  1. You are right, that guys like that who can stick at SS are very valuable. I think that is your answer right there. The fact he's falling on spec lists tells me that there are doubts in the industry about his ability to stick at SS.
  2. Keenum does not have a laser arm. He's found other tools that have kept him in the league, but arm strength is probably his weakest attribute. It's why he was never given a real shot, despite breaking all the NCAA records.
  3. I can't disagree with any of that. I'd add another safety. My dream is a replacement for Sendejo, but others don't think that's likely. So, I'll settle for someone good enough (Not the Harris/Kearse of the world) to be able to step in for injuries, and to take over when Sendejo does leave. Wouldn't mind a better kicker and a more dynamic returner as well.
  4. The comment you quoted isn't in regard to them being a SB caliber defense. Smith and Rhodes are future HOF, in their prime, and top 2 or 3 in the NFL at their positions. If the other half of your secondary are both "really good" as you say, then they should have one of the, if not the best pass defense in the history of the league. You replied that they do. They don't. They don't even have the best pass defense this year. You can't be the best of all time, if you're not even the best of this season. With Waynes, I could see a big contract down the line from us or someone else. He's improving, and quality cornerbacks are hard to find. But if someone ever gives Sendejo a mega contract reflective of a really good player, I'll eat my hat. I just don't buy it. What does he do so well? It certainly isn't tackling, he's atrocious in that regard.
  5. You have to be inducted to be in. Induction does not just mean ceremony. Induction is the process of officially adding an electee to the hall. He's not in the Twins HOF.
  6. They didn't even have the best pass defense THIS YEAR. The Jags did, and by a healthy margin too.
  7. You may be right, we'll see. Smith and Rhodes are both future HOF, so if Sendejo and Waynes are as great as you suggest, then it seems like we should have a historically good pass defense, and it shouldn't matter what our offense is doing.
  8. Well to my eye, Kendricks gets the credit for that. He's a beast. I don't see what you do regarding Barr. I see him out of position all the time. I also don't think it's fair to discount the splash plays. Splash plays matter too. They change games. A couple splash plays early on defense might have changed the tone of this game. I admitted that Waynes improved, and maybe he'll continue to. I just don't agree that he was really good, only compared to how bad he was last year at times. I don't think he's a bad corner, just think this team would be a lot better if he was covering the third option instead of the second. You didn't address Sendejo, but I think he's awful, and I think that'll be one of the first positions they upgrade this off-season. And I predict that Sendejo will struggle to make a 53 man roster as a special team/ depth contributor.
  9. I think we need to separate talent from results. They don't always match. I do think this team is far more talented. On just "talent" alone, I see very few weak spots in this roster. Super talented guys all over the place. But, you are right, they've accomplished almost nothing. Zimmer has exactly one playoff win, and he needed a historically improbable miracle to get that one win. And we have local media that rave about him like he's brought us multiple parades or something. I've always found that weird. I don't mind Zimmer at all, but he's accomplished zilch as a head coach. This is a completely underachieving roster/ team. I just wonder how many years we will find some excuse for why it's acceptable for all this talent and these supposedly good coaches to achieve nothing in the postseason.
  10. I get that, but one bad game is all it takes to end your season. So, playoffs are often going to end from one bad game. The playoffs are not the same as the regular season, IMO. The other side of the coin is that you risk not reacting at all. I think it would be a mistake for the FO to conclude that there is no evaluation to be taken away from these last 2 games. Maybe they bring back the same defense, and next year they lock it down in the playoffs. Could happen. I'll be the first one in here to say I was wrong and give all kinds of credit if it happens.
  11. Well I'm sorry that opinions can be "mistaken". I certainly wouldn't say that about another posters opinions, but whatever. I don't get paid to evaluate players, so I don't really care if my opinions on specific players are accurate or not. The only thing I care is that the people in the organization who do get paid to evaluate the players get it straightened out. This self evidently isn't a SB caliber defense. A great regular season defense sure, but clearly not even close to competing deep into the playoffs. I agree with the poster above who thinks this can't just be casually dismissed as some random anomaly. Others disagree, that's fine. I'm not trying to disparage that opinion, I just don't feel the same way. Barr disappeared today, Waynes was awful, and the pass rush was non-existent, so I disagree that those points only regarded the 16 regular season games. Yes, so did most others, but i was asked specifically if that means blow it all up, and I don't think that's realistic, so I chose the players who I thought were the worst offenders.
  12. Well unfortunately, the SB isn't played in the first 16 weeks.
  13. Should have been more specific. Declines to talk to Fox.
  14. Zimmer declines to talk to the media. Way to stand up and face the music. Embarassing. He seemed more than happy to talk to the media last week after a win.
  15. I'm not necessarily proposing anything. Just stating my opinion that this isn't a SB caliber defense. I don't accept that it's ordinary for a supposedly elite defense to be this awful once the postseason comes. In fact, I'd bet my life savings that Nick Foles won't carve up the Patriots defense like this in 2 weeks, and they have less talent than the Vikings defense does. Talent alone only gets you so far. Some guys have too much pride to play this far below their talent level on the biggest stage. Some coaches wouldn't accept it. As for changes? I'd start by upgrading the other safety spot. Sendejo misses far too many routine tackles for me. I'd let Barr walk too, before he gets expensive. One of the more overrated players, IMO. He was a beast his first 2 years. Then, I don't know if injuries, or complacency, or both got him, but he's an ordinary player now. I'd like to see them add a second good CB. I actually thought Waynes improved this year, but I'm still not sure he's an every snap caliber corner. And, Alexander is awful. He'll be out of football shortly. Adding another good CB would allow Waynes to take Alexander's snaps. Finally, I'd try to add a pass rush threat on the interior of the line. We all hoped Floyd would have been that guy, but that ship sailed a long time ago. Griffen is great, Hunter has talent, but disappears for long stretches. More pressure up the middle would take some pressure off those two guys. Finally, and I can't know who from the outside, but some of these guys clearly quit, and/ or didn't show up at all today. I'd think the coaching staff knows who those guys are, and I hope they have the guts to move a talented player or two if they know they quit in big games.
  16. This is a far more talented team though. That's why it's so disappointing.
  17. Laying an egg in the playoffs means you go home. It's not acceptable to me that they laid an egg. And, it's not just tonight. This is an almost exact continuation of the second half last week. Elite defenses don't lay an egg in the postseason. 13-3 just doesn't do anything for me, nothing at all. I look at regular season like the qualifiers leading up to the Olympics. Sure, you have to do well to get in, but nobody knows Michael Phelps name if he just has a bunch of awesome qualifiers and does nothing when it matters. That's just me. I realize many don't agree. Been down this road before. Zero disrespect for those who enjoy the regular season results.
  18. I'm not sure. I'll be interested when the updated lists start to post. I think there could be significant separation between those two when they do.
  19. Agree to disagree. Well, let me rephrase that to, it depends what is acceptable to a person. For those who enjoy a nice regular season, okay fine. To me, regular season is just seeding purposes for the playoffs. These are the games that matter, and they couldn't be bothered to even show up. And they quit halfway last week. Needed a miracle that you'll never see again to get bailed out. The real elite defenses make their mark in the postseason.
  20. That assumes the defense puts up zeros, they are clearly outmatched. Even with TD's they'd need to win a 49-45 type game. Any drive with less than a TD was game over. Just my opinion of course. And, it isn't going to matter either way.
  21. 1) I agree. But, 2) I'm not sure we'd be in this game if we had Tom Brady. This team needs a lot more than just a QB.
  22. Or, get a QB who can get it within 10 feet of the guy who is wide open on third down. Not sure 3 points does anything for us there. Pretty much have to get 7 there to even have a chance.
  23. Well yeah, of course. But every team spends one day watching film of the last game, every week. How else do you learn from your mistakes?
  24. And don't forget the DBacks open rebellion in Green Bay at the end of last year. This is going nowhere with Zimmer. We'll see if regular season wins are good enough for the Wilfs.
  25. At least we can stop hearing this nonsense about us having an elite defense. This is Nick Foles shredding them in the most important game of the season.
