  1. How did I miss Radke... I wouldn't go to the Dome if he wasn't pitching for a few years there...
  2. Thanks for the reviews Nick! Very honest and fair assessments of this year. I'd lean A- Santana and C- Santiago or C+ if you look at his whole year and not 3 games towards the end taking bad advice from the new coaches.
  3. I meant to say I missed part or all of three games in 87... games 3, 4, and 5 against the Cards. I was in college (NDSU) and had an evening class. Yeah, that sucked but I was paying too much to skip.
  4. Growing up in Warren Minnesota 6 hours from the cities I was not automatically a fan of Twin Cities teams (Sioux and Bison over Gophers any day. More likely to find the Blue Bombers on TV than the North Stars.) I am 47 so being a youth in the 70's, I leaned more Dodgers than Twins until Kirby won me over. 86 was my first year seriously watching baseball. '87 I watched or listened to every regular season game. That's the only year I have ever done that. Favorite memories? First game (first time to Minneapolis) June 87. Nosebleed seats but we won despite Bruno striking out with bases loaded (Puckett, Hrbek, Gaeti on base) in the 12th. Both World Series. Thome and the flag pole. Chatting with Terry Ryan at a Spring Training game. (Really humble down to Earth guy. Wish he'd done a better job) 3rd row scalped ticket to watch Arcia's first HR on snow day in May Favorite players: Puckett Gladden Viola Berenguer Peirzinsky Mientkeweicz Larkin Koskie Morneau Arcia Buxton I've been following TD from the beginning but don't know when I started speaking up. I am all geeked out on MiLB and the Twins. Love going to Cedar Rapids. To me, TD is the best source of the info I enjoy so I am on here multiple times a day. It's my hobby bordering on obsession.
  5. Nit picking the Ryan GM bright spot comment... Don't forget Nunez. As for others nit picking grades, the hard part is averaging out Offense vs defense and all of that vs the rest of MLB. Then there is grading based on where they are at in development. So, vs the rest of MLB defensively where do you rank Buxton? That raises his grade significantly. Vs the rest of this teams OPS and OBP, where is Grossman ranked? That raises his grade despite the awful defense. Not comparing him to Big Papi, but he was on teams Solely for Offense. We did the same for Nunez didn't we? Discussing these young players offensively, I never expect MLB rookies or sophomores to be fully MLB ready. They always have slumps and figuring it out time. Year three to me is when I start expecting consistency and when I start to think we know what we have. That said, Buxton is following his pattern he has shown at every level. He's adjusted slower to MLB but he has also been jerked around more. Kepler will need to make a sophomore adjustment as pitchers obviously adjusted to him already. I think he will be fine...by June or July. This is Rosarios make or break year for me but I have a lot of hope for him. Santana needs to go, I'm done. Grossman, I hope he can get hot and can be Nunezed for a low A lotto ticket to some desperate team that doesn't care about defense
  6. Poison: Every Rose Has Its Thorn At least some TD posters dissatisfied no matter the outcome
  7. Generous on who? These sound mostly fair to me though I think I'd give Sano a C based on defense pulling down that offensive B-. I think we want to grade the offence worse than we should as a whole based on the record where as we had an OK offence with terrible pitching.
  8. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/minnesota-twins Nats part of this definitely sounding like spin. Would cards or Giants have interest in Santana and could Santana be part of a " creative" trade? Just me wondering out loud but too lazy tonight to look at rosters...
  9. Very well stated! Who knew Dozier would hit 20+ home runs repeatedly? 42? Saying Ugh about having the same core hitters in 3 years is forgetting the growth potential of Rosario, Buxton, Sano, Kepler, and Polanco. Some may not grow into that potential. Rosario could be a Cuddyer type player. Buxton could become Delmon Young. (Yes I vommitted in my mouth saying that) Wade might not make the majors but I am inclined to bet on him. We really just don't know though and no amount of analytics can 100% forecast any of it.
  10. I am not sure why that post has "On my way!" In the middle of what I was trying to say. I wasn't even using voice to text... My IPad is haunted
  11. I could see Rortverdt, Diaz, and Kiriloff playing On my way! In the Majors in 2020 but they may be guys that have to push their way in during that season some time after the start of the year...
  12. Some of the names posters have included above would have to move quite aggressively so... Trying to be realistic first name is starter, second back-up. Here is my 25 man roster prediction: C Garver/Castro 1B Palka/Vargas 2B Polanco/Vielma SS Gordon/Vielma 3B Sano/Polanco (Vielma at second) LF Wade/Rosario CF Buxton/Granite RF Kepler/Wade (Rosario in LF) SP DeLeon/Berrios/Gonsalves/R. Rosario/May RP Chargios/Haley/Light/Melotakis/Stewart/Burdi Closer Jay
  13. Thank you for sharing those as well.. I guess Those would be better than the mid season top 30 I put up but I don't think we will get more than DeLeon and Alvarez off those lists unless Alvarez is removed from the trade and replaced by another. I was more searching for opinions on prospects 31-100 that would make up a desired 3rd or 4th. I would consider a lottery ticket SS or C or a close outfielder that would be an upgrade over what we already have... Don't know if that exists but who is the 3rd/4th we are after?
  14. So I decided to do a quick search and found this list of top 100 Dodgers prospects from March of last year. I Would love to see a more recent list to peruse but despite all the posts to this subject, no-one else has thrown up an easy link. So, peruse this list and tell me who you would want? http://dodgersdigest.com/2016/03/08/2016-dodgers-top-100-prospects-the-top-10/ or use this list of mid season top 30. I just don't know if the dodgers are going to give up a third top 30 though... http://dodgersdigest.com/2016/07/11/2016-dodgers-prospects-midseason-top-30-update/
  15. Jason Marquis Career ERA 4.54 K/9 5.4. K/W 1.54 Twins ERA 8.43 K/9 3.2. K/W 0.86
  16. What inning is it? Who's the opponent? Is that.... Falvey on the mound?
  17. Sounds like the deal is alive but the Dodgers may be playing hardball with their offer and the Twins may be trying to get just a little more than the Dodgers are willing to give. That's my "reading into" the rumors moment. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/12/brian-dozier-trade-rumors-dodgers-twins.html
  18. And, btw, thank you Seth! Very enjoyable analysis
  19. First, let's examine the OP: this was an examination of scouting talent. Whether a guy is signed or not , developed properly, or coached right was not the question. We all know our analytics has been archaic in comparison. That's not the scouting departments fault. The FO and international spending was not the topic. Scouting. Secondly let's look honestly at what Seth said... Average or Mediocre. That's not a ringing endorsement. I would hope that a front office would keep track of grades given by scouts and then how those played out when THEY judge their own scouting departments because there is also a difference between what a scout says and who is drafted by the guru in charge. Without knowing those grades it is very difficult to judge the scouting department
  20. Here's my guess on the hold up: 40 man roster. If you trade one guy for 4 and 3 of those 4 are on LAD's 40, you need to cut 3. I see some that could be cut so not a huge issue but if there is another percolating trade that brings back fewer 40 man guys, maybe deal two happens before deal one...
  21. I think they all have their Niche within the market. I think my favourite this week is DaveW but last month it was Seth. Sometimes I also favour Gleeman or Warne. Thrylos just bugs me like an itchy wool blanket that is the only thing that actually keeps me warm at night. Interpret that any way you want.
  22. Dog
  23. SO at this point if the trade happens is DaveW correct on calling the trade because he called the trade a done deal or is it a fail on his part for saying it was going to be within 24 hours almost 48 hours ago?
