  1. Baseball really does have some of the greatest minds (same with its fans - as evidenced by the postings on this board).
  2. I know this is probably a lazy response, but while I think Mauer should swing more at the first pitch - I think him not hitting once he falls behind is just a symptom of the problem. While he was striking out more last year, he still was hitting well when he was behind 0-2. I don't think between August and now pitchers figured him out after studying him for ten years. And he has always done well against NL pitching. One difference since last August is that he experienced concussion symptoms - some severe for three months. You have to wonder if that is part of the equation. Look at Justin -- it took him three years to seem to snap out of it (although change of scenery could be part of that). The back could also be an issue, because he did seem to be coming around right before that acted up. I kind of wonder if they should have just put him on the DL and given it a good two weeks to heal. I just have to think his drop-off is due to something more than pitchers figuring him out after ten years.
  3. Plus Lily had been with Moses and messing around with her you might be in danger of getting smited. That could explain a few things about Herman.
  4. So instead of debating Ginger vs. Mary Ann -- did you ponder Morticia vs Lily?
  5. There were a couple of other things the episodes revolved around, at least during the Suzanne Sommer era (besides good layered writing and some fine subtle acting).
  6. I actually read it that way for a long time as well. I suppose it is only natural to see the word brain after reading his well-constructed essay style game thread starter posts as well as his shorter observations... or something like that...
  7. You have obviously angered some sports god at some point. Have you attended most of the Wolves lottery/draft functions, the infamous Vikings/New Orleans title game, the 1998-99 Vkings/Falcons game? It would explain a few things. I say 6 and 8. I think they have been playing a little better than they are, but there are legitiamte improvements. I think they are moving in the right direction. I like how they have come back late in a number of games - not giving up.
  8. This must be connected to those 12 oz curls mentioned earlier.
  9. I hope the late time of the game, esp. the later innings, does not effect the sharp, on-point, baseball analysis that are trademarks of the game threads. I have confidence people will be focused enough that they won't go off on tangets because they are a little tired.
  10. Really - with the butterfly effect on things - if the Twins would have kept Ortiz, things might have changed in the timelne so that they would neve have gotten Hicks and we never would have won this game. Sometimes things work out they way they are suppose to work.
  11. Things would make so much more sense if it was the other way.
  12. He is a decent outfielder and not a bad hitter, but he is no short-stop outfielder, so I would pass.
  13. Has the theme ever been the game?
  14. Just the fact that this is a legitimate sentence....
  15. This is controversial, because many people do not think it should have been excluded from the official cannon by the Council of Cooperstown - that it better reflects the spirit of Abner Doublesday than some of the official cannon. This can be a controversial topic, although while not perfect, this board handles stuff like this better than others. I have heard Dozier mention his faith in passing before. It seems to be a sincere part of who he is, and when he has mentioned it, it has seemed to have been an organic part of the conversation and not something he is forcing into it. At this article he was speaking at an event where this was the subject matter. I don't think Dozier is going to be causing any problems unless all of a sudden his baseball skills plummet.
  16. Wow - the first time they have beat Verlander in four years.
  17. If I remember correctly, your name is not short for Chisago Lakes Town Twins Fan is it?
  18. This is the kind of top-notch game analysis that really makes this board stand out.
  19. As much as I have enjoyed the culinary discussion - good to see a hit and some RBIs break up the off-topic conversation a little. Zuk!
  20. Home and hungry and now really craving a ribeye which will probably not magically appear in my sad fridge.
  21. When you are secure in your athletic gifts and baseball artistry, you don't need to acknowledge the foolish insults of jealous message board posters. Unlike Jacque Fat Foot Jones. I am not a fan of two out hits.
  22. It could still happen. Gardy and I have been talking. You can't have too many scrappy veterans on the team to help with clubhouse chemistry. I think this movement or bringing back wiley veterans who know how to play the game the right way might be very beneficial to restarting my career. If it works out, one of the few negatives is that I probably won't have as much time to read this board.
  23. Have there been any updates on how he is doing or where he is at in regards to treatment? I don't think I have heard anything about him in awhile.
