  1. It's a late round pick pitching like a late round pick, there is no mystery here. The Twins think they are smarter than everyone else and can turn guys into aces by adding a couple ticks of velo. Meanwhile other teams are taking SEC/Big 12/ACC/top high school pitching early and often and aren't starting 3 rookies in a wild card race.
  2. Pitching costs a premium, and especially guys who can miss bats. The fact is, ownership won't pay up in free agency, the front office won't pay up in the trade market, and they take 1 pitcher in the first 6 rounds of the draft this year, and this is what you get. A bunch of guys like Zebby, SWR, and Festa that have good or bad outings depending on how their BABIP luck goes that day.
  3. Just frustrating man...these guys like Festa and Matthews are late round picks for a reason. Maybe want to start drafting some pitchers early instead of 90% position players in rounds 1-10?
  4. How to get a low walk rate like Zebby Matthews: Step 1: Throw a lot of uncompetitive pitches and fall behind in counts Step 2: Throw a meatball and watch it get hit into the seats Step 3: Maintain low walk rate and illusion of "good command"
  5. Yeah sure, let's leave the opposite side of the infield open when we're calling pitches down and away.
  6. One mistake pitch from Pablo and the game is over with this lineup.
  7. Miranda is just brutal at the plate nowadays. The expected stats never backed up the nuclear streak he had earlier this year.
  8. Duran postgame quote from last night: “I’m a pitcher, and sometimes you can have a day like that. It’s not like every day you throw good, you know? Mariano Rivera is one of the best closers in the game. He had one bad year. Why can’t I have one?” Comes off terribly. Just about the opposite of what you should say.
  9. Any booing at TF? Big market teams wouldn't let this slide.
  10. They'll limp in as a wild card, but the only thing to find out over the next month is whether the season ends in Houston, New York, or Baltimore.
  11. The Twins are now an even .500 (61-61) in non-White Sox games. This is a mediocre team that beat up on the worst baseball team in history for 13 games.
  12. Professional AB from Ozuna. Any one of our guys would have flailed at one of those 4 balls guaranteed.
  13. This is still not a good position to be in. 3 inning game against a much more fundamentally sound team.
  14. Don't worry Rocco wrote "stay hungry" on the whiteboard, everything is fine
  15. Good god the lineup is horrible tonight.
  16. What are we thinking Rocco. Margot leadoff and Farmer in the 5 hole tomorrow? Sounds good!
  17. Man the Royals. Just once would I love to see the Twins go into a big series and take care of business like they are. They've done a lot more to earn the division than us.
  18. Only upside to this is that the 6 seed is a better draw than the 5 seed but won't matter if they don't get it together.
  19. He has nothing that moves laterally. It's real easy for hitters to identify high - let it fly, low - let it go
  20. Should have sold high on Duran. He's just not a good pitcher. Gets by purely on stuff. Watch Clase and you'll see a guy who can actually locate and keep hitters off balance.
  21. Duran needs a slider, cutter, something that moves laterally. Hitters only looking high/low makes it way too easy.
  22. Don't worry, we get Kyle Farmer and Manuel Margot in the lineup against Chris Sale tomorrow.
  23. Duran shouldn't be this hittable. Extremely disappointing season from him.
  24. Good news everyone, David "1 time through the order" Festa lines up against NL Cy Young Favorite Chris Sale on Wednesday
  25. Don't think they restart games anymore, the score would hold and they play on from the time of postponement. Either way, the game is over. If the team can't get ready to play a normal game, they're not stepping up for a postponed shortened one.
