  1. For a post decrying negativity and fault finding, your post sure has a lot of negativity and fault finding.
  2. The guys who made the decision on Walker were not even hired at that time. You are suggesting 1 of 2 things, both of which are disturbing. Either the Twins used a time machine or psychic to consult Falvey and Levine regarding Walker in September. Or Or, Falvey and Levine are just puppets and are not actually making any decisions.
  3. Just about every team's arbitration list is back of the roster guys. If you are a player every team would want, you get a contract extension before, or shortly into arbitration years.
  4. You say we need more healthy players, but you don't like the DL going down to 10 games? Curious your reasoning for that.
  5. I dunno. I think this is an example of the home fans over rating the talent (not just you). They actually are consistent- they are losing consistently. I'd expect a talented but inconsistent team to be around .500. We have a few pieces, but the good teams have depth. You are right, our bench is awful. The good teams also have 2 way players. Aside from KAT, I don't think we have another 2 way player on the team. If Dieng is more than talented enough to be a starting C in this league then shouldn't we be getting phone calls on him every day? Maybe they are and are convinced he can be an asset at the 4. I don't have the answers, I'm just saying that KAT takes the losing exceptionally hard. Look at his comments in the Strib and his absolutely dejected look after last night's game. The window before he needs to be re signed is closing by the day, and this team appears to need a lot of work before it's even a fringe 8 seed.
  6. KAT takes losing hard. Better surround him with some talent if you want him to stick around long term.
  7. No, I didn't say they should have done it by now. I must have misunderstood you. I thought you meant it would be unrealistic to do it this offseason. I belive the subject you responded to was how do you feel if this ends up being the biggest move of the offseason.
  8. I'd say this is a pretty damning indictment on the previous regime if none of the veterans we already have are leaders. Not that they needed any more damning indictments.
  9. I guess I don't even understand what you are getting at here. Are you saying that figuring out Dozier and/or Santana's trade value is something that takes more than one offseason to do? There isn't much unknown about those 2 guys, and both Falvey and Levine come from other MLB front offices so they would be pretty familiar with prospects around the league as well. I don't see how these two have much, if any, disadvantage attempting to trade one of those players, compared to if they'd been here 10 years.
  10. Perhaps it was poorly worded. I didn't mean that they can't or shouldn't work to negotiate better pay and benefits, or whatever else they want to try to get. I doubt this issue we are discussing would be anywhere near the top of the list of things they'd like to negotiate. Moving around is a fundamental part of minor league baseball. It's not a rare or unusual circumstance like it would be if you worked at say a bank or something. Every time these guys get promoted or demoted they have to move. This is something so fundamental that it would have to have been a consideration of pursuing this profession.
  11. Speaking of false equivalency. Comparing basic humane working conditions with having to move once every 5 or 6 years, with the upside of making more money than my entire family tree will make in all their lifetimes.
  12. Berrios and Kepler were 2 of our top prospects, and Berrios might be our most important one. I'm curious what makes you say they don't matter to winning? I mean if you trade Berrios, we are going to be in a pretty ugly spot pitching wise in 3 years, especially if Jay doesn't work out. You'd have what, Gonsalves as a 3 hopefully, then hoping Romero and Thorpe both hit their absolute ceiling?
  13. It always blows my mind when people who don't need the money decide to basically work for life. I mean, obviously they love the work or are addicted to it, but man, I'd be living out my days on the beach if I were in Terry's shoes.
  14. Maybe corner IF and DH. I wouldn't say we are crowded at corner OF. We are already starting an ideal 4th OF in left because we don't have a better option of yet.
  15. The person above me said forced. Imagine if you knew that was not only a possibility, but extremely likely when you accepted that job. I mean come on, it's part of the job. You can't compare one specific issue with one profession to every other profession. That would be like saying (of firefighters), imagine if your boss forced you to go into a burning building to keep your job. It's silly. People weigh the pros and cons before they go into a profession. Each one has its own set of each. You don't get to accept the likely cons of your chosen profession, and then complain when one comes up.
  16. "Forced to become an indentured servant." Wow. Did they waterboard him, or abduct him at gunpoint? Thousands of people use their lifelong baseball training to get a scholarship, then get a degree and a good career. Walker chose to keep pursuing baseball. Nobody forced him to do anything.
  17. I think they cut Walker loose because he just wasn't figuring it out, is probably 1% to ever be a mlb player, and they wanted that 40 man spot. They have an opening in the OF so I don't think it was because of position.
  18. His contract is not prohibitive at all. It's basically a wash with Dozier's- who would be leaving in this deal.
  19. Napoli will have no trade value at the deadline. How often do DH's get moved at the deadline? He was a 1 WAR player last season, and I can't see him improving on that. And his age and K rate make him a big time regression candidate.
  20. Puig is the definition of a lottery ticket. I'd absolutely take him back as long as it's a toss in and not a main piece. There really is no risk on a 103 loss team.
  21. 1)That is the job he signed up for. When you enter a career field you weigh all the pros and cons and decide if you want to pursue it. Moving around the country is a huge part of milb life. Even if you don't change teams you move every time you are promoted or demoted. 2) Why would he have moved during the offseason, knowing full well that Milwaukee was fairly likely to try to run him through waivers again? That would make no sense. Even if he's waived by 12 different teams this offseason it isn't going to affect his life any more than 1 team waiving him.
  22. This would restrict player movement though. Nobody is claiming a guy like Walker if they have to carry him until Spring, nobody. That is far too restrictive. Teams need flexibility during the offseason with those last few 40 man spots. This would allow teams to remove all these fringe guys at this time of year, with zero worry of losing them. I just don't really see an issue with the current process.
  23. I get not burning it down and starting over, but isn't there some middle ground there? Bruno and Jerry White, those are the only guys in the entire organization that Levine and Falvey have cut loose, am I correct? I guess I figured that as completely awful as this organization has been the last 6 years, there might have been at least a few guys in the milb/scouting/training/analytics that haven't been getting the job done. Now, of course, I'm not bailing. I still have high hopes for these guys and faith. But I'm definitely viewing them a bit more suspiciously than I was the day they were introduced. If the idea is to take a year to familiarize themselves with everyone before making any firings, then I can accept that, but I hope that the people here who are expecting is to compete in the next 2 years realize that that essentially pushes the pause button for a full year. I'm OK with that, I can accept the long view (if it works), but I know there are a few here who aren't going to be happy if it's a 4 or 5 year project.
  24. On the bright side, LaVine continues to look like a real quality player.
  25. The players can negotiate that into the CBA if it's important to them. The league isn't going to give it to them for nothing. Fringe guys like Walker should be celebrating the extra money they made while on the 40 man, not complaining that they don't get severance once they are off.
