    Some teams are better than their records, other teams are worse than their records. This Twins team, however, deserves to be exactly where they're at. They aren't Rockies or White Sox level bad, but they're in that next tier of very bad teams. Pirates, Angels, Marlins, Twins. The lifeless bats this year are impossible to watch, I'd rather see them lose 11-8 every day then have to be forced to watch crap like this day in and day out.

    Crafty lefthander against the Twins? Yeekzers. But you know what they say, that's why they play the game. Side note: looking at Buxton's numbers in the graphic above....wow. Not too shabby.

    Just saw that. Happy as I had the Miami starter on my fantasy lineup, now he at least won't be getting tagged with the loss.

    After that first win, Rocco put everyone on the shelf. He's happy leaving town with 1 of 3, with him he always wants to use as little resources as possible. Never empties the tank on anyone, never goes for the jugular.

    So glad the Twins went out and got Kody Clemens and his .199 career average bat - that's exactly the kind of addition this team needed. This team certainly hasn't had any trouble getting hits or scoring runs, no siree.

    Correct. Twins never pile on after scoring early, it's almost as if they refuse.

    Varland fooling nobody tonight - starting to feel like that Astros game.... Twins may need more than 9 here.

    The difference gap between Kiersey and Keaschall is very apparent and should be all the Twins need to send Kiersey back to St. Paul as soon as we've got a warm body ready to replace him.

    Exactly. I'm always baffled at fans attacking Twins pitchers this season. Aside from Jax, there really isn't anyone that's been downright terrible. The bats on the other hand have been lifeless, and offensive execution has been atrocious. When the Twins have a man on 2nd and 0 outs, nobody here is surprised when he never gets moved over to 3rd before the end of the inning. Go to a JV baseball game in Brainerd, you'll see better hitting fundamentals.

    The Twins have now trailed in each of these 3 home games against the White Sox. Minnesota has needed big plays in late innings to escape by the skin of their teeth in the first two. These teams are a lot more evenly matched than we want to admit. And one thing's for sure: both are bad.

    Half of the Twins wins this season have come against this historically bad White Sox team. And even these games aren't easy. Keaschall and Royce Lewis would be nice to see together in the infield for a full season. I don't think this series has changed any of our minds about how lifeless and overmatched this Twins team has been this season. We'll absolutely take these wins...nothing less than a sweep will be acceptable here. Angels coming in tomorrow hovering around .500 look very much like the better team. Twins need to take that series to keep any hope of a successful season alive.

    Maybe you were basing your feelings on Jax's 6+ ERA his first year with the club in 2021, or his 4+ lifetime ERA? There's a lot of luck involved in baseball. Jax had his fair share of luck the past 2 years. Now he's been a bit more unlucky. But - despite what some Twins fans have been desperate to convince you of - he's not a dominant or intimidating late inning guy - and never has been.

    Yeah, the Astros game was just a cold dose of reality and should have shocked some urgency into this team. Clearly they've learned nothing since that game. I can't imagine many fans feel remotely hopeful about this season after tonight.

    Unforgiveable considering the spark and fire shown in this game with Keaschall performing well on national TV. A 3rd straight win could have turned things around. You can't throw away games like this, they just break a team. Another example by the way of the Twins giving away at bats late in a game they seem to have thought they'd wrapped up. That awful Astros game they stopped trying when they were up 7-1 and it came back and bit them, too. Blow it up. More Keaschall, less everyone else.

    Unreal choke job. I've never been a "fire Rocco" guy but being a "player's manager" really hurts sometimes when he sticks with his guys who are struggling to show loyalty. There are 24 other guys in that locker room, Rocco. Blowing this game to prove a point to a struggling middle reliever is not going to win you any favors. We're looking at a series sweep, this is just a BRUTAL loss.

    Jax regressing HARD. Either the book's out on him or the guy's lost it, either way he shouldn't be throwing in the 8th inning anymore. Guy's absolute trash.

    Regarding Jax, this isn't a "slow start". This is him "regressing to the norm". He's got a 4.00 ERA in his career, has proven to be serviceable but not dominant, overall an average to below-average MLB reliever. He's not Trevor Hoffman. He's a guy who'll probably float around to a few different teams in the next couple years before hanging up his cleats after 6 months on the Pirates AAA team. Expecting him to be a dominant setup man? That's just naive. Sure hope Falvey didn't bank on Jax being a key part of the late innings bullpen this year.
