  1. I notice Bert avoided going to Detroit the last couple of seasons.
  2. When you look at all the young female star train wrecks of today, it's hard to believe they all have the same thing in common: Disney.
  3. Although, I have to admit, if Boyd actually did this, he's made of sterner stuff than I am. It's somewhat gag inducing to even think of.
  4. Only heathens ruin perfectly good whiskey by putting it on corn flakes.
  5. Fly the Friendly Hostile skies?
  6. Good Job, RB! (but you knew that)

    Ah, Gotcha, see caveat.

It depends, is the team still winning?

I'm going to disagree and think Hughes needs to be on a shorter leash than Meija. I think Hughes doesn't make it deep into the game without Buxton and company. (However, I concede I may be incorrect in thinking Buxton and company did a great job of tracking down some hard hit balls) Anyway, I don't know that the team is playing over its head, simply because it's possible a too many people are overlooking the improved outfield play. Do I think this is a playoff team? No. But, I do believe the Twins are a competitive team. Which is a huge step up.* *caveat: I'm tired and am possibly hallucinating this whole thing.
  10. I'm starting to think the Twins are not a marginal team this year, simply because the outfield looks to be one of the best in the league along with the middle infield being solid. Those two things will make the Twins a club well worth watching this year.

    200:1

Remember, the line will change depending on the amount of money bet on the Twins. The odds will shorten in a hurry if a lot of money is bet on the Twins. I will put money on the Twins when I'm in Laughlin in May. But, I doubt I'll get anything close to 150 to 1.
  12. 5 and 1. The team is beating beatable teams, whereas last year beatable teams were beating the Twins.
  13. I think Buxton did well..probably ate his vegetables just like his mother taught him. Oh, wait, we're not talking about the pre-game meal? Never mind.
  14. If you want to know how Molitor is doing, check out his jaw. If that jaw is moving faster than Hrbek through an all you can eat buffet, you know he's nervous.
  15. I looked up the numbers last year when the Twins started 0-9. The numbers said teams that start 0-9 don't make the playoffs and tend to be bad. And boy was that true!
  16. Now that's a great observation.
  17. The Twins are 5-1 against teams that are supposed to be beatable. Good teams are supposed to beat these teams. Yes, it's early to call this Twins team good or even marginal. The early indications are promising, however.
  18. My fault, I was busy most of the game and the first 4 games I watched from the first pitch.
  19. Two takeaways: One: I can't hate on Mauer any more, after those great catches he made. Two: Kintzler and the team gutted through a game where Kintzler didn't have his best stuff. For whatever reason, in the early season, this team is not the team of last year.
  20. And yet again, teams are pitching to Sano. Wow.
  21. Molitors first year the Twins did well and he didn't know what he was doing. The following year was a massive sophomore slump throughout and Molitor was in the position of trying to win games with a really bad team. This year no one really has any expectations and Molitor may be a bit more relaxed. I have to think that first year set some expectations and the entire organization choked.
  22. I think Bill James did an analysis on sacrifice bunting and came the conclusion it game away more runs than swinging away. (This is wrong but I'll let it stand) Here is a pretty good article on bunting. http://www.billjamesonline.com/stats33/
  23. The Sox throwback uniforms are interesting but they must have been a nightmare for the clubhouse guys. And, people talk a lot about the KC and the lock down bullpen but KC didn't get good until they put together a top flight outfield. It doesn't matter how good the pitching is, if the people in the outfield cannot catch the ball or have no range, it's going to be a long season. The Twins outfield is definitely moving in the right direction.
  24. Oh, I agree. I was just amused at how we fans can change on a dime when it comes to various aspects of the game of baseball.
