  1. Are you saying she does not unwind at the end of the day relaxing while reading your TwinsDaily posts appreciating your wit and way with words in regards to both baseball and numerous other topics?
  2. "In that darkness the White Walkers came for the first time. They swept through cities and kingdoms, riding their dead horses, hunting with their packs of pale spiders big as hounds." They actually sound like they could be a pretty formidable team. I know some people want more attitude - the Twins finding their inner-white walker might help create that.
  3. Very cool. Any of our more veteran posters remember seeing this in the theater?
  4. I used to listen to this, and if I remember correctly Morris had no qualms about being honest out the flaws of the team which I lked. The biggest issue I had, and this is not Jack's fault, is that it seemed like every caller or guest had to bring up Morris's World Series performance. It was a significant portion of Twins history and definitely is worthy of discussion, but it seemed like it came up with every discussion of a poor pitching performance (which were not uncommon that year). Again, not Jack's fault, and I like the acknowledgement of the history, but it seemed like it came up a couple of times an hour. "Jack, I know you would have pitched a full game today..." Obviously the World Series were great, and love hearing the stories, but it does seem if a player from one of those teams is in the booth, even regularily, they have to be praised at least once for their play during that time (sometimes with some very rose colored glasses). Just a petty nitpick, in general I love how the former players are still involved with the team and how the history is acknowledged and respected.
  5. Just for that, I kind of hope Maria fell off the mountain on Friday.
  6. I can only imagine some of the internet comments about him right now. I am going to be glass half full and hope it is just a normal back spasm triggered by an erratic week of playing and then three quick games in cold weather and that it is nothing than a minor inconvenience for a day or two. This team does seem to have something they have not have had in a few years. Not talent necessarily, but able to do more with what they have. And more determination to stay in the game when things go wrong.
  7. Are you saying we have a weak bench or that you are over 500 pounds?
  8. Sad comment on how the Twins have played this week (or I guess the last 1.5 days, which seemed like a week) when singing Nazis and rogue nuns are a needed break.
  9. He kind of sounds like he could be a White Sox fan -- kind of has that feral White Sox look as well. I should go take advantage of the weather and take my non-cat pet for a walk. She has never attacked any senior citizens as a holiday gift.
  10. It is going to be kind of quiet around here once Riverbrian's wife decides if she wants to put him in a home or a farm or a shoe box. Hopefully she will at least wait until the All-Star Break.
  11. I guess you better hope for that and not a fate like Gibby's rat. WIN!!!!!!!
  12. Somehow I imagining this said in the same way Seinfeld used to say "Neuman!"
  13. I remember they used to serve this at the dome.
  14. I will be honest, I did not think I would be seeing these types of statements a month ago. I suppose better baseball minds than mine would have looked at the line-up on paper and watched the spring training performances and said, this team is going to produce runs.
  15. Toronto really seemed to want to give us this game on a silver platter, but I still think last year we would had no thanks and lost anyways. While I am not ordering my World Series tickets yet, and there will be some ugly games ahead, there does seem to be a different feel to the team.
  16. It really does not even need to be said --- Battling their tails off.
  17. Pitchers fear the line-up and are pitching around them? I am going to wait a little longer before being paranoid about Mauer.
  18. I am going under, but am more hopeful than I was a few weeks ago. I think something like 75 and 87 compared to the 5 and 157 I was thinking at my deepest moments of negativity and despair. I think they will be more entertaining and already seem to be setting a trend of some strange game endings. While I think there will be moments (or weeks) of frustration, I don't think they will be boring and will be a bit unpredictable.
  19. Great now I have "Bright Side of Life" going through my head. I guess that is semi-appropriate with Good Friday next week.
  20. Is this heaven? No its TwinsDaily (I might not be remembering it correctly.) (I will banish myself for the rest of the night because of this post.)
  21. Note to self -- in order to achieve my goal of being an efficient TwinsDaily poster, not only need to brush up on baseball stats, but movie quotes . . .
  22. This thread really shows how you can dissect hitter in a multitude of ways and 1,000,000 different stats that can be looked used in a baseball argument. I am a bit in awe of people's passion to continue their debate and coming up with new numbers and statistics (although I think I would be scared to meet some of you in a dark alley, esp. if you were armed with a calculator). I also suspect some of you are going to have to agree to disagree.
  23. Joe might not be overly vocal or mentor Torii Hunter style, but I don't think he is a nonpresence either. I heard one of the players interviewed (I think during Twinsfest) and he was asked if they thought without catching if Joe would be around more, and he replied that Joe has always been approachable and felt like he could ask him advice anytime. There was also an interview a couple of years ago where someone was watching behind the scenes and observed Joe (he did it discretely away from most of the the media) pull a visiting Buxton aside and help him out and give him some encouragement.
  24. I know he gets criticized for being unemotional, but I would think this is one time where it was important for him to remain calm and cool and not let his emotions get to him, since he had to immediately go to bat again - where he did get another hit.
  25. Randball had a column a year or two ago that was basically Mauer -- most controversial non-controversial figure, or most interesting boring guy (or something like that). This thread reflects that a bit. He does generate a bit of discussion. Still, even though things got a little heated at times, I suspect things could have gotten really ugly on this topic on other forums. Kudos for no complete meltdown by anyone.
