher pitched into the 7th without giving up any runs after the Twins scored. Heck, the Twins starter didn't allow any runs. The bullpen did the job. I was watching the Twins, right?
  15. You have opened brand new vistas of ways to deal with telemarketers.
  16. I have to admit, as a computer guy, I love it when the "you've got a problem with your computer" guys call. If I'm in a good mood, I'll play along. It amuses me when they tell me to hit the "window" key to bring up the "run" box...mainly because I run Linux at home. Mom always asks the scammers to tell her what the problem is so she can discuss it with her son, the IT guy. Those calls end quickly.
  17. Ah, so it's not all bad, then.
  18. Regular season 2014: The Yankees were on cruise control and ambushed by the Twins in the top of the 9th inning. Josh Willingham homered to tie the game and the rout was on.
  19. This is where it's weird, because a team can release a player, making him a free agent, yet, the player is still bound by MLB service time rules. I understand he's not good enough to to last in MLB until he reaches free agency, but, you'd think a player would at least be able to cash in a little bit while he can, especially if he was released and therefore free to sign with whomever was willing to take a chance.
  20. Okay, the rules governing free agency for MLB players are rather arcane, to say the least.
  21. Really? But didn't Grossman come to the Twins after opting out of his contract with the Indians? That isn't a free agent signing by the Twins? Or is free agency determined by big league service time?
  22. Just wondering, has something happened to make Nolasco trade worthy? Or will it require the Twins to eat a bunch of salary? Also, I think Grossman should be traded. I don't see Grossman returning to the Twins next year if he keeps producing like he has. I think Grossman hits the FA market and signs elsewhere in the off season.
  23. Fair enough. I'm just getting what looks like too many people who think that had the bullpen issues been addressed, the team would be all wine and roses. I probably would have been one of them, to be honest. Anyway, this season has been a huge learning experience for me when it comes to 40 man roster construction, players development, etc. I was one of those who thought the Twins organization knew what they were doing. Jokes on me.
